Out of all the Disney news I'm saddest about Crossroads closing (near Disney Springs)

I was scrolling through the WDWinfo news and saw the announcement from the other day about the Crossroads shopping center permanently closing in the next 18 months :(

We would walk there from DS and go to lunch at Sweet Tomatoes and then hit Goodings for supplies. There's side walk all down the Hotel Blvd so we were comfortable walking there when we didn't have a car.

By the time we go back it may be gone. I'll have look for alternatives when we start planning that trip. Might actually do a grocery delivery but not going to help me with the remains of our Sweet Tomatoes GC.

There's a Sweet Tomatoes near where 192 intersects with 417 - you come off Disney from the animal kingdom area on Sherberth Rd and turn right. It is on the left just before the turnpike.

I've gone to that Goodings once and did not appreciate the prices so I've used Publix ever since.

Yeah, the prices weren't great but we never bought enough to justify spending on a cab/uber. It was still cheaper for us to walk there than get transportation elsewhere.

Another end of an era for us :) Price of progress I guess.

I hated to hear this. We have always gone to Fuddruckers for lunch since we don't have one at home. We also eat at Sweet Tomatoes sometimes and have gotten McDonalds when we get in really late.

I remember years ago when crossroads opened and the Goodlings was brand new. Man that was a heck of a store. yes, the prices were outrageous, but it was a premium grocery store. When we were there 5 years ago, I was surprised how much it had gone downhill. What a shame. We loved Crossroads as well. There was a great Disney store in there, and a Hallmark store (mitzi's?) that used to carry a lot of Disney collectibles. I know those haven't been there for years, but I will remember them always.
Now I understand that there is a Winn Dixie just down the street a few miles. Has anyone been there before?

Poor Fuddruckers. First kicked out of Artegon, now Crossroads. I'm going to miss Tom and Chee. I hope they relocate somewhere close - they've been our go to for a couple of trips now.

There is a sweet tomatoes on 192...

There are couple of Publix stores very close, not within walking distance, as well you could use instacart for grocery deliver with Publix. Also there is a Wal-mart on Turkey lake road that has everything ... and just a bit further down Turkey Lake Rd. is a Whole Food Stores...

I'm pretty disappointed about that news too... I love Crossroads for a quick bite to eat after work. Tom+Chee, Noodles & Company, and Moe's all right there is great.

I'm super sad about this as well. We stayed at SSR last trip and the drive to the mcdonalds was super quick and easy. My mom and I needed our daily dose of their iced tea as the Disney stuff is bad. It was also nice to have Taco Bell there for a inexpensive place to have lunch or dinner.

While I am not happy about the closing, I-4 really does need the expansion

Why don't they just expand into the median? I guess I don't understand why they would have to buy out an entire mall for a a couple of lanes to the freeway. Freeway expansion is not the answer to reduce congestion. Houston widened the Katy Freeway to 24 lanes wide and the thing just filled up and is as congested as ever.

In response to your first question: They need that space to build retention ponds. Not exciting, but it is important in Florida.

Proper city planning can make lane expansions very beneficial. Illinois added 1 lane to each side of I-90 And it has cut down on travel time for me by 20 minutes on my daily commute.
Houston is probably still congested because it is growing so quickly, which is s good problem to have.

Is Chevy's going to have to vacate their current location also? Does anyone know if they will find another location?

You mean 192 and 429 not 417. Its in the shopping center where Target is.
