NO! It is not time to go home yet! Are you kidding me???
The wake up call came for 8am...and I did not want to get out of bed, or checkout, or anything! To be totally honest, I can say this vacation didn't fly by too fast like I thought. The prior year we had been for 8 nights and this trip was only 5 nights, but it seemed like a good length still...I just didn't want to go back to the real world!
I got up finally and got dressed, ate,
and began getting our stuff packed up. It didn't take too long really...Mike had done a lot of stuff the night before.
We were ready to go by 9am and called Bell Services by 9:15am to come get our bags.
We went downstairs to check out and I owed a measley 3.00 for phone calls...whoopee! Then we head out to wait for our limo. BRRRR!!!
It was a cold one!! We had been used to 80s at least and I would say it was 50 degrees, BRR! 9:30am comes and goes and no limo. Ok, this has never happened before! So I call Happy Limo and they check on it for me. It turns out that our original driver had a run before ours for the Disney Wonder cruise departing that day. He was stuck in traffic...and failed to notify anyone.
So she says she has dispatched another driver that would be there within ten minutes. I was getting worried because when I called it was 9:45am!
Mike went inside to get change so that we could tip and he comes out and says, "Art the greeter is in there." He knew I wanted my picture with him so we go inside and some guy is jabbering away at nothing to him. Anyways, I finally get in there and get my pic...he is an absolutely cool guy! So friendly...he has got to love his job! When I told him he was famous he said, "Well thanks for the compliment" with a slight southern accent
Our limo arrives around 10am and it was the driver that we had on the way down. He starts telling us he's not sure what happened but that the guy was new and didn't know what he was supposed to do when stuck in traffic (duh?) and that his boss gave him the authority to speed to get here. We got in the car and took off (I should add he was still speeding LOL)
and got there a bit before 10:30am. Luckily there was curbside check in so we got our stuff checked in and we were on our way! They didn't assign us seats though...not sure why. We saw two dogs that were getting ready to be checked and one was perfectly calm, the other was going bananas. I felt so bad!!
We headed over to our terminal and we saw that our flight had been overbooked.
I wasn't too worried because we had booked pretty early so they couldn't bump us right? We tried to check in at the counter since we didn't have seats but they said they were still working on it?? So we decided to go get some food! Coincidentally we ate at the same place as last year, Fresh Attractions Deli! My sandwich wasn't as good though, they smothered it with mustard for some weird reason! We finished up and headed back to the terminal. I went up to try to check in and get seats and again I was told they were working on it. What was going on?
All the sudden Mike sees our name on the cleared list....huh? How did we get there? He gives us our tickets and they say 4A and 4B. Wow, great seats! As I look over them I see Class H first....what? NO way, we weren't first class, I think I'm imagining here. They make the call to start boarding first class and Mike decides to ask if we are...and the answer was YES! Upgraded for free!
I had never ridden first class before so this was interesting! Wow those seats were roomy! So comfortable! The stewardess came around and asked for drinks...Mike made sure to tell her I'd never flown first class...that twerp.
So I say I'll have a coke...she wrinkles her nose and says, "Are you sure?" So I say fine, glass of red wine. It comes, and it tastes like crap.
Worst wine I have ever had in my life...you see, this is why I order Coke!
The plane took off and pretty soon she was asking if we wanted salads. Now, I always thought you got steak or something first class so I thought the salad was a starter LOL I declined...and come to find out that was the meal! ARGH!!!
I was so ticked! And it looked good too! I picked from Mike's a bit...darn it!
We got into Cincinatti after what seemed like the longest flight ever and hurried to our terminal since our plane was late. We checked in and boarding started almost immediately! No first class this time!
This ride was a bit shorter..
I went through my camcorder tapes and started taking digital photos and got to laughing at my mother's face on the rides!
Finally the plane touched down in Minneapolis. I couldn't believe it when he said 67 degrees...were they pulling my chain?? NO WAY! Sure enough it was! We headed down to baggage claim and called our driver to come get us. We only had to wait about 5 minutes and he was there. At this point I was really anxious to get home and see our dog!! The people that watched her had dropped her off in our house! After a loooonnng drive (I swear they take the long way) we got there and my dog was so excited!!
It is weird because flying gets you places so fast that when you return its almost like you were never gone...isn't that weird!?
RECAP ON THE TRIP: This was a great trip. We had great weather! only rained once! And the crowds were very minimal, it was nice actually. I always read about people that went in January and never had to wait in line and I thought it wouldn't be the same, I'm just weird like that. I think this trip was a happy medium. It wasn't too crowded and it wasn't too empty. Just perfect! And I was definitely impressed with the Yacht Club and Beach Club Villas! Great place! Looking forward to our 2004 trip to the Grand Floridian and possibly Old Key West along with a 4 night Disney Wonder cruise!
