Have you ever had a run-in with a CM who is overly strict or zealous with regard to the "rules"

I've had three recent ones (two in Dec, one in Jan).

1) A CM would not let my 6 yo ride in a teacup alone even though he has done it several times before and there was no one else waiting to ride.

2) A CM refused to remeasure my 3 yo for Dinosaur after he "failed" the first time. I knew has was tall enough because he had already been on all the other 40" rides. Anyone with a 3 yo knows it is sometimes difficult to get them to stand upright to be measured and it often takes a few time to get them to "pass". This CM would not remeasure him. I was p*ssed since we had FPs. We had to wait about two hours and go back again once the CM was no longer out front. Wouldn't you know it, she was inside and pulled my son aside to measure (which he passed). She was INTENSE

3) When CMs check for tickets at the TTC before letting you through the gate most CM just glance to see if you have tickets. We had a CM check to see if we signed our APs and told us it was required for "Identification purposes" and just kept yakking away. We just walked away from her.

One that is funny and not annoying is the CM who stands at the end of a row telling everyone to continue moving to the end of the row so that everyone will fit in the theatre. They continue this even when the theatre is only 1/10 full. You just have to laugh

No this not about following the rules. This about the "rules" interfering with the magic.

Is there a rule that prevents a CM from remeasuring a child? Most of the CMs will try their best to get kids to pass.

Is there a rule that a 6 yo can't ride in a teacup alone especially when several teacups are empty. I've haven't seen it. If there is, then several CMs have broken the rule by letting my son ride alone.

:confused3 I am not sure what this post is about? Did you forget to type the interesting tidbit or were you just making a useless snide comment?

We once had a bus driver who told the whole bus that if we think we are afraid of the world now, try reading Revelations! Nothing like an uplifting magical start to your day! :rolleyes2

I forgot - on these boards, nothing negative is allowed.

Oh well, you were right to completely ignore the ignorant CM and let it interfere with your magic.

P&PD to all.

There is a reason for this. For people who don't frequent Disney they think they can just sit anywhere, no matter how full the theatre is (or isn't). Dh and I get so aggravated by people who just sit in the middle. If the CM thinks the theatre will fill up, they will ask you to move all the way across. It is very frustrating as a CM to have people not follow the rules. What is so hard about it? Is the middle that much better?

Your first two concerns deal with safety.

Your third one deals with making sure if your AP gets lost or stolen it can not be abused.

Sorry, but when it comes to safety and securtiy I dont think it's possible to be too strict!

I'm sure the guy who flew out of the coaster at SFNE wished they were a little more concerned with checking safety belts, but its too late for that now.

ITA :wizard:

I think you have to be 7 to ride a ride alone.

My point was that your post wasn't constructive at all. Just snide.

Try and enjoy your day. :teeth:

Actually no I haven't, however I have seen CMs that don't take their job seriously and in doing so risk the safety and comfort of others.

I will take a CM being responsible anyday over one that isn't. :thumbsup2

We had a CM at Buzz Lightyear tell everyone "2 or 3 to a car". Now we always go single at Buzz because how else can you rack up a good score. My son started to go single (he was about 9 at the time) and the CM yelled at him to go with his dad. I told my son to go single if he wanted to and ignored the CM. I have never heard this since. Just that one time.

Sure glad that I wasn't behind you in line. Sometimes you have to give up a little "magic" in consideration of others around you.

We're talking about Buzz Lightyear here, not Dumbo or some slow loading attraction.

My thoughts exactly...rules are there for a reason. Whether it is for safety or for the consideration of others, I applaude the CM's for enforcing them!

The line for Buzz is almost always over an hour. Now lets pretend that they let everone ride alone, that would put the line at over two hours. Sorry, two people per vehicle please.

I have never had to wait for Buzz. I either FP it or wait til the line clears. We usually put all three of us in the car at once...if we did break up into two cars, would I have to ride with a stranger in order to follow your rule?

Ditto for Buzz, we're a three person family. One of us is riding solo. An additional thing to note regarding "over zealous" cast members -- you usually will find this right when the new College Program kids finish their training. It takes a while before they relax a little and feel as if they aren't being watched like a hawk.
