I need to purchase medical insurance for our fast approaching WDW/Daytona Beach holiday.
4 people (me, DH, DD7 and DS4)
Dec. 17 - Dec.31

I have had one quote so far from Expert Travel Financial Security for $69 total.

I have one platnium card ( Mastercard) and it wasn't a member benefit. I haven't called my other credit card companies yet and don't know if I will ( I assume they don't offer it since a platnium card doesn't). I wonder if any cc cards would offer this benefit at a fee? Anybody know if any do off hand?

Any recommendations on other insurance companies to call for quotes?

Thank you
Suzy V.

Depending on what cc you have, you may have travel insurance, but they are usually the cc's that are gold or platinum.
I usually get the travel insurance through my bank (CIBC), and I am very impressed with them. You can also purchase it through your provincial health provider. You can actually purchase it the day before your trip - they will provide you with all the necessary information you will need in case something should happen.
If you had a couple of weeks, you would get a travel insurance card with the dates of travel on it to carry around with you.
Hope you figure everything out,
Jo

Just a word of warning. Be careful of the insurance you buy. We were down there once, and my mother got an eye infection, so off to the clinic we went. When we got there, there were some people from Hamilton Ontario ahead of us. They had Nomad insurance, which they had purchased from their travel agent. The clinic would not accept Nomad insurance, so the receptionist was on the phone, calling other clinics to see if they would accept Nomad. We had Blue Cross. This was some time ago. Blue Cross became Liberty, I believe, and I think it is now Maritime Life. Anyway, they would accept our insurance, so in we went. My mother was treated. When we got out, the family from Hamilton was still waiting, while the receptionist was still calling other clinics to find someone who would accept their insurance.

I have the gold card and they do for sure.

I also have a separate rider (sp??) on my Homeowners policy that covers us for multiple trips out of the country up to 30 days each time. It's $80...somrthing...a year for my family of 4.There's deductible on that tho...maybe $200?

I just bought blue cross medical coverage for $28 for 9 days for my daughter and myself. Can't beat that!

I have always been happy with the cost and coverage I get with insurance from CAA.

Also check with your employer. Both DH and I are covered throught work.

Another CAA insurance. No problems and were a family of 5 and cost us $60.00 for 1 week.

If you're planning on going just with the insurance offered through your credit card, be sure to call them and ask what the current policy covers. Some of the cards only cover the primary cardholder and not family members. Some of them require that you pay the medical bills and they reimburse you.
