Our trade to the Marriott Barony Resort!

We traded to the Marriott Barony Resort at HH. We wanted an ocean view but that didn't happen. If fact we were forever away from the water. It was a 10-15 minute walk. Our unit was a 2 bedroom and had 2 spa tubs, one in each bedroom. That is the trade off for not having ocean views in all the buildings. There are 4 pools, one is enclosed and heated. The pool outside the main building is also heated. The other 2 are not. The garden buildings have a pool, hot tub, and grills. This pool is not heated and was very cold. We happened to pick a week that was cold and rainy everyday. We only had sun about 8 hours the whole week. We also had no hot water for 2 1/2 days. The 2 building share the water and it didn't work right. We had enough hot water for morning showers but that was all. We couldn't use the spa tubs. The resort is really very nice and clean and we just happened to pick a bad week. I don't think I will trade there again because the only reason we did was for the ocean. DVC for us next time. Don't get me wrong, the resort is very much up to Disney standards. It was just a bad week for them and the weather. They did try very hard to make it all better and were very nice.

We bought 3 nights from a TUG member last minute deal at Barony Beach Club over the first weekend of March.

We also did not have an ocean view, we were overlooking that heated pool behind the lobby (which was quite noisey when the sun was shinning). We only had 1 Jacuzzi in the MBR, but sinse we were just the 2 of us, it did not matter. The resort was beautiful. The villas were very large and had nice furnishings.

Comparing BB to HH for us is:

We enjoyed the 5 or so minute walk to the beach at BB. Also the covered parking and elevators.

At HH we really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We prefer the darker rooms at HH (as opposed to BB with what I call "Palm Beach Pink" decor.) The rooms at BB remind me of OKW and HH reminds me of VWL. Which is why we bought at VWL.

So, next time we go to HH we will forfeit the closeness to the beach for the relaxation of the resort at HH.

Most exchanges there are going to be the Garden View units that you received. If you want Ocean view or something similar, Grande Ocean is a far better bet.
