Does anyone know if it is alright to bring open bottles of tylenol, gravol or other over the counter meds on the plane and through customs in the US?

Good question! Iam planning to take Bonamine/Gravol, Advil Liquigels (in case of migraine) and my high-potency vitamins that help prevent the migraines. I need them all and want to take them with me in case I can't get them down there. I have heard there are not nearly as many things available OTC there as here.

Should be no problem as long as it is in its original container. If you have them in generic or weekly pill container they may not allow them. I have had no problems taking my travel Tylenol (opened) container.

I do it all the time. When I travel I carry a mixed bottle of Tylenol and Advil in my laptop bag and my vitamins in a daily dispenser in my luggage.

As long as they remain in the orignial containers, there is no problem. :goodvibes

To tell you the truth, they always ask that medicine be in its orignal packaging. I can tell you that unless you have a ziplock full of pills (Karen Walker style on Will & Grace :rotfl: ) then you are fine. My father in law works for the TSA as a baggage/x ray screener and he said they don't care about that stuff (unless there is something obviously going on) They are looking for weapons & combustables. It is when you travel out of the country through customs that you need to be diligent about that.

I used to work in pharmacy and would rather have whatever I need with me. I pack everything from ibuprofen, tylenol, immodium, tums, ace bandage, bandaids, neosporin, moleskin, stuff for nausea, something incase someone gets a UTI, Benadryl, Sudafed, hmm I know there are more.. painkillers (one time I sprained my ankle in Disney on Crusher Gusher).. Needed the ibuprofen & painkillers for that! I'm like a walking pharmacy.. Okay maybe I would look like Karen Walker :guilty: but they are all in containers!

I am the same way! lol I also make sure I have eye and ear drops and antibiotics as well!
Ya never know what could happen. 2 in my family are always coming down with swimmers ear so I get the stuff from my dr before we go

ME too!!!! I always care my own pharmacy. It's just a lot easier to have it all on hand. Not to mention it's usually cheaper. I've never had a problem taking that type of stuff on an airplane.
