We will be driving to Port Canaveral for our cruise next year. I would like to buy a Sunpass prior to driving down. Can I order these online or purchase one at rest stop once we are in Florida? Thanks in advance.

i have done both. You go to Sunpass.com and set up the account. You will need to load money on the account first. They will send you the sticker for your window. ONce you are done, you can close the account and ask for a refund. I think the one at the rest stop only has $10 loaded.

Are you driving straight down or coming over from Orlando? If you’re just shooting down I-95, you won’t even need a Sunpass.

Be sure to get the right kind .There is one that is permanent and cannot be moved to another car and there is one that you can switch between vehicles. Decide which is right for you before you order.

We drive down I-95 to get to Orlando from Virginia but Sun Pass is awesome to avoid a huge portion of I-4 when heading over from I-95 and I-4 is at a crawl or a stand still.

We are out of state but live about an hour form the Florida state line. We ordered one of the transponders with suction cups online. We are in Florida enough that having it is super convenient. I have the sunpass app on my phone and add money that way.

We live in Metro Atlanta. I originally had a sticker Sunpass but got the transponder when I had to replace my car. Since Sunpass works with Peach Pass lanes, it comes in handy at home too.

That’s why I asked. If they are just going to Port Canaveral (and not Orlando), they can just take I-95 down and don’t need the Sunpass.

All toll systems nationwide were supposed to be made inter-operable by the end of 2016 but that didn't happen. Who knows when or even if that will actually happen.

I'm in Alabama, too. We originally bought the sticker online. I had to have my windshield replaced from a rock ding and the sticker couldn't be salvaged. I bought (online) a suction cup transponder to replace it. We use it for trips to Atlanta, Destin, & Disney. We also let friends borrow it (and reimburse us) because it gives you a slight discount on the toll and it makes traveling so much quicker.

progress IS being made

on the plus side ... ePass will be accepting EZ-PASS beginning 1 Sep ...

The Central Florida Expressway Authority will soon be the first agency in the state to accept E-ZPass. ... The change goes into effect on Sept. 1.

PROBLEM is not all the toll roads around Orlando are cfx (central florida expressway system) and ONLY the cfx roads WILL take the EZ-PASS

example: the turnpike in and around orlando ... NOT ..... parts of the Beachline (Orlando to PC) NOT

btw .... I dug around once and found that the big issue here is NOT the 'technology' such as the transponders but rather the billing! Seems every state has unique accounting systems and to add a new player involves not one connection but many at the $$ level ....

yep, this is why I steer people away from the $5 sticker ... I've been moving my $20 portable around for 10 years now ... we share it among our 4 family cars and loan it to friends ... rent it to relatives sometimes ....

I'm arriving the thursday before the cruise and renting a car at the airport to tool around town until Saturday. Would a Sunpass order be a good option? Apparently my rental company charges $4 per day PLUS any tolls.
