Owners locker?

There is pretty much universal love for Owners Locker here on the DIS. We have had our lockers since the program began and absolutely love them. As a matter of fact, I am leaving shortly for WDW and it took me all of 20 minutes to pack because most everything I need will be waiting for me when I arrive. Owners Locker service is stellar. You will receive text/email the morning of your arrival verifying that lockers are waiting and again to verify that your lockers are safely stored after you leave. The convenience of Owners Locker vastly outweighs the cost. I could never go back to WDW vacations without mine!

:) DH and I love it. He thought I was crazy for wanting a locker. But after the first trip with one..he wanted one of his own. I keep up with my packing list on the website. This trip in two days is for 10 nights. All my PJs, 3 t shirt dresses , extra underclothes and numerous kitchen items are there as well as some Halloween decorations. I throw a few more clothes, makeup and jewelry in a suitcase and I am off with the comforts of home waiting on me.

The name of my locker is Duffy...the PP has a precious little white dog in her signature name Duffy. JekJones is such a supporter of OL and frequent poster that I named my locker in memory of Duffy. DH named his locker the "Pooh box"...he loves Tigger.

We drive. :drive:

Would you still recommend a locker?

Right now, I have started a plastic bin with our Disney stuff. That bin fits in my closet.

For us it was a no brainer after reading the reviews. We love it. We keep all of our toiletries, various things from the kitchen, light jackets and it just make it so much easier for us. We drive and we fly. It is convenient no matter which way you travel IMO.

Service is top notch also.

We also love our owners locker. It makes our trips so much easier and more comfortable. The service can't be beat!! Go for it, you won't be sorry.

OP, do you mind if we expand the thread to, What do you keep in the locker?

That might help me decide if I want one.

Considering using Owners Locker for our trips. Any opinions?

We have had our OL since 2011, and have been completely happy! Don't forget, if you are a DVC member, there is a discount on the initial membership fee, but you have to use the link to OL on the DVC member website.

The customer service has been outstanding. On our most recent trip, bell services dropped and damaged our OL in transit from BCV to AKV. I called OL around 7 or 8PM and it was actually John who answered! They dropped off a new box the day before our departure, and everything worked out great.

I would say that doing split stays are the one disadvantage to having an OL. Ours is so full that it takes precise packing to get everything back in! With split stays, I often put some of the stuff in our regular luggage, so I don't have to spend too much time re-packing the OL. As we are not huge fans of the split stay, it does not come up often.

There are many a thread on this subject, but I think we all enjoy discussing our OL content!

Kitchen stuff: foil, zip locks, sharp knifes, cocktail shaker, bar set, brita pitcher and filters, plastic stemless wines, plastic Mickey cutting board, chip clips, dishwasher pods, collapsible cooler, salt/pepper grinders, rabbit style wine opener, gold Mr. Coffee filter, shot glass

Laundry: dirty clothes bag, dryer sheets, color catchers, purex 3 in 1 (no longer available), shout stain stick

Bathroom: large shampoo/conditioner, curling iron, band aids, grooming kit, suction cups for hanging wet suits inside shower, night lights, ibuprofen, electric razor, shoe spray, talc, omeprazole, hair gel, brushes, 1% hydrocortisone

Misc: power strip, Absolut, Woodford Reserve, Tanqueray, rain ponchos, multi-function tool, AA batteries, wide-brim hat, personal sprayers

We never leave anything in the locker that is wet and we always dispose of the used Brita filter at the end of the trip.

First let me say that Owners Locker offers stellar customer service. It didn't work for us because the items I most wanted to store ( shampoo, cold medicine, tampons, sunscreen etc. ) are quickly used up and I found myself having to pack them in our suitcases to replenish the locker anyway. It was great for running shoes, lint brush, items like that, but for our family it didn't work as I had hoped.

I am still considering OL. We only travel once a year though. Is it worth it for only annual trips? Also I am curious if things seem moldy inside the locker?

Unless you put wet things in the locker it's not going to get mold. Lockers are stored in a temperature controlled warehouse

I think it's probably worth it for most people just for the convenience factor

The things that really make our OL a necessity include: a noise machine just like the one we have at home, several power strips-- essential when you stay at the "older" hotels like BWV and BC which don't have enough outlets, in my opinion -- extra phone and camera chargers, for the times I forget to pack ours, scissors-- one of our most used items-- a big beach towel because I hate the little towels you get at the pool, underwear-- just in case our suitcases get temporarily misplaced, a bathing suit(ditto), makeup, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoos and body wash.

Also liquid clothes detergent, liquid plumber, bug spray, insect repellant, those humungous blue fans, my granddaughter's bubble machine, my daughter's coffee cup, Starbucks instant coffee and any extra cans of soda that don't get used up from one visit to the next. A wine bottle opener, extra waters, microwavable popcorn, chocolate if there's any left, peanut butter and I'm sure a few things I've forgotten.

I almost went crazy in a hotel in Pennsylvania recent;y because I didn't have all the stuff from my OL!

And John at OL is wonderful.

We opted to put the adults Disney clothes in, this time down. We don't wear them at home. Got rid of the Brita water filter and replaced it with the whirlpool every drop filter...much smaller and does the job.

We too love our lockers :yay: We (me, DH & DD6) come from the UK but its so nice as we don't have to carry lots of luggage.

In ours we have toiletries, make up, perfume, hair brushes, clothes, left over liquor/beer/cans of soft drink, sunscreen, plug adaptors (UK to US), power strip, chargers for iPad/phones etc, scissors, cocktail shaker, wet weather gear, lego, couple of DVDs, bucket & spade

There is more but right now I can't think of it. There is stuff in our lockers that makes our stay much much better but we would never pack every time and I think that is what makes it great :thumbsup2

We've had OL for several years and love it. We have misc. odds & ends plus a few articles of clothing in our locker and DW and I now manage our trips with one medium sized checked bag and that's it! We fly Southwest so we could travel with more luggage for no additional cost, but lemme tell you that traveling light is delightful. :thumbsup2

I'll also echo what others have said about the customer service: It is remarkable. It is a model for any small business. :earsboy:

THE BEST THING EVER!!!!! :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

You really don't appreciate its value until you travel again without it. We are charter members & have 2.

Customer service cant be beat. They have a money back guarantee so no risk in trying them out!

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a question:

Would Owner's Locker be okay with someone only accessing a locker every other year?

My Guide told me that they really don't like every two or three year users (or something to that effect). I don't see why not, as long as the bill gets paid.

That's a head-scratcher. They don't make any more or less profit contingent on the frequency of your visit. :confused3

I think the bigger question would be whether it's worth it to pay to keep your stuff with them if you're not going often.

a few quick points...
1. I think you should get a Locker (but I would say that, wouldn't I?)
2. lots of our Members drive...have a look at the video on the Owner's Locker home page...the couple drives here but found a Locker great for the convenience factor and the simplification of the packing/unpacking process.
3. from our standpoint, you can come as often or as seldom as you want. It's all up to you. We have folks who come every month and others who skip a year or two.
4. I appreciate the comments on customer service but never quite understand...doesn't seem like rocket science to treat other folks the way you would like to be treated...
As always a big TY to our Members who do a much better job discussing discussing Owner's Locker than I do.

Owners Locker was the best thing we ever did! No kidding! I had read about it, but just didn't want to spend the money (Queen of Frugal here)...my husband kept saying "just get it". I finally did, and it was wonderful! We now have 2, thinking about a 3rd.

Our #1 locker is our go to locker, Keurig, Brita faucet filter, feather pillow, pics of kids & grandkids (makes our villa homey), the usual hygiene items, bandaids, over the counter cold and headache meds, manicure set, etc., and Disney t-shirts that I only wear when at WDW. The list is huge, but I'm away from home (for work) right now and my full list is on a home computer.

Locker #2 is our 'Office In A Box", we work half days when there (it's all good, it enables us to stay longer), it has a printer, extra computer screen, various cables, etc. Love it!
