My six year old came in a few minutes ago to talk to me and after he'd finished telling me what he needed to say, I replied, "Okay, punkin". He looked at me and said calmly and matter-of-factly (think Carl Sagan), "I am not a pumpkin".

I replied back, "You are MY punkin!"

He said, "I am not a pumpkin. I am not round. I am not orange, green, or black. I am not a pumpkin".

So I replied back, "Okay, muffin."

He said, "Thank you, that's much better."
