Overnights in Charleston, SC

Has anyone every stopped at exit 33 off of I 95 in Charleston, SC for an overnight on the way to WDW? If so, where have you stayed or if not, do you have other exits to stop off that are better.

Any good overnight stops in lower South Carolina?

We have stayed at I95, exit 98, Santee, SC at Clark's Inn, a local, non-chain motel & have always had nice, clean rooms with friendly service. Clark's Restaurant is in front of the motel.

Also, there is a Maurice's bbq at the same exit - it just opened about two months ago - we ate there southbound & northbound - highly recommended it if you like bbq.

Further south on I95 we frequently stop at the Richmond Hills, GA or Darien, GA exits at the Hampton Inns - clean, friendly, safe, breakfast in the a.m., etc.

We haven't had the best of luck between Santee & northern GA.

I'm concerned that Georgia will be too far for us to make in one day. I wanted to leave at 4 am and stop somewhere at 6 pm. That puts us at (I think) southern SC. I would love to stop at exit 98 but I think that is too soon. I only wanted to have about 7-8 hours of driving left the second day.

Any thoughts?

Charleston is a great town and has many nice hotels/motels. I'm not real sure where that exit is as I always came into Charleston by way of I-26.

I lived in North Charleston for a couple of years with my first hubby in the Navy. Downtown Charleston on the Battery is a great way to spend the evening as the sun is going down. Great views of Ft. Sumter.

great, thanks! I am trying to look into the hotels listed under the I 95 section, but most have two. I have to call them and see which is closest to I 95.

Ok so the search continues. I called the hotels in Charleton and was advised that they are very far (one perosn told me an hour) from I 95. I did more research and realized that the exit is rt 17.

I guess what I really want to know is has anyone stayed at a hotel off of exit 33 in sc?
