Ok, here's the situation...my cousin and her daughter and I were supposed to take a long girls weekend down to the World for MNSSHP and a quick trip to IoA for Harry Potter. I was so excited!!!! Then real life got in the way and my cousin found out they need to have a new roof put on. So there went their Disney budget. I was so sad! I had been wanting to do the Halloween party for a few years. I was kind of out of the Halloween spirit for a while after a death of someone I cared for died on Halloween night in 97, but in recent years I have gotten back into it...so I was really looking forward to it.

So as I was being all sad, I thought "just go down yourself". I immediately put that thought out of my head because I didn't think people did that. Then I read tons of posts on here that made me realize yeah, people do do that.

Now, I am not a stranger to traveling away for a weekend alone. In addition to being a huge Disney fan, I am also a huge Detroit Red Wings fan, so I have do e trips to see them play in different cities, but a theme park seemed way more daunting alone than the streets of detroit or Newark (my family Tunis imam nuts for taking vacations to those Places too, but for entirely different reasons). But I thought to myself, the Halloween party is an event just like a game, so just suck it up and go! So despite everyone in my life telling me I will have no fun, I booked it today!:cool1:
More to come in my next post. Stay tuned!

Solo trips are most certainly worth it. Those that think you're "weird" just don't get it and you don't want them along anyway!

You really can have fun on a solo trip. It does require you being able to have fun by yourself and it's definitely a different kind of fun than with friends or family, but that doesn't make it any less of a fun time :).

Depending on what you like to do, there's plenty of stuff for a solo to do around the World, and MNSSHP is a very good way to do that.

Going solo is very liberating! I hope you have a great time. I leave for my solo trip on Sunday :cool1:

I am excited about going alone. I have gone away with friends and had great times and gone away with friends and had miserable times but I never had a bad time alone, so this shouldn't be any different. :rotfl2:

I made all my reservations today. I babysit for my brother's 18 month old and even though I adore this little boy and would watch him him for nothing my brother often books me rooms at Marriott with his points. He recently asked me if I was gong to Detroit any time soon and I told him yes but not sure when. He told me he had used a lot of his Mariott points to get a best buy card but he had lots of usair points. That was way better for me as far as Disney went because I had a 25% off rooms.

So today I asked him to book me from Mht to mco from 10/22-25. It turned out he could only get a late flight home on the 24, so I still get moe of the day and I will save $$ on that night hotel. The other little issue is that I can't fly out of Mht I have to go out of Boston, which is further from my house and parking is more expensive (I am not sure anyone is going to want to drive me in at 4 am ).

So, flights booked I called Disney to book the resort and party ticket. I ws sad POFQ was not available but I am ok with pop.

schedule so far:

10/22 6am flight arrive at mco at 12:30. Hope to check in by 2 and head over to Epcot
10/23 9 am DHS until 3:30 then head over to MK for party.
10/24 DTD for shopping, check out French quarter (hopefully research for future trip ;)) back to pop to catch ME back to mco for flight home :-(

I know it's short, but it is going to be good for an alone getaway.

I now need some ideas for meals. I was thinking I would just do cs but maybe
1 ts would be nice.

Thanks Kristi! I'm looking forward to it. TS dining suggestions - (1) Teppan Edo @EPCOT because it's fun and you'll be seated with other people so if you have a concern with eating alone at a table this option will eliminate that, (2) I don't have any concern with eating alone so these others are my favorites - Ragland Road @ DTD, Rose & Crown @ EPCOT, The Flying Fish Cafe (which also has a kitchen view bar where you might feel less alone) @ Disney's Boardwalk, and finally the Turf Club Bar & Grill @ Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort is very laid back with great patio seating and good food.

IMO - one of the great things about traveling solo (anywhere) is that I can eat in my price range without worrying about whether or not the entire party can afford my choice.

Thanks for the suggestions, Michelle. I am going to look into Teppan Edo. I have never heard of it and getting to meet some other people might be kind of fun. I don't have a problem eating alone, it doesn't bother me. I was more thinking of my limited time.

I wish it was closer than a month away. Today I did some research on shuttle service to the airport. My flight out of Logan on Saturday morning is at 6 am, so getting there is a bit of an issue, as I don't want to pay $20 a day to park. I didn't think the shuttle bus ran that early, but I found out they have a 4 am one, so that gets me to Logan around 4:30-4:45, which I think is perfect for an early morning Saturday flight (and maybe I could get on an earlier flight:thumbsup2)

Now I am looking on different websites for a fun Halloween t-shirt...something simple but with a little bit of sparkle perhaps!;)

I am under 1 month!!!:cool1:

I worked my part time job today and then went over to Jo-Ann fabric to see if they had any fun Halloween rhinestone designs to make a fun t-shirt but they didn't have anything. I think I might just buy one when I get there. The problem is a lot of disney shirts have a lot going on on them and I like simple so we shall see.

When I got home from work I went to the mailbox and found my party ticket! So excited. I do wish it was more festive than just a regular ticket, but who cares! I am so excited about this trip!
