Outside Scooter rental: Leaving it at the resort at the end of your stay

This gives me the creeps. Let me explain.

I don't feel comfortable just leaving the scooter at the end of our trip at the resort; because, what if something happens to the scooter after you leave, but before it's picked up by the rental company? I know the rental company doesn't want to meet you when you return it, either.

The terms and conditions say the company will charge you for any repair, replacement, etc. of the scooter. What if someone steals it? What if the company lies and says it's gone and it's not? I could go on and on....

I can take a million pictures of the scooter, but I'm not sure what good that will do for me, either.

So, how do you feel comfortable about this process?

Does the Disney bell captain give you a receipt that you have dropped it off at the end of your stay? It's not a Disney company; so, why should they give you a receipt?

Give the key to the bell captain. Ask for a receipt, if you wish. Nobody will steal the scooter. Believe it...Unless the thief lives right there at the resort the effort it would take them to kidnap the scooter from the luggage area and then roll the darn thing away without the key would hardly be worth the effort...and who lives at the resort? Anybody? :confused3:confused3:confused3

I've been renting from Walker since 1999. I have never had a problem leaving a chair/ecv at the hotel.

In all the years I did rentals I never had any problem with dropping a scooter at bell services. And in all my years in this forum I have not heard of anyone with any problems.

And I have seen some times when the vendors are dropping of the scooters or picking them up that they are in marked trucks.

I am not familiar with the exact procedures used, but I am quite sure that there are procedures in place to prevent loss of scooters.

In other words, don't worry about it.

I'm mistrusting, but it seems this is quite standard practice; so, i'll be alright with it all.

You are not the only one that had that fear. The first time I rented an ECV I had an extended telephone discussion with a very nice person at the Walker rental company about this. He took a lot of time explaining that the disney bell captains all know who his pick up people are and that disney puts the ECV securely out of the way until a person they know is authorized shows up for it. He said they have done thousands and thousands of delivery and pick-up with never a problem
