Can anyone recommend a good place to overnight camp on the way to the fort. I am wanting to stay close off of Rt. 75 near the Florida/Georgia line. maybe an hour or so into Florida would be ok as well. And what is everyone's opinion on overnight camping versus getting a hotel room. I have a travel trailer so I am not real big on boon docking in parking lots.

Thanks

It is a old campground with a lotta love and care for customers and pets from the owners. I really like this place and the owners.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We used to stay in a campground overnight - but now we stay in a hotel - $100 and includes a hot breakfast. We have a PUP and it's too much work and time to do the setup for just one night. This way I just pack an overnight bag, we head to the room, use the pool, good night sleep, free breakfast and we're off - alot less work for us than setting up the PUP.

We always stop at the Inn & Out RV Campgrounds. It about 1/4 mile east of I-75 on US-90. They have a lot of pull thrus, a Subway on site with ice cream, gas, diesel, and propane. Lots of fast food places and a few sit down resturants nearby. A WalMart and either Lowes or HD are about another quarter mile east.

we stay at the valdosta koa right on the fl/ga line. Nice big pull throughs so no need to unhook. only about 3-1/2 hours to the fort

Thanks for the replies everyone They all look like good choices. The Koa on the Florida line seems like a good goal and at about 40 bucks a night it would be worth the effort versus a hotel.

Great information everyone! Thanks!

We are leaving Sat. evening and were thinking of driving straight through (there will be 4 of us sharing the driving duties), but now I'm thinking we might just want to stop on Sunday afternoon, take a break and head out Monday morning. Decisions, decisions.....

Does anyone know how difficult it is to get a site at any of these places without a reservation? I hate to plan to stop and not really want to once we get there or vice versa - plan not to stop therefore not make a reservation and then feel like we really need to. This will be our first long trip in the MH so it's all new to us.

We've always gotten in at Southern Gates. But, we never travel at peak season either. It was $23.00 in Dec for a night.

the best campground on 75 near the FL/GA line is Eagles Roost Resort off exit 5 in GA.

Is that with a discount? The web sites says its $44 a night with no discounts.

I don't believe so, DH went in and paid. The last 2 times was the same price. This is my credit card statement.

12/23 SOUTHERN GATES RV PARK ARABI GA 23.00
