Our upcoming cruise exposes my OCD

Yes, you do sound a bit crazy. I don't start soliciting opinions on ADRs for WDW dining from DH until 7-8 months before we leave. And I only start sending him copies of the menus of potential places just before actual booking at 180 days. A short list of potential port excursions with descriptions, pictures, and my ranking of first, second and third choices only gets posted to the shared OneNote notebook only about 4-5 months prior to sailing along with all of the relevant information such as possible Palo/Remy dining nights, dates of Pirate, formal and semi-formal night, possible spa bookings, things I'd like to do this time that I missed last time or I want to repeat, port arrival and departure times for each port along with a request for him to rank 1, 2 and 3 so that I can be ready to book as soon as possible.

I only print out and e-mail (in case he loses the print-out) him copies of his packing list 6 weeks prior to the actual departure date and put out the laundry baskets to collect items at 4 weeks prior. After packing, I go through the list and check the bags no more than 2 times. Maybe 3.

I only check six or so times in the two weeks prior to the trip to ensure nothing has been forgotten or needs to be added to the list and that we don't have to go shopping for items. I only check 3-4 times on travel day prior to being picked up by the airport limo to ensure that the evil passport sprites haven't removed my passport from the secure side pocket of my carryon between then and the last time I checked it. And I only ask DH to show me where his passport is the same number of times. Oh, and when we're in the limo. Just in case. Evil passport sprites. You never know.

I can't imagine what it must be like to be OCD about planning a trip given that my quite reasonable and not over-the-top actions seem to work very well. :crazy2:

Is it just me or does everyone go a little bonkers once your DCL cruise comes within a few days...?

I've shopped, shipped, checked, double checked, questioned, verified, planned, listed, reserved and changed my mind at least 10 times on various choices. Amazon has My address on a speed dial route! My kids have begun the "smile & nod" method to the "if mama ain't happy" theory and the husband has begun parroting "whatever you'd like" lending to the 'happy wife' theory.

The reservations for the pooch have been set at doggie day care, the car has been cleaned out for the road trip to the airport. The mountain of laundry is nearly done and the suitcases are down from the attic and wiped clean.

All the online check ins are done, dining reservations made and fastpsss choices have been set. Magic bands arrived for the WDW leg of the trip and waterproof cameras and lanyards have All been verified to be water tight in our swimming pool.

Southwest airlines knows we're coming and DME knows where we're going!

The office staff is thoroughly jealous and the family is dreading the vacation slide show already.

My otherwise organized home has become strategic staging areas of FE gifts, packing stacks, toiletries, beach gear and paperwork.

Am I crazy or is this the magic of the Disney Dream that has overtaken my mind?????

I was like this my first few cruises and have learned to let go through PA (Planners Anonymous). BTW it is not OCD...the letters are in the wrong order...it should be CDO.

Oh my goodness...this made me smile. I too am a bit obsessive about the evil passport sprites that I am convinced will take my passport while I am waiting in line to check in.

You are my people!

We leave FRIDAY... omg ... It's really happening. Never thought we could afford It... But we did. Never thought it would actually get here... But it has... (insert grateful exhale of relief)

SO excited and happy for you! Hope you have a truly wonderful time! :beach:

I guess I'm completely the opposite. We leave for Europe in 9 days, and I haven't done anything.

I love DCL cruising as it is all the fun of Disney without the insane amount of planning. I remembered my first cruise about 7 years ago and thinking gee I hope the over planners don't ruin DCL like they did WDW. Sorry but it was my immediate thought after getting off the ship. I know it has become more popular with the WDW crowd so it is only inevitable that it would happen.

As far as OP just relax and enjoy the cruise. It is not WDW don't try to make it that way. Have fun!
