Believe it or not that is a big question you asked. You should spend many hours reading the posts, because when you see my answers you will only have more questions.

Note; I have purchased 2 contracts both from resale
The benefits and downside to buying resale;

1. You can purchase less than 160 points and become a member
2. The per point price is usually lower through resale, but you have to pay closing costs. You really have to look at the cost of the resale contract verse what Disney is currently charging for that resort
3. You may or may not get points for the current UY
4. You have to pass ROFR
5. You can not currently buy Animal Kingdom through resale

Can you buy 2 deeds and combine the points question;

Note: I have 2 DVC contracts at 2 different resorts with 2 differnt UY. This is probably the worst case scenerio and the most difficult to keep track of. It worked for me for various personal reasons.

1. Yes, you can buy 2 deeds, like two smaller contract. If you buy at the same resort and have the same UY, you can book using all your points at the 11 mo. window.

2. If you buy 2 smaller contracts at 2 different resorts and they have the same UY, then you can combine your points at the 7 mo. window. You would have these linked under a master contract.

3. If you buy 2 smaller contract at 2 different resorts and they have different UY, you can not easily combine the points. You can make 2 seperate reservations and have the reservations linked at the 7 mo. window. Or one at the 11 mo. window and one at the 7 mo. if you are staying at one of the resorts one of your contracts is for.

It seems the more I inquired the more I found I did not know. This board is AWESOME for answers to any and all questions you might have. There are so many people here that are much more knowledgeable than I. So keep reading and keep asking questions, there are plenty of good people here that are always willing to help someone understand the complexities of membership.

If you buy two contracts with the same use year, they can be under one membership number. The best way to do this is to purchase one contract, then after it has closed and you are fully in the sytem with member accounting, buy the second contract and specifically request it be combined under the same member number before it goes to member accounting.

Different use years will always have different membership numbers.
