My wife is recovering from a very serious bout of pneumonia, 15 days in the hospital worth. She is still on O2 and will be so during our trip to Disney mid August.

So have any of you rented O2 equipment while in Orlando? We'll be "home" at SSR for the week. She is on an oxygen concentrator now and we'd like to get one for there. She'll be on portable O2 while we drive down and back up.

Any issues with Disney for her to be on a scooter with an O2 bottle strapped on? Any thing else I need to consider? This is a new venture for us.

TIA,

First of all contact your current social worker or oxygen supplier (or both) concerning the O2 needs. They will be able to put you in contact with a company down here and provide all the medical and insurance information, so it will be a seamless situation for you.

Second, if you will be renting an ECV you must rent from offsite to get an ECV with an oxygen bottle holder. Tell them what you need when you call about the rental, the Disney ECVs do not have bottle holders.

If you need, they can hold a spare bottle for you at the park First Aid stations; also they have O2 there and at least two RNs on duty at all times when the parks are opening.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'm thinking I'll rent the ECV from Randy's and have sent them an e-mail about an O2 holder. I have found that our current O2 supplier does have a branch in Orlando, so that hopefully will make things easier.

God I love the internet. Thanks Al Gore for inventing it.

It is good to know that 1st aid will allow us to store an extra bottle in the park. 1 bottle lasts about 4 hours.

Hey, Mike - check with your supplier about a pulse regulator for the O2. It will extend the time a tank will last. Also, remember the humidity in August will be very high and will probably increase the need for oxygen. Have a great
trip!
