We we out shopping today and this little girl says Hi to me. So I say hi to her and my 6 yo ds says:

"Mom you know you're not supposed to talk to strangers"

I said you're right but in this case it's ok. I guess what I've been telling him is getting through

i have tried to explain not talking to strangers to my DS but he is a very literal kid. so the definition of stranger-someone you dont know. so know he introduces himself to EVERYONE. and as long as he knows their name and they know his they are no longer a stranger!

My 4 y/o catches me at that same one all the time. I always tell him that it's okay for mommy or daddy...but not for kids...to talk to strangers. It's so confusing for them. We have to keep trying though. More power to you all.
