Outback Steakhouse Free Meal Update

I went the other evening myself while partner was a business meeting. Oh my God, when they brought out my "meal" I was so embarassed! The steak was good, but the "side" of broccoli was THREE spears. I laughed so hard. :lmao:

Also their menu had margaritas listed at $3.99 and server said "good news it's happy hour 2-for-1" but somehow the receipt said $6.25, so not exactly sure how that was 2-for-1. Must be that Australian math. :confused3

Oh well, at least the "snack" was free and the server could not have been sweeter so I didn't bother arguing!

My voucher never even came. We always have this problem because we have a PO Box and all contests, trials, coupons, etc. state no po boxes. I put our house number and street and then I don't get the mail. Hopefully, whoever took my mail enjoyed my free steak dinner. Why are po boxes always excluded?

I have a regular mail box and my voucher never came either. So I guess I have to buy the 12 oz instead of the snack size.

We used ours the other week and they only took $8.99 off our bill. So, the meal was not free at all. I am glad for a discounted meal, but it said $9.99 value, but our Outback only allowed $8.99 off.

Also we noticed at our Outback all the meals come with one side and no salad. A salad is $2-$3 more per meal. We were wondering is this change has been made everywhere?

I just got mine today! DH works all week and DD & I are going to the in-laws on Friday to spend the weekend there. So I gave it to DH and told him to stop and get himself some dinner on his way home from work this weekend while we're gone.

We used ours last night. I thought the value on the card said it was a $8.99 value. The regular menu listed the 6 oz Outback Special with salad and one side for $9.99. I wanted the salad, and our bill showed $9.99, with a coupon for $8.99, so I paid an extra $1 for the salad.

We used to go to Outback frequently -- my husband was a server there when we were in college and after we first married. Back in those days for the 2 of us, we'd get 50% off our bill and we'd eat a great meal for under $20. We don't go as often these days and hadn't been in awhile. We were very surprised at how the serving sizes had shrunk since our last visit. We used to get a bowl with a good amount of salad; last night it was a small plate and was probably half of what we used to get. Our youngest piped up and ordered the cheese fries last night and what is now the "large" order is barely larger than what we used to get as a "half" order when my husband worked there. My baked potato was also much smaller than what I remember getting on previous visits.

All in all, the food was still very good and we enjoyed our meal. I just don't think it's a very good value for the money anymore.

We went on Friday night. I got the outback special with salad and baked potato and they took $8.99 off the bill. The portion sizes were fine and we the steak was great.;)

I'm glad I reread this. We were going to totally rearrange our meal schedule to eat here tomorrow. Now, I've read that I have through the weekend!

Does anyone know if they will honor the coupon with carry out?

Not sure about carryout. I assume yes unless the coupon specifically states no. We used ours last weekend, I decided to use the bonus offer and upgrade to the combo for an extra $4.00 and get the grilled mahi. It was good, I'm not sure I'd order it again but it was worth it just to let hubby taste it because he decided he'd eat mahi in the future. He's really picky about fish in terms of texture and taste. We both thought it ate like really moist chicken or salmon vs most other white fishes. My steak was good and cooked perfectly, my baked potato was adequate for that meal although I do enjoy being able to take home half a baked potato for leftovers or to make homefries with. We splurged and ordered the zuchinni fries, I liked them but hubby didn't. Normally he likes anything fried and has liked zuchinni fries before but he said they were bland. I thought they needed a pinch of salt. We also split one of the chopped blue cheese pecan salads and then for his entree he got a burger. All in all it was by no means a free meal but I'm not turning down $8.99 off a nice dinner out in this economy.
