Over the River and Through the Woods to Mickey's House We Go! And Grandma is in Tow!

Hi, I have reading your TR and PTR over the last couple of days and I love it! The next best thing to being in Disney is reading about it and imagining you are there again and you paint a great picture! Thanks!

Yay you started! I really liked your last report. I like all your fun saying! Hurray for your Mom going! Can't wait to hear the rest of the plans!

Hey! I'm hopping on as well! Gotta try to keep up with some reports from my fellow Louisianians!

I hear you about the boring drive on I-10. It seems so long from city to city. Once you pass Pensacola, the drive to Tallahassee seems to be forever.

I'll be sure to keep the volunteers in Haiti in my rayers. I'm happy to hear they have gotten some sort of word out to let others know they are okay.

I look forward to hearing more! Yall will be arriving as we are leaving.

Hello Brian! You know, I was thinking about you the other day and had hoped that you were doing well.

Things are getting better daily. As you know it was not a good end to 2009.
Taking your mom to disney will be fun. Our trip in December 09 we took my mom and it was a fun though I think we wore her out.

Our church was within days of sending a group down to Haiti. They recieved word yesterday that the orphanage and missionary that we support are ok.

It would be so great if we were going the exact same days. We could meet up the day ya'll were leaving P'cola or Crestview and drive down caravan like :thumbsup2. That would be so much fun. I need to set my PTR up like you do yours.

Good morning! Lisa
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I did like you do this weekend and did not touch the computer...thought I would have major withdrawals :lmao: but I lived :rotfl2: but, now I'm trying to catch up...
do you work today?!? or are you enjoying a day with Hunter?!?
have a great day!
:wave2: Connie

Hey, I have a question for you! Without paying for a preferred location, do you know what building would be the best to request?
Are all rooms in Martinique buildings 24, 25 and 26 preferred views?

Thanks so much!

sounds like u got a great plan going on, tis a good thing they invented the portable games systems/dvd players, if we never had them on our previous trips, i bee bored as heck, lol

John and I say that all the time....when we were kids, we would have never ever imagined that we could actually watch a movie in a car. Hunter would be bored out of his mind if he didn't have movies and games to keep him busy.

Hi Lisa.

First, I'm so glad to hear that Lacey's friends were unharmed by the earthquake in Haiti. I went on a Mission trip to Haiti when I was a senior in High School and watching the news coverage yesterday just broke my heart. In a country where the people already have so little and struggle just to live day to day, a tragedy of this magnitude is that much more devastating.

Your Day 2 plans look great so far. I love the pic of Lacey doing a cartwheel in the hallway...I remember that one from your last TR!

Can't wait to hear more! Take care and let Lacey know that prayers are going up for her friends as well as for all the relief workers in Haiti.

So far, Lacey's friends are still in Haiti. They are okay though. From what they know right now, they will be leaving this Thursday. Lacey's church is trying to get a mission trip to Haiti scheduled for the end of May. I don't want her to go but I am pretty sure she's got her mind made up.

I'm so glad that you're here! I always say that trip reports and pictures are what keep me sane until my next Disney trip. Believe me, I need all the sanity I can get!

I am soooo excited that my mother is going with us this year. It's been almost ten years since she's been to Disney!

Hey fellow Louisiana resident! I'm glad that you decided to join in.

Don't ya just hate that drive. It's so very very boring!

The prayers are still needed. They haven't been able to leave Haiti like they thought they would. Apparently, they won't be leaving until Thursday....a week later than they thought.

Brian, I am glad to hear from you. I know that 2009 ended badly for your family. But, I also know that you are glad that your dad is in a better place now.

I know for a fact that we are going to wear my mama out. She's already thinking about renting a scooter and we aren't even there yet.

Wouldn't that be a fun time!

I went to work today but we only had two phone calls by 11:00 a.m. So, we shut it down around 11:30 or so.

I spent the rest of the day catching up reading my subscribed trip reports, cleaning the dog kennel and played outside with Hunter and Oddball. John's brother came in last and will leave tomorrow morning. He is a pastor in Meridian, Mississippi but has a rental home here in Louisiana. The water lines were messed up and he had to come work on them. So, John spent all day digging in the mud.

Martinique buildings 24, 25 and 26 are all preferred locations. We were given a free upgrade to Martinique 26 this past trip and it took us, maybe, 2 minutes to walk to Old Port Royale.

Martinique 21, 22 and 23 are non-preferred locations and are all pretty close to Old Port Royale with 22 being the closest. Jamaica building 45 and Aruba 51 and 52 are all close to the bridge that crosses over to Old Port Royale.

Okay everybody, it was my true intention to post more trip plans today. But, it didn't happen. Our office was open but we only had two phone calls by 11:00 a.m. so we shut it down at 11:30 a.m. I can home and caught up on reading a few of my subscribed threads then Hunter and I went outside since it was a beautiful day.

John's brother is in town and spent the night with us last night. He'll be going back to Meridian, Mississippi tomorrow. John spent the day with him working on the water lines to his rental property which is in a nearby town. They had fun digging in the mud.

This afternoon, I grilled ribeyes and corn on the cob and fixed a salad. It was sooo good but I was stuffed afterwards. No room for the french vanilla cake I made.

Mama is getting more and more excited about the Disney trip. I typed up an itinerary for her complete with driving information.

Tomorrow, it will be back to the office to do the dreaded billing. I hate doing billing! And, I promise to post more trip plans.

Have a great evening. Chat with ya'll tomorrow!

Lisa,
I'm so happy your mom is getting excited about Disney. How fun! sounds like you had a great day...you dinner sounds sooo good. I have not grilled a good ribeye in a long time. That might be my game day menu; thanks I have been mulling over what I wanted to cook.
Have a great day tomorrow!
:wave2: Connie

How sweet that your Mom is getting excited. Try to have a good day at work tomorrow. I'm excited to see your trip plans! popcorn::

Hope you have a great day at work. Looking forward to more plans :surfweb:.

Thanks! Today is actually a pretty good day as far as being a work day goes. The boss decided that he'd stay home today since the trial that we were supposed to have today settled last week. I don't blame him at all. I'd stay home today too if I could.

I hadn't grilled steaks in a while either. I've been looking for good ribeyes for the last few weeks and didn't find any pretty ones until Sunday afternoon. I knew that John's brother was coming for a visit so I bought an extra one for him.

I typed up the itinerary for Mama and will be printing out menus for her too. She's already started looking for clothes to wear, new shoes, etc.

Hi Lisa! Sounds like a great day at home...grilled ribeye...YUMMMMM!

It was a nice day. The temperature reached 66 and the sun was shining. And, no work yesterday afternoon!

Let's continue on with our Day 2 plans, shall we. Like I said, we hope to leave either Pensacola or Crestview, Florida by 8:30 a.m. after eating a continental breakfast at our hotel.

We'll be back on Interstate 10 again and it'll be boring again. The time will change somewhere around Tallahassee and we'll have to set our watches up by an hour. I hate time changes....whether they be by crossing over into another time zone or when the time changes for daylight savings time. John is on a pretty strict medicine schedule so I can't change my watch in order to keep him on his regular schedule. But, then I look at clocks that are set forward and think it's time for him to take his medicine. How can one little hour confuse me so? What can I say? I'm easily confused.:upsidedow

We will probably stop and eat lunch somewhere that's easy off and easy back on the Interstate. And, instead of eating on the go, we'll probably go in so Mama can get out of the car. Who am I kidding? We'll all be ready to get out and stretch our tired legs.

Once we get to Lake City, we'll make the change from Interstate 10 to Interstate 75. I know that a lot of you readers will know what I am about to talk about. All along I-75, there are signs that say "We Bare It All" and "Couples Welcome!", "Truckers Welcome!", etc. Some of them even have pictures of women on them. They go on for miles and miles and miles. Back when Lacey was younger, she asked what the signs meant. We just told her that they weren't very nice and it wasn't something that she needed to know about. Thankfully, she didn't ask again. Hunter has never really paid any attention to them.

The drive on I-75 is just as unexciting as the drive along I-10 is. At least when we get on I-75, we know we are getting closer and closer to Disney World. We'll get off I-75 somewhere around Ocala and get on Hwy. 27. This is where we start hitting all of those little towns....Lady Lake, Leesburg and Clermont. Years ago, we'd stop in Clermont and get a sample of orange juice at the big orange ball shaped building. We were sad when it closed down.

At least when we get to these little towns, there starts to be something to see. Sure, it's nothing special but at least it's something. Not just roads and trees. We do get to pass the Citrus Tower and the vineyards. Did ya'll know that John Travolta and his family live in Ocala? Wait...I think it's Ocala.

Hopefully, by 5:45 p.m., we'll see this sign:

And then we'll make the big loop and be on Hwy. 192. I can't help it but I get all excited when I see all of those gaudy gosh awful buildings that look like giant mermaids, wizards, flamingos and the ones that have huge flags painted on them. To me, they mean I'll be at Disney World in not time at all!

If I get excited to see the gaudy buildings on Hwy. 192, then you can imagine how excited I am to see this:

***I am sorry that this was a short update but I need to get Hunter's stuff ready for tomorrow.

Oh and sorry for all the details. I warned you guys that I am a super detailed person.

I love to see that sign too! Your Day 2 sounds great Lisa. I wish my Joe would let us drive again but alas he is all about flying now. I think it would be fun to stop maybe in Atlanta or Macon over night and finish the drive from there. Have a great night!

John Travolta has a house in Ocala. Working for Disney sure makes that much closer. I love seeing those signs too. I always get a lump in my throat when I see them. We found a new way onto Disney's property when we went down in September and we bypass most of I-4. It is much faster and I think we were the only car on the road :thumbsup2.

Those signs are the best after a long drive! We drive too it takes a little over 8 hours with bathroom breaks. I always sleep the whole time while dh drives but this year it will be just me and my mom driving. Can't wait to hear the rest!
