Over the Counter med and prescription medicine in carryon in ziplock bag?

Has anyone in this thread themselves or even heard of anyone getting pulled aside and inspected and questioned about pills? Ever? I spent about 2 years traveling monthly through airports and never saw it once. Nor during any other travels.

I don't know if this is the right thread but since it sort of links to transportation via flight...

Does over the counter medicines and prescription have to be in their original box/bottles when carrying on flight?

I put "emergency" over the counter medicines such as advil cold medicine, tylenol, etc. in tiny zip lock bags to save space and also I put my daily prescription in tiny zip lock bag with each date marked so I won't forget.

Can take them in my purse on my flight in clear plastic bags?

We always fly in the USA without the original bottles. We get our pharmacy to print out our med list and carry a page of our last Rx receipts. It is brought with us on vacation. You never know if you loose any pills(down the drain,etc that you need to replace). However, when flying out of the country; we keep them in original bottles to avoid any issues .Little bottles of Tylenol or Advil are convenient when traveling too.

But keep in mind if you are renting a car or are "in a car" (I'm not referring to ME, but thi could include a car service to or from the airport where you have your carry-on in your possession) you need to be aware of EACH state's laws regarding the transportation of prescription medications.
I do know people who have had issues in that capacity. Why not just keep them in the original bottle so there won't be any issues? JMHO.
