Mike (my fiancé) ~ 2nd trip to WDW, DVC member, 30 years old
Nora (my mom) ~ 3rd or 4th trip to WDW, 41 years old
Darrell (my stepdad) ~ Not sure how many times hes beenat least 3 times, 51 years old
The wake up call came at 7:30am that day, and still no Mickey on the phone. What is up with that?
All I hear is boring old music, not even Disney music. Is there something Im missing? I laid in bed til at least 7:45am
I was beat. I finally got up and around and decided not to bug anybody about getting up. I got ready and got the bag together for the day. Mike started getting up around 8:15 after I told him what time it was. My parents door was still closed and the light was out. Mike was ready in no time. My stepdad was awake but my mom was still in bed. I told Mike I thought we should just have them meet us there because he had to buy a park admission for the day since we only had the 7 day park pass and you cant share! Around 9am we told my stepdad the plan and headed out for a day at MGM. They were going to call us once they got there and we would meet up with them.
We went down to the dock to wait for the boat, and it was there in no time. We hopped on and enjoyed the ride. When we approached the Studios we saw lines lines lines. It looked liked it was going to be packed. We got off the boat and the lines for security checks were pretty long. I took the bag and had Mike go to guest relations to buy his pass. I got through security and in we went. The park seemed way more crowded than the other parks we had been to. I didnt get it .we went to the parks on their early entry days, so why was MGM the only one that was super crowded?
We headed towards Tower of Terror and got in line for that. The wait said 25 minutes not bad I guess but the park had just opened! Interesting. We got through in the estimated wait time and I got the butterflies .I have no idea why! Ive ridden it a lot! We get on and we were in the second row. I decided to try and tape it I know youre not supposed to,
but Ive seen people do it, so I thought what the hell. I turned the nightvision on and went to town. The part that was really neat was when they show the 5 people all ghost-like. I turned off my nightvision and the camera captured them!
So we finally get to the drop .and HELLO, they totally changed this!! The first drop is always the worst if you ask me! But they kept raising it up and bouncing and then dropping and then back up, etc. WHEW!
We got off the ride and glanced at the picture
we wouldnt have bought it because I was taping and also because my parents werent on it
we knew wed ride it later with them. They actually had called Mikes phone when we were on the ride. We told them where we were and waited. It was 10:30am at that time, glad we didnt wait! We got FPs for Tower of Terror and hopped in line for Rockin Rollercoaster. They had never done this before so I was really interested to see the reaction. My mom was scared on Space Mountain, so I knew it would be a good one. The wait said about 35 minutes and thats probably what we waited. We finally got up there and we ended up being in the very back
didnt they say the front was the best? Well I couldnt tell! The takeoff was phenomenal and longer since we were in the back! My mom screamed like no other
I just love this ride! Mike didnt really like it for some reason last year but when he got off this time he was like yeah baby! My mom got off and said that was awful Looking at the picture you can tell she is not lying. She said she shut her eyes and didnt open them after that takeoff. I was like mooooommmm! The scenery is awesome! Too late, I should have warned her ahead of time.
After that we realized we better get going to our PS! We headed over to 50s Prime Time Café, a place none of us had been before. I was kind of nervous about this one because I didnt know if Id like it. I had heard stories about the interaction and I wasnt sure if wed enjoy it there. I checked in at the desk and we were seated shortly thereafter and our waiter was Uncle Patrick. At first, the antics seemed kind of weird we werent sure what was going on. But then we got to laughing because the waiter in the area next to ours was an absolute riot! He had a child over there and he kept saying and doing the funniest things to him. Then he had a group of ladies come in and they werent into the antics at all. He sat down and said Whats wrong? You in a bad mood? and it was just so funny!
We looked over the menu and I decided to go with the chicken pot pie and so did my mom. Darrell got the Caesar salad and Mike got the Golden Fried Chicken. I also got a chocolate shake
.yum! We were really starting to enjoy the entertainment while we waited. The other waiter continued to pick on his three ladies and even brought one lemonade when she ordered Coke, and said, Ah, whats the difference LOL!
Our waiter did the chicken dance! Our food came within about 20 minutes and it was good!
Too bad Darrell got a salad, they had some good choices! The pot pie was really good! I spilled my shake and got in trouble. The best part of our meal was when Uncle Patrick decided to play airplane with Darrell. Out of everyone in our group, he was the best candidate for this because he keeps to himself so much. Great picture!
We wrapped up our meal and headed out to catch Indiana Jones.
The place was packed we were lucky to find seats. I was bored, I think Ive seen this too many times I hate to see it but I think its true. 40 minutes later we were on our way to catch our Fastpass for Tower of Terror. We got right in and when we got to the front we asked to be in front. He let us
I was in between my mom and Mike. She screamed like no other and kept grabbing my arm! When we got off of that ride she was like, I dont remember there being so many drops! Yeah mom, they changed it! LOL Next we headed for Muppet 3D. We got right in
always love the 3D shows, although this one seems a bit long
is it just me? When that ended we saw that Star Tours had no wait also so we got in line. We got right on that too! Weird! This was more fun than I remember! I was dying for a drink after that and we headed to Peevys to get a frozen Coke, yummy!
And that sure hit the spot! It was a really hot day!!
We studied the park map and I really wanted to do the Magic of Disney Animation and my parents wanted to the Backlot Tour, which I truly felt like I couldnt take another time without killing someone! LOL! Ive only done it like three times but its really long, and really scripted! So we split up and decided to meet back at the resort. We headed over to the Animation building. Only had to wait 10 minutes for the tour. I had seen this once when I was 10 years old, but had never made it back. I remember thinking it was neat because I watched them draw Aladdin, actually working on it in the studio and then I saw a commercial for it two years later and remembered! Mike had never done the tour. They changed it I think but it was still enjoyable. It was fun to watch him draw the main character from Brother Bear because the voice is the kid from Bernie Mac who is just a riot! My favorite part of the tour was the end where they showed the most memorable clips I really enjoyed that!
When the tour ended we decided to go back to the resort. We got in line for the boat and it came about ten minutes later. We decided to get off at the Dolphin because Mike wanted ice cream. I didnt mind since I like to check out resorts. We got off the boat there and went inside to the Dolphin Fountain. The décor inside was nice surprisingly. I didnt know what to expect but the Unofficial Guide sure makes it sound horrible! We got our 20% discount through DVC and began to walk back to the Beach Club. His sundae was melting like crazy! It was funny because just as we were walking past the pier we see my parents getting off the boat!
We went back to the room and I laid down for awhile. We decided to just eat in the room since we had food there anyways. I was accustomed to eating out though so a turkey sandwich didnt sound that great! I just munched on Doritos. We got ready to go back to MGM to catch Fantasmic. I dressed a bit risqué for the night but ah well, youre only young once LOL.
We noticed a huge black raincloud heading right for the studios and we were sure wed be dumped on!
We made our way down the Fantasmic entrance and yeah .the place was packed and it was only 7:30pm. Good grief! I knew wed have to be in standing room only like last year and that sucked! It started to sprinkle and some people left at that point we spotted room for four people in one of the upper rows right in the center. We snagged those seats and they were great!
I was thrilled! Darrell and Mike decided to get some food from the concession. While they were gone there were some big fat raindrops hitting us! But it stopped. They came back with pop, popcorn and Mike had a pretzel. The rain started up again and then stopped. People left
.but then the cloud just moved and a clear sky with moon and stars appeared
.I thought we would have gotten dumped on for sure! I couldnt believe it!
The show started and I decided to tape it. My poor arm hurt but I got some great clips!
My parents liked it, only problem is that its so centered around Disney movies, that unless youve seen most all of them, you arent sure who these characters are. I had to keep telling them. The show ended and we made our way to the walkway that leads back to the Epcot resort area. We had walked the prior year due to an overcrowded boat and the walk proved to be quite enjoyable, especially at night! We decided to go back to the Boardwalk and walk around for a bit. I was hungry so we stopped at Spoodles and I got pizza yum!
Then we went over to the General Store to look around. We found those goofy golf ball gadgets that we got stuck on at Wonders of Life. Of course we all sat there like dorks trying to get the golf ball on the tee (in the little glass water filled ball)
We ended up stopping to feed the ducks again LOL Terrible habit! We eventually made it back to our room and I was just beat! I did get online briefly to check mail and stuff but went to bed shortly thereafter. NO WAKE UP CALL FOR US THE NEXT DAY!!
