Over 14 means a 14yo *can* dress up, right?

If not, I'm going to have a very sad 14yo at MNSSHP this year. I love that my teen still likes to dress up and get candy.

At this point, no one really knows if they'll keep the stricter costume rules in place for MNSSHP or if they will be relaxed by then. That being said, currently the rules state that guests aged 14 and older cannot wear costumes into the parks.

Ah, got it. In one news article out of Orlando, it said "over 14." Had not seen the official rules from WDW. Fingers crossed it changes by the time MNSSHP tickets go on sale.

I do believe that historically, costumes have been banned/discouraged outside of MNSSHP anyways. The thought is the clarification is due to the number of DisneyBounders that are creeping into full on CosPlay instead of the "inspired by" looks it began with.

And, when we get technical about it, on the day of a person's 14th birthday (and ever after,) that person is then "over 14" as (for instance) on the next day, that person is "14 years and one day" old.

And, putting it in terms to which most adults can relate...
If a person must be "over 21" to drink alcohol...
Everyone knows what many folks will do ON their 21st birthday.

Yeah, she stopped dressing up at the parks when she was 13, simply because she found relaxed DisneyBounding to be much more comfortable for long park days. But dressing up at the party what she will miss terribly if it is indeed the case that 14 and up cannot dress up. Our whole family dresses up every year.

She has a virtuous/honest streak a mile wide in most things, but especially when it comes to Disney! She would consider it lying to dress up at 15 (she'll be JUST 15 at the party next year) and the girl cannot tell a lie!

I would say unless she's a 14 year old who looks 18 she's probably going to be fine. It's not like they're going to be carding people for their driver's permits (here in Iowa we get those at 14).

on non-party nights costumes were not allowed for "adults" anyway as a few people were doing their own meet & greets. I think we will have to wait and see what is allowed on party nights, but I expect all masks or face coverings to be banned for adults.

I totally predict by the time Halloween season comes around they will allow costumes with some limitations.

There is a lot of time between now and the next party. I don't think anyone will know with 100% certainty how strictly this policy will be enforced until the night of the first party.

It is what it is. And will be what it will be.

But if you'd seen what some of these groups put together you'd know knowing the night of the first party won't really help. They work for months ahead of time putting their family costumes together.

I am just assuming that during the day the dress code that has been in place for years will be inforced and that at the party you will be able to dress up as you have been able to do in the past. At least I hope so, as I have already come up with our family costumes (Snow White for DD, Evil Queen for myself and Prince for DH) but very simple and easy/comfortable to wear in the Fl heat.

She looks 21! She kept getting offered alcohol at a wedding a few weeks ago. She's just a total big little kid when it comes to dressing up, though, and hasn't had a non-Disney Halloween in over 4 years. She is already dead-set on being Rey from Force Awakens this year. But another part of the disappointment would come from not seeing all of the other adults dressed up. There are always some amazing cosplay/costumes from some of the young adults that go to the party!
