Oysters at WDW??

Thought I'd throw in some Kingston Trio stuff while I was at it

Anyway--are there any oysters to be had at WDW? I believe Blue Zoo has raw oysters, but that's about it. Any place else??
While I'm on the subject--had some Oysters Rockefeller at a fine dining spot in Baltimore recently (The Milton Inn). Wonderful presentation, but all 6 of the oysters taken together would have fit quite comfortably in a tablespoon!! And that is the story almost everywhere I go. Small and smaller oysters. I can fondly recall years ago, at the old Northeast market in Baltimore, getting a fried oyster sandwich that I needed two hands to hold--
But I guess those days are gone.

You might try the House of Blues. I know they have a great Po Boy shrimp sandwich. I've ordered it more than once, and I bet they have oysters too, in season.

By the way, I have enjoyed raw oysters at a stand up bar at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, but that was a few years ago. You can still get them here in Tallahassee however.

If they have Oysters at the HOB they will be pre-breaded/frozen. Those don't count IMO on the quest for oystahs. Blue zoo is about it. Kinda sad. Did you look up a menue for Fultons?

In the Boston area we can still get large oysters. My local fish restaurant serves a great fried oyster plate for around $10 filled with medium to large oyster, depending on the season. I think that everyone has gotten "trendy" with oysters and are bringing in other varieties. I know that at Legal Seafood and Todd English's other restaurants there are many different types of oysters and many different sizes.
I've never looked for oysters while at WDW. I somehow feel that Oysters, clams and especially lobster are things to get at home. I really feel that you should not order lobster at WDW, it's not the same.

By the Way, a little known fact: The restaurants / food service people have changed the name of the atlantic lobster to the Maine lobster. So when you see Maine lobster on a menu it now just means a typical 2 claw lobster that was caught anywhere on the east coast. Not a real, cold water Maine lobster. Also, Florida lobster, rock lobster and lobster tails are the no claw lobster. It's much tougher and no where near as tasty.

As far as I can recall, no good oysters at WDW.

I really like oysters from the west coast. The oysters from the Pacific Northwest are much larger and more flavorful than the ones we have here on the east coast.

If ever in NYC, the Oyster Bar and Restaurant below Grand Central Station has a great menu, with a few dozen varieties of oysters available. The other food is pretty great, too.

That's not entirely accurate about warm water lobsters, often referred to as Bahamians. Florida or any warm water lobster can be very good, tender and sweet when it's fresh. This is a product that normally gets frozen so if you have it in a northern state or even many southern restaurants your not consuming a fresh product like an atlantic lobstah out of a tank. The Rock Lobster (New Zealand, South African, Australian or cold water) is really the one you want (IMO) if you are ordering Surf n Turf or broiled lobster tails but remember Rock lobsters are much more expensive than their warm water cousins and are harder to find on a Florida menue.

UncleR - the oysters @ BlueZoo were good, fresh, big and cold...very important IMO. I think they were served w/a mignonette sauce and something else, but I don't remember what. They have a variety to choose from, mix and match, both East & West coast varieties, and I believe they were reasonably priced, $2/per?

If you haven't had them at blueZoo then you can't say that all oysters at WDW are bad. They 7 or 8 kinds from both coasts, absolutely great.

Fulton's have them also but I would not recommend them. I can't think of any other place that has them these days.

Blue Zoo's selection was excellent. We have them every time.

Shula's has Oysters Rockefeller that were quite good, last time we were there.

Sounds like the Zoo is the only decent spot--
I guess the sorrowful thing around here is that just nearby is Chesapeake Bay country--where the Oysters should be large and tasty--but aren't.
