Outlook Express DBX damaged, help

My Outlook won't let me receive emails and there are emails. It gives me an error message. This happened once before and I recall deleting some DBX file and then restarting the computer and outlook reinstalling the file that I would need. Is this right? If not, please help. I need step by step.
