Oy...need some happy thoughts... PLZ! Job related!

DH just called me to say that he maybe losing his job! He was hired back in May by a guy he knew through another friend (networking). This guy had been calling DH for almost 2 years to help him fill this slot. DH at the time needed a job and took it...it looked liek a good fit and he and the guy got along really well.

DH became the entire IT dept basically. Before DH got hired they had a contractor who billed them outrageous amounts of money, and if he didn't get paid, he had code in a program that shut it down and stopped them in their tracks!!

Well in the first 2 days there DH was G-d!! LMAO. He found the code in the program to make sure it couldn't be shut down, he did networking, hardware, software, computer installs..you name it he did it, (even though it wasn't things he was hired for).

There is software he is writing (or attempting to write for them), that is constantly being changed by the user community and he is constantly putting out fires for other things. So he never has the time to put in for the software re-write. He has told his boss (well Pres of company) time and time again. THis guys says..ok..stop A, do B and C... then..how did you not finish A... well you told me to do B and C. This has gotten worse and worse.

Now there had been a guy between DH and Pres...but he resigned (he was a very happy man to get away..he had been promised a promotion and a raise that never came for months and months).

Now for some reason Pres thinks that the project A can be completed in 9 days!!!!!! Now, none of these people are programmers or project managers, they are CLUEless. So DH thinks he will get canned, and his boss (the president of the company and then ex-friend) will fire him and tell his boss that he got rid of the problem and I will hire someone else to do it and this way he blames someone else and nothing gets his hands dirty. Now DH isn't the problem..if he only had this project to work on, or some underlings to manage and help out then it would be done. He just interviewed a contractor to do some programming, DH wasn't sure when the guy was to start, sincehe wasn't part of that.

DH hates this job..he used to LOVE It!! But I want him to find something else and quit first.. (he is looking). So happy good thoughts please so he doesn't get canned. Happy good thoughts so he can find something else and tell this guy to SHOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And tell him to get things in writing (the "work on project A instead of B and C for x many days" type of stuff)!

Sounds so very similar to a situation my DH was in for the last 3.5 years before he found his current job. My DH was not on the hardware side of IT but the sales side in IT consulting but the company idea was the same. "Keep doing what you are doing?" "Why aren't you doing x?" "Don't do x, just focus on y" "Why isn't X done?" "Why is (otherperson) failing at doing W?" Just constant circles. Our life was on such an emotional rollercoaster for three years, not knowing if the rug was going to be pulled out. DH would call me with "news" and my heart would just sink, not knowing if it was good or bad. He has been with his new job for 2.5 months and everytime he comes in from the office with a "That was an interesting call" statement my heart still drops. So far it's been great though and he is a different person. I can't believe how much this prevous job was running our lives ... Good Luck to your husband and Hugs to you for supporting him right now, it's not easy for us either!!

If your husband truly is a rockstar engineer tell him to apply to SRI international. They are hiring in St. Petes FL but only the best. So far it has been very difficult for them to fill the 2 openings they have

Well he isn't an engineer..and he is very good at what he does...he isn't a rockstar.. well to me he is . And unless I have to, I ain't movin!!

Well so far no news is good news. The boss didn't talk to him on Monday.. Yesterday boss was nicer to DH...not like the friends and buds they used to be..but warmer. DH feels he actually read the project plan and saw how big the scope of this project was. Today boss was gone.

DH is still going to look for another job, since what was the best job in the world became horrible for him. I hate that this happened to him. He so enjoyed going to work and his boss and everything..now he is stressed and miserable .

Which makes me stressed.
