Outlet shopping near WDW?

Hi all!
Keep hearing references to Outlet shopping near WDW (dangerous!!!
Going with DH, DD7, DS2.5 in August and if we have the time we'd like to take a drive... hmmm, can I convince DH to make it an outlet drive!?!?
Would love to hear what outlets everyone thinks are great and not too far!

LOL I always schedule ONE day for nothing but outlet mall shopping. No parks but just shop shop shopping. I've got that day planned for my September trip and to make sure we don't lose that Disney magic, I've got dinner reservations at Whispering Canyon. LOL

Don't forget that at the Premium Outlet Mall and the Prime Outlet Mall they each have a Disney Character Premier store. If you never been to one it's discounted merchandice from WDW that is no longer sold at the stores that are on WDW property.

Dumb question....if you stay on-site, do you rent a car for a day or so to get around?? Or is there buses or something? I so want to go shopping, but I don't like driving in new places w/out knowing where I am going.

When my family and I go in August we drive down and in December we always rent a car. If you don't have a car here are links to the transportation pages of the outlet malls to see how you can get there and what services you can use if you don't have a car.

A cab from French Quarter to Premium outlet mall was $25.00 including tip. It was about the same from the Beach Club. There is a taxi stand at the premium outlet over by the Nike store. HTH

We ended up putting 384 MILES on the rental car . we hit fleamarkets, outlets..the disney outlet that was the farther away one had teh best prices...I got ladies t-shirts for $2.99...lots of great deals!!!! you name it we found it!! Well all accept for the giant crodile head my husband wanted to bring home..phew...he never found one!

Has anyone used the bus/itrolley to get to the outlet malls?

I went on my first trip to WDW, but we split the vacation into 2 parts-Universal and WDW. We were able to get a free shuttle to Wet n Wild and then used the itrolly to the outlet malls.

I was wondering if anyone knows a cheeper way to get there. I don't want to rent a car or pay for a taxi.
