Overlapping reservations

How to set up names for multiple reservation for the same date? We are checking in late on Saturday and have the room until Monday. We have another reservation starting Sunday but we don't want to check out of the original room until the new room is ready (studio vs cabin). For our reservation that starts Sunday I have booked the room under my name (lead) and husbands (Robert) and we've linked these reservation to our magic bands. The Saturday room reservation the lead name is under my husband but a different variation of his name (Bob) and then my name (should I change my name to just an initial?). We don't want to link to our magic bands. I assume we can just check in and get room cards? Hoping there won't be an issue on Sunday with getting the room ready notification if we are still in another room. Any experience with this or help with how to set this up?

I just book the same names on each and head to resort two later in the day when I l know things will be ready.

But, I admit, I don’t always get the room ready text this way, but because our plan is to not go until close to 4 pm, I do not worry

Given that the Saturday reservation is in variations of y’all‘s names and not specifically linked to your profiles in MDE, I think getting room key cards for that resort should work just fine. The system won’t know that the people staying in the Saturday resort are the same people checking into the Sunday resort, so you should get the room ready notification without a problem.

Has this ever caused you issues? We are considering doing this at Thanksgiving. We have 8 nights in a Tower Studio but are beginning to think that may be too many nights to be in that room + my wife will be teaching virtually on day 4. I was able to get a Savanna View at Kidani for the last nights. We are thinking of keeping the Tower Studio on overlap day so she would have a place to teach the entire day and then head over to Kidani once she finishes up at 4:00.

Nope, never had a problem at all! It makes it a nice option since we split stay a lot.

Everyone is on both. But there is no linking because they are different resorts.

For example, I just had RIV for the 26th and 27th of August but we moved over to VGF on the 27th.

Thanks, that helps. I meant linking as in adding to MDE (not linking as a continuous / merged stay).

My overlap night is always part of the same reservation but yes, I enter everything into MDE!

Speaking from experience you'll want to go down Sunday morning and check in in person for the 2nd reservation.

We have a grand villa at SSR for the week of NYE, but I also booked a room at BCV for one night, NYE.
Our plan is to spend the day at Epcot, and I thought it would be easier for us to crash at BCV for that night rather than fight crowds. Plus I have some health issues, so thought it would make it easier to be able to head to the room at BCV to take care of my needs during that particular day. I know some might see it as a huge waste of points or that we have taken a room from someone else, but I was just wanting to make it easier on myself.
I was going to change the lead guest name to a variation of my name so that it doesn't conflict with the SSR reservation.

In the is case, I’d just move one of you to be officially a guest there and put the other using middle name so that you don’t get checked out of the other.

In that case, it should not be a problem.
