Over the River and Through the Woods to Mickey's House We Go! And Grandma is in Tow!

Eww, sorry about your accident! Getting into an accident, even a small one, is such a pain. Sorry you had a crappy day!

Better days are coming.... Disney days :woohoo:

Just jumping in to say you may want to check with a TA that specializes in the Disney Cruise line as they may be able to give you some suggestions on how to make it some what affordable. Also flights to Canada are no where near as bad as ones to Europe. Just don't forget about having your passports.

I've actually thought about checking with a local travel agent that specializes in all things Disney. The Alaskan trip that Mama was supposed to go on this Summer (but had to cancel because of her bypass surgery) was nearly $3,000.00 and that was with her rooming with somebody but it did include airfare. So, right now the quote I received on the Disney Cruise website is looking pretty good to her right now.

We go I-75 to the turnpike to I-4. I don't like taking I-4 because it is soooooooo busy and Dale always wants to drive in the middle lanes .

Dale makes me nervous driving to Lisa, but it makes me more nervous with me driving. I have gotten bad in my old age. I use to not ever be scared to ride with anyone or to drive anywhere.

Oh I know what you mean. It makes me soooooo mad to see the police not doing their job. I was broken down one day and there were actually 2 police cars that pulled around me and kept going. I was in the middle of a VERY busy intersection. I was scared to death. I was waiting on a wrecker to come and get my car. When a policeman finally did stop he was just as pissed as I. He said it didn't surprise him that the other just pulled around me and kept going.

It is very annoying when someone waits until the last minute to let you know you need something. I'm glad you were safe going out in that bad weather. I know it got really rough here.

We have never been on the turnpike. We go 27 and then Hwy. 192. Maybe the turnpike is actually faster? But, as silly as it sounds, I like going down Hwy. 192 and seeing all the gaudy buildings. Makes me know I am really there!

We have a lot of friends who are cops or who used to be cops. You should hear some of the stories they tell.

I wish Hunter's orchestra instructor had told us earlier that he needed a white shirt earlier than the day before he needed it. When we came out of Wal-Mart is was lightning like crazy!

Sorry you had a bad day Lisa! That girl needed a break it sounds like. Maybe it will be her queue to turn her life around. I doubt it but we can always hope. I'm with ya on the police not coming...

As for the shirt, I honestly buy white all the time now and here's why...I LOVE the clorox bleach pens. My girls create stains ALL the time. At least on white I can get it out with the pen now. I just put a little dab on there and the spot is gone after the wash. :goodvibes The bleach pen is one of my favorite things. :thumbsup2

John and I said the same thing....the girl was in enough trouble as it was. And, the car wasn't hurt so there really wasn't any need in filing a claim.

I've never even thought about the clorox bleach pens. Probably 'cause I try not to buy anything white.:thumbsup2

This week is much much better! Gosh, how could it not have been.

Well, let's see what else I can talk about while I am searching for my pictures on photobucket? Hum?

I think I may have posted Mama's age wrong in my first post. She's 75 now and will be 76 this Thursday! Happy Birthday Mama!

Every year, I buy Mama a gift certificate to get a pedicure. She loves 'em but won't go out and do it for herself. I know that if I get her the gift certificate though she won't let it go to waste. I also bought her a cute little Vera Bradley card holder.

When we went to Disney in August, 2009, I had a business card holder in my billfold with John's business cards in it. I decided to try putting our room key/ticket and my driver's license on one side and my "folding" money on the other side. (I know. I sound like my Mamaw....folding money.:lmao:) Anyway, I wanted to see how it would work while we were in the park. I stuck the card holder down in my pocket and it fit perfectly. Whenever I needed our tickets or I needed my money, all I had to do was pull out my card holder instead of digging around in the backpack. Soooo much easier! Why didn't I think to do this 13 trips ago?

For Christmas, I bought Lacey a few Vera Bradley items. Ummmmm, I say a few but when all was said and done, she got a LOT of Vera Bradley items. Three purses, one large duffle bag, a medium duffle bag, a large cosmetic bag, a medium cosmetic bag, a zippered wallet, a small wallet, a business card holder and two ID holders. Oh, and a camera case. I kinda went a little overboard with the Vera Bradley.:rolleyes1 I didn't make tooooo much of a dent in my pocket book because I bought most of it during their sale and two of the things I bought from a seller on ebay.

Anyhoo, when I was ordering Lacey's Vera Bradley stuff, I also bought me a card holder and Mama an eye glass holder. No more stupid little plastic card holder for me. At the time, I didn't know that Mama was going on the trip with us. I went back to the seller on ebay and found a card holder for Mama. I was able to snag it for just $3.28 plus $2.50 shipping. For Mama's birthday, I think I'll roll the gift certificate up and put it in the card holder.

She's already started thinking about what kind of purse to carry while in Disney. She doesn't want anything heavy and she wants it to do the cross the shoulder thing. She even went out and bought a little coin purse thingie but I am sure she'll take it back once she sees the card holder.

Mama won't wear shorts but I have her talked into wearing capris while in Disney. I certainly don't want her to burn up in the end of May/early June weather. I've seen several stores putting out their Spring clothes already so we'll soon start shopping for capris.

Oh, and she went to Academy Sports the other day to see if they had Keds tennis shoes. They did. One was a cute navy slip on pair for just...get this....$4.97! She also found a pair of white leather Keds. They aren't the plain ole Keds, they are cuter. They were just $21.00. Then, she found another pair of Keds that are a silver/gray and they were just $17.00. She got three pair of Keds for under $50.00! Way to shop!

***I guess I'll stop here for a bit. I really am supposed to be working this afternoon. But, the boss has gone to the dermatologist. Has some kind of bump growing on the side of his nose and he's getting it checked out. I have a client who was supposed to bring pictures by at 1:00 p.m. It's now 2:30 and I haven't seen her yet. There's a lot of other stuff that I need to do so I guess I'll sign off for now.

Hello Lisa!
Sorry I haven't been around...I really thought I commented on your bad day ( I remember reading it--thought I remembered commenting...but oh well...guess I'm just losing it :rolleyes1 ).

But, anyway that was very nice of you not to push the issue since the girl was having a much worse day than you...

sounds like a great deal on all the Vera Bradley for Lacey...and great idea about the capri's for your mom. thanks for the info on the Keds...I really need a pair and that is about the only ones I care to wear if I don't have flip flops on...

Have a great rest of the week!
:wave2: Connie

Dang on all the VB!! Lucky girl that Lacey! I really want a new park bag......Great deals on the shoes!

I love VB. Sounds like you found some really great bargains. Lacey is a lucky girl. I like the cardholder idea. I might have to steal that one. :goodvibes

Ahh...Vera. If only I had a mom who wanted to lavish me with VB gifts! :goodvibes

I love hearing about all the shopping for Disney! I was doing that about this time last year...so fun!

Just stopping in to say HI. I am glad I am back at work, but they didn't have to work my butt off today :lmao:. One more day then 2 off .

I bought a purse befor our last trip that has all these pockets on the outside. One for my camera, one for tickets, one for chapstick, one for phone, I put money and cc's in the inside pockets it was so nice not to have to dig for everything. Sounds like Lacey hit the jackpot for Christmas! Our Disney store here is closing so I'm gonna go burn a hole in my new purse (I'm very sad about it, it was my little Disney fix):sad1: Tell mama Happy Birthday it sounds like she's having fun planning.

Tell Mama :bday:. The Vera Bradley stuff you bought must have been the same sale my wife found, Its not so bad when you ladies are buying the "smaller " items :). You might want to look at Sam's club online for the Alaska trip. We have friends that found a great deal last year for a Disney Cruise.

Please be sure to have your mom put high SPF sunblock on her exposed legs while at Disney. The last time I went with my parents they both got the "Disney pavement rash" on their ankles/shins - my Mom's was just awful looking & so sore! We went by First Aid & the nurse there told us that it was a burn from the glass particles Disney puts into their pavement - all the extra sparkle shines up onto your shins & causes a nasty rash/burn. She said that older people experience this more because their skin is so fragile & they don't usually expose their skin to the sun as often as younger people. Definitely something to avoid. My mom still talks about how painful that was & that was back in 2002!

I just realized you said you momma's b-day is Thursday! So is my sons. He is turning 21! Very scary!

Every year, I buy Lacey gifts with a theme. This year's theme was Vera Bradley. In the past, I've done beanie babies, watches, new apartment stuff, etc.

Go by Academy and see if they have the great buys on Keds. I couldn't believe that she got one pair for under $5.00!

Dang on all the VB!! Lucky girl that Lacey! I really want a new park bag......Great deals on the shoes!

Watch the sales on the Vera Bradley website. That's where I bought all but two of Lacey's Vera Bradley items.

Mama was so proud of her cheap Keds. Now, she's wearing them to break them in before the trip.

I love VB. Sounds like you found some really great bargains. Lacey is a lucky girl. I like the cardholder idea. I might have to steal that one. :goodvibes

I couldn't believe how well the cardholder worked. I still take a small bag but I don't have to dig around for my wallet with the cardholder. Perfect size for slipping into my pocket.

Ahh...Vera. If only I had a mom who wanted to lavish me with VB gifts! :goodvibes

I love hearing about all the shopping for Disney! I was doing that about this time last year...so fun!

I had asked Lacey to look around on the Vera Bradley site and tell me which patterns she liked the best. I did this several months before Christmas. She had no idea that she was getting so many things.

Just stopping in to say HI. I am glad I am back at work, but they didn't have to work my butt off today :lmao:. One more day then 2 off .

I bet you're one tired lady right about now. I know that you were excited to go back though.

Promis me you won't laugh.......I so wish fanny packs were back in style. They made visits to the theme parks so much easier. Everything was right there at your fingertips.

Lacey loved every piece of Vera Bradley and couldn't wait to show it off to her friends.

I miss our Disney Store so bad. It closed several years ago. I was sad but my pocketbook was happy!

I'll pass along the birthday wishes to Mama.

I wish definitely tell Mama you said Happy B-Day. I remember you saying that your wife was looking at the Vera Bradley sale.

I didn't think about looking at the Sam's Club travel site for a cruise. Thanks!

You know, we were just talking about that rash this weekend. We saw soooo many people walking around with the back of their calves burned to a crisp. It looked like it would hurt so bad.

I think we have just about got her talked into renting a scooter. She thinks she'll be able to keep up with us all day long but I'm not so sure she can do it.

I just realized you said you momma's b-day is Thursday! So is my sons. He is turning 21! Very scary!

But you aren't old enough to have a 21 year old. And, I'm not old enough to have a 22 year old. We were such young mothers.:lmao:

Oooo, lots of nice Vera Bradley goods ya got there!!!! She's gonna love it all!

Happy Birthday to MAMA!!!!!!!!

Gotta love Vera Bradley's sales!

I'll pass along the wishes!

Let's get back to our trip plans. I hope to arrive at Disney not too terribly late in the day. I want Mama to have time to rest up before hitting the parks on Friday. Hopefully, we'll see these signs around 5:30 or 6:00 p.m. if not sooner.

Here are a couple of pics I took when we pulled into the CBR last August.

I did online check-in for our August, 2009 trip and it went so smoothly that I think I'll do it again for our 2010 trip. Since Mama has a separate reservation, they linked her reservation to our reservation. Hopefully, we'll have connecting rooms but, if not, at least rooms in the same building. I also asked that they give us a downstairs room because of mobility issues.

I just love the smell of the CBR. I don't know how to describe it.....kind of lavendery/tropically smelling. Heck, I don't know what kind of smell it is but if you go to Wal-Mart and smell their brand of clothes detergent, the one with the purple cap, you can smell of it and that's what the CBR smells like. Yes, I buy that brand and scent of clothes detergent just because it reminds me of Disney World. Am I crazy? Probably! Do I care? Nope!

We didn't pay for a preferred location because we don't mind the walk. I honestly think the walking distance at the CBR is greatly exaggerated and I'll save my money for a Disney souvenir. That being said, we've been assigned a preferred location twice (once we paid for it 'cause that's all they had left and once we were given a free upgrade) and the convenience of being so close to Old Port Royale was great.

***Gosh darn it! The boss needs copies. Got to stop here for a while.

I've wondered about doing the online checkin - does it save time? I always like to be sure to talk to a CM assigning the room because they have never paid attention to my one request - mobility issue related. :sad2: So I didn't do the online checkin last year thinking it wouldn't save me any time since I'd have to ask for another room location anyway. And, yep, I had to get them to change my room to meet my mobility needs. :confused3 Don't know why I have such bad luck with this. I might try online checkin this year though. Who knows, maybe they'll look at the request this time.

That's great you have a reminder like that! :thumbsup2 I'd do the same thing - so if you're crazy, so am I! :rotfl:

***Gosh darn it! The boss needs copies. Got to stop here for a while.

What is it today with bosses needing things! Sheesh - you'd think they could hold off until we finished reading the Disboards! Oh, yeah! We NEVER finish with the Dis! :rotfl:

You are so right. We are much to young. We must've had them when we were 5!

I will smell that detergent when I get to Walmart tomorrow night.

I did book preferred for our May trip because I know how hard it is for me to walk right now so I can't imagine how it is going to be at Disney. I may have to rent a scooter to ride around on. I will see how things are closer to our trip.
