It's over ... but wow, are we ever glad we were able to experience a Disney cruise ... and it certainly won't be our last, that is for certain. "We" are myself, 34, DH, 36, DS16 and DD9. I'll apologize now if any of the pictures I post are huge. SORRY!!

Day 1 - Wednesday, October 18
Our trip started out on my DDs 9th birthday. We flew JetBlue with no issues and were in FL by about 1:30pm on 10/18. We got our rental from Budget and since we were so early, I called the Renaissance Inn in Cocoa Beach and they happily found us a room that was ready for us so early. We went to the hotel (about 45 minutes from Orlando) and got checked in and changed our clothes. We were taking the kids to see the Orlando based Cirque du Soleil show La Nouba that is in Downtown Disney so we headed out after a great meal at TGIFridays. The show was fantastic (but I knew that since my husband and I had seen it 3 times already without the kids!) and the kids absolutely loved it. We headed back to Cocoa Beach after walking around for a bit in DD and we were back at the hotel by about 10pm. I finally got the kids into bed around 11pm. Gee, they couldn't sleep ... it reminded me of that Disney commercial where the kids and the husband say that they are too excited to sleep!

Day 2 - Thursday, October 19th
The day started off great and only got better from there. I woke the earliest and went out to get some breakfast at Dunkin Donuts which was about a mile down the road. When I was driving back, I was just about to turn into the driveway of the hotel and I looked up and saw the stacks of the Wonder off in the distance behind a Carnival ship and literally screamed out loud :cheer2: even tho I was the only person in the car!! I had goosebumps on my goosebumps and after parking the car, I ran so fast up to the room that my bag of breakfast sandwiches ripped and they all went flying all over the sidewalk!! :rotfl2: But I didn't care!! I saw the ship for the first time and couldn't wait to tell the kids!

When I got up to the room, my daughter was using the bathroom. Did that stop me? NO! I stormed in jumping up and down telling her I saw the ship and she started screaming and jumped up off the toilet! :lmao: They were a little sluggish and that was JUST the push that they needed to re-motivate them. I explained the boarding procedure to them like this ... "suppose Mommy has to go to the bank ... but there is a carnival outside ... we can't go to the carnival until we do what we need to do at the bank ... would you rather be first in line at the bank or last in line at the bank??" That was followed with an enthusiastic "what can we help you with????"!!

We left the hotel and went to Budget to return the car and get our ride to the port. That was quick and painless to say the least. They are very in tune with people who want to get to the port quickly!! A fellow DIS friend from our meet thread recognized us in line at Budget so we were off to a great start with fellow friends and DISers already!!

This was our first view of the ship as we were on our way to the port ... what a sight to see!!

We arrived at the port right around 10am and I can say with ease that we were at least within the first 10 people inside. The kids made a B-line for the model of the Magic ...

At about 10:15, I went and got in line for the registration which was to open at 11am. They actually started much sooner than that so it wasn't that bad. Taking the time to register online helped out a lot ... the check-in process went so fast, we were done before we knew it. Once we had our KTTW cards, nothing could touch us!! :cloud9:

We had another interesting DIS meeting at the terminal while in line to check in as well. I was standing next to a couple who were talking to some other people in line and I overheard them talk about their grandchildren Emily and Lexi and I knew instantly who they were speaking of. My daughter had become email pen pal friends with Emily for a few months before the cruise via our cruise meet thread and we were planning to meet at the mickey pool but here I was in line right next to her grandparents. I introduced myself and Gabi was so thrilled to learn that she would meet Emily in the terminal in just a short time. Needless to say, they were inseparable the whole trip. I was so glad that they got to know each other beforehand so that they had a friend while on board.

We also met another couple and their two sons while in the terminal as well so we were well on our way to having plenty of DIS friends on hand!

After a short time, the characters started appearing and it was a lot of fun! It definitely helped to keep the kids occupied and pass the time.

We completely the kids club registration process, got the bands and pager and were all set. Now we just had to hurry up ... and wait!! We were in the coveted group 2 for boarding and the kids knew exactly what that meant so they were very eagerly listening for us to be called.

When it was time for us to board, the kids were thrilled. Gabi a little more than Shawn but still ... we were having fun!! We had our boarding picture taken (the first of MANY, I would learn) and then we were off!! Or on, I should say!!

47b6ce02b3127cce8e310d15c5fd00000016109AcOWjly5bc

After we boarded, since it was our first time on the ship, we took that opportunity to walk around and see the sights. We immediately headed to the Mickey Pool which was closed and being filled. We were surprised at this as I thought that would have been done, but it really didn't matter. We were just so excited to be on board. We then decided that we should eat so we went to Parrot Cay and I excused myself to go to the door decorations (which were a surprise to the kids) and darn it, they were all roped off so I had to go back and wait to do it later (ropes are down at 1:30pm, no exceptions). When I got back, I saw that I missed out on our first magical moment ... a CM from PC made my son a hat out of his napkin and he was patiently wearing it waiting for me to come back and see it!

47b6ce02b3127cce8e311f74c59500000016109AcOWjly5bc

After we ate, we did some more exploring of the ship. We found the big mural of Walt Disney and the kids stepped in for a picture because I am the worst tourist with a darn camera. This shot ended up being one of my favorites because we didn't tell the kids how to stand, but they both ended up really cute with Gabi with her hand on his shoulder and Shawn sort of holding hands with him ...

47b6ce02b3127cce8e310314c5fb00000016109AcOWjly5bc

It was after 1:30 and we were all at the pool with many of our DIS friends and I was able to once again sneak away and put up our door decorations and see the great baskets that Shirley put together for the kids. Here are some shots of our door:

The kids loved the room, loved the baskets and were just so happy to be there that I was really overcome with happiness.

Shortly after that time, after some more exploring, we went to the mandatory drill and that went pretty quickly, thankfully because it was HOT and we were all squooshed together and I was not loving life at that exact second. I had the great idea of sending my husband back to the room with the lifejackets while the kids and I went to secure a spot for the sail away celebration. I highly recommend that procedure as we were some of the first people on the covered pool deck and the kids had front row seats for the entire thing.

47b6ce02b3127cce8e311dde440e00000015109AcOWjly5bc

We had the early seating and our rotation was T, AP, PC so we were off to get ready for dinner at Triton's. We met our servers who were Gusti from Indonesia and Adam from Australia. They were great!! Fantastic the whole time and we truly did enjoy our time with them.

Gabi was wearing her birthday pin so she had her singing celebration at Triton's and we all shared this fantastic dessert:

47b6ce02b3127cce8e3137b4c54100000016109AcOWjly5bc

When we got back to the room after dinner, we met Paulton from Jamaica who was our room host. He was so friendly and sweet - we really enjoyed getting to know him over the time of the cruise. Our first towel animal that the kids LOVED:

47b6ce02b3127cce8e3143db442400000016109AcOWjly5bc

Gabi decided that she would take the upper bunk for the entire cruise, which was just fine with Shawn ...

After dinner, we went to go see Hercules the MUSE-ical and it was a great show! We really enjoyed it. It was hysterically funny and very well done. After the show, we were thrilled to see that the characters had begun to hang out in the Atrium. A word of advice and maybe I need not really say this but hey, it was our first trip and we didn't think of it right off the bat ... treat your autograph books like an Am Ex card ... don't leave the room without it. At peak autograph times, the elevators are packed and two flights of stairs for each floor from the 3rd mid-ship to the 7th aft is a long way to RUN while your kids are in line with puppy dog faces because their books are back in the room. My husband did it the first time and seeing as tho we didn't learn that time, I offered to do it the 2nd time, but trust me, there was NO 3rd time ... I saw to that! Those books were plastered to my side at all time because you just do NOT know when they are going to pop up as needed, which is a great thing!!

Character interactions really make any Disney trip worth it all. Kids who know darn well that they aren't REALLY two huge chipmunks that know how to write all dressed up hugging them really do turn into all smiles!!

After our first day, we were pretty tired ... and really excited to be there. We were so excited that we forgot to order milk and cookies before going to bed that night. Like our other previously noted mistake, we would do that twice as well before getting it right!!

Hope you've enjoyed reading so far ... next installment ... Nassau, Bahamas!!

Great Start!!! Sounds like you had a great time! Made me feel like I was back on the Wonder. I love DCL and can't wait for my next one (we're going to try a 7-day in 2008)!

Thanks for the great trip report. We're on the Wonder tomorrow morning, so your report is perfect. Any last minute advice woudl be greatly appreciated. We are first timers also and super excited!

Got to love those faces the first time they see the characters!!

Here is a last minute hint: Child size fanny packs are GREAT! As is the pens that go around the neck. You can put the autograph books in the fanny packs and let the kids keep up with them.

It was a life savior for us.

Last minute advice? Besides the autograph book and remembering the milk and cookies??? LOL

Things that mattered to us:

Next time I won't pack full-sized shampoo and conditioner, shower gel, hand lotion, etc. They supply plenty on board and you can get more if you need it. Makes your bags too heavy and takes up valuable souvenir space!!

Don't waste a lot of time off the ship in Nassau ... you can do it all in just a little while (and there's really not much, if you ask me. We overheard many saying that the beaches were not clean and that it was wasted time). Be strong if you aren't interested in purchasing anything (or getting any hair braided) and they will hopefully take no for an answer.

Do carry your Navigator and your camera with you everywhere you go ... I was reviewing the Nav all the time and it was worth it.

Don't try to do everything ... you never will. The more you hurry up and rush to the next thing, the sooner your trip is over and you can't remember half of it. I needed to be reminded by my husband to just slow down ... and just how many times did Chip and Dale REALLY need to sign their books???? LOL

Get a wake-up call and put it on speaker phone ... there's nothing like the Big Mouse calling at 6:30am to wake the family!!

Try to make it to watch the sun come up at least one day. On our Nassau day, we played ping pong, chilled with Christian the Cruise Director, played basket ball up on the sports deck all while the sun was rising and it REALLY started our day off in a fantastic way. Very memorable (check back to my report for sun up b ball pics).

We skipped the Golden Mickey's as per the recommendation of many as it's just really an advertisement for all things Disney (c'mon, I'm a sure thing ... and I'm on the ship already!!) and that it's just basically them patting themselves on the back and since I already do that, we didn't see the need, lol.

Confirm with guest services when Captain Henry will be autographing souvenirs at Treasure Ketch (if that matters to you). I watched for it relentlessly in the Navigators but never saw it. :confused3 Thankfully we walked into TK at 7:20 just 5 minutes after he sat down and we bought the clock from the room and a water painting and the book on the history of the Magic and had him sign all three and got a picture with him. I didn't see it in print anywhere that he would be there ... we just happened upon him by chance.

Over-indulge and let the kids (if traveling with any) do things they don't normally do. 3 pizzas, two BLTs and choco chip cookies a-plenty from room service at 12:45am REALLY does a thing for a kids vacation!

If you feel rushed to get your luggage out in the hallway by 11pm, don't do it. We didn't and we were fine. Don't feel like you HAVE to. That was a major stress factor for us until we found our stateroom host and let him know that our bags would be in our room until we left the ship and he said, "FINE!!!". We were in the early seating so we had breakfast at 6:45 (sounds worse than it is, trust me) and then we went to Shutters for our final pic purchases and then leisurely made our way back to the room and actually had time to lay around and watch TV until they cleared the ship for disembarkation. We took our suitcases and trotted (unhappily, I might add) right off of the ship. We bypassed looking for our luggage at the terminal and got right out of there. SO simple ... once you decide to do it that way.

Other than that, take tons of pictures, smile ... and be marveled at the Magic happening all around you, even in the faces of children that you don't know ... just look around and take it all in. And please ... do a report when YOU get home so that I can re-live it!!! :thumbsup2

Your report is fabulous and I just love the photos. Can't wait to be there in 74 days, but for now, I will live out the trip through your report! :goodvibes Thanks for taking the time to post!

Thankyou that was great :thumbsup2 :sunny: ;) :goodvibes :) I only have 1 more year and a day to go for my next trip

I'm enjoying your report and especially your great pictures! BUT...you didn't see Golden Mickey's????? That was the best of the shows, I thought. Next time, you have to see it, trust me. I love that great Disney music! :cool1:

I am really enjoying you report so far! We are cruising in 90 days. Can you tell me more about the baskets from Shirley? and contact info. I would love to do that for my kids too. Thanks,Angel

Absolutely!!

Her website is www.theperfectgift.cc and she is great ... she has pre-made baskets and you can add and remove things as you see fit. She delivers them to the ship the day that you sail and they will be in your stateroom by the time you get there!!

She's fantastic!!

Sorry it has taken so long to get the next installment of this up ... but here's day three of our trip ...

Day 3 - Nassau, Bahamas

Even tho we had ordered a wake-up call from MM at 7:30, I magically shot up out of bed at 6:30 and saw that we were on the verge of a fantastic sunrise so I went out onto our verandah and this is what I saw ...

47b6ce02b3127cce8e2e9340240400000016109AcOWjly5bc

I decided that I didn't want to experience that beautiful sight by myself so I woke the kids and we went out onto the verandah to sit for a while. My husband had a slight headache from the patch he was wearing for the seasickness so he stayed in bed. Here's what we saw over the next little while ...

47b6ce02b3127cce8e2e9348240c00000016109AcOWjly5bc

We decided to wait for the wake-up call and then go for a walk. We went to the sports deck and the kids played basket ball for a while as the sun continued to rise ... then we played ping-pong for a while and met up with Christian the Cruise Director for some chit-chat and a photo op ...

After a while, we went back to the room, collected my sleepy husband and went off to breakfast at Beach Blanket Buffet. The food there was awesome. Plenty of variety ... quick and delicious!

This is what we saw out the window as we were eating breakfast ...

We were planning on having a small DIS meet and doing a self-tour of the Pirates Museum and the straw market so we met up with everyone around 9:30 or so in the Atrium. We realized on the way off the ship there was a huge character session going on in the Atrium, so of course, we stopped for that before getting off the ship. As you can see from the pictures, the theme was P R I N C E S S E S!!

The Pirate Museum was only about a 10 minute walk from the dock and it was really easy to find as well. The whole tour takes only about 45 minutes or so (minus the gift shop at the start and at the end, lol) and it is thankfully air conditioned so that was a nice plus.

47b6ce02b3127cce8e2e93f424b000000016109AcOWjly5bc

The statues along the way in the museum were eerily life-like and Gabi couldn't even take her eyes off of this guy long enough to take a picture looking up at me. :lmao:

When we got back on board, we had lunch at Triton's. This is the only place for menu service for lunch so we decided we needed a nice meal to top off a great morning. We had lunch with fellow DISer DIZZNY and family and really enjoyed it. Triton's is fantastic ... no one was disappointed. Especially the adults with our ... drinks ...

or the kids with their ketchup mickey ears!!

47b6ce02b3127cce8e2e93eba59f00000016109AcOWjly5bc

After lunch, we all went and hung out at the pools for the rest of the day. We found that most of the other people on board had the same idea that we did and the ship was packed that day while in port. Even tho it was, we had no problems finding a table to sit at, no lines to speak of at the ice cream self-serve, etc.

That night was Pirates IN the Caribbean night so we went off to dinner ... this time at Animator's Palate, which we were really excited about and totally looking forward to. On our way, we met up with a few more characters in the Atrium and couldn't resist Mickey and Minnie all dressed up!!

Dinner at AP did not disappoint ... the food or the atmosphere.

47b6ce02b3127cce8e2e93cda5b900000016109AcOWjly5bc

We were like a bunch of kids in a candy shop ... just so excited when the pictures on the wall were changing. And then the ceremonial vest change was fun, too.

Gabi tried on a few different styles for the bandana ... but the boys would have nothing to do with the bandanas. LOL No fun they were ...

47b6ce02b3127cce8e2e93c7a5b300000016109AcOWjly5bc

After dinner, Gusti and Adam were happy to pose with the kids for a picture ...

47b6ce02b3127cce8e2e93cc248800000015109AcOWjly5bc

We were heading back to the room now because Gabi and I had packed full on pirate gear for the Pirates Party and were excited to be getting dressed up for it. When we got back to the room, Gabi was excited to see the next towel animal that Paul had made for us.

47b6ce02b3127cce8e2e93c8248c00000015109AcOWjly5bc

The Pirate party was so much fun. The characters were great ... the music was fantastic and the fireworks gave me goosebumps. I couldn't even think of any other place on the entire Earth that I would have rather been at that very moment. I was very happy. Here's Gabi and I dressed up ...

And all 3 of us ...

Although I didn't get any photographs of it, the buffet was awesome!! There was a good variety of food for that hour in the evening and we were happy it was there since it was almost 11:00 and we had eaten at 5:30. We had ham, fajitas, warm crepes ... not to mention all of the great desserts. We headed back to the room so that we could prepare for our next day ... Castaway Cay!!!

DD was just sitting her with me looking at your pictures & she screamed when she saw the picture of Ariel!!!!! She has never been on the Magic in three cruises so now I will have to pack that costume as well. :) Just in case....

Great report so far!! :thumbsup2 Takes me right back. I love your sunrise pics!! I think we'll have to get a balcony next time for sure. I've been looking at January 08 for a 7 night. I really want Ethan to see Cozumel. Hope you've all recovered from post-disney syndrum!! Keep on writing...

Thanks for your post! I just watched the cruise DVD and I'm excited! Loved your photo's as well, your daughter is a real beauty!

Thank you for saying so!! She is so photogenic, I just love taking pictures of her. Her brother is not so lovey dovey for the camera. She has such an infectious smile .. when she smirks even if she's in trouble, I have to turn away from her. :)

So are you planning a cruise??? We were lugging our luggage through JFK when we got home from the trip and she says to me "so, Mom ... what do you want to do when we get home? wanna plan our next cruise??" I just looked at her and smiled ... a girl after my own heart!!!!!! :rotfl2:
