My husband and I just returned from our 5th trip to WDW. We have done the regular dining plan 3 times in the past (twice with free dining), and the QS plan once (this past October). We usually travel with our two daughters, but this time it was just Mom and Dad:). We decided to do the TIW card this time (we had purchased APs in October), since the discount applies to alcohol and we planned on enjoying a beverage or two. I sat down this morning with my receipts to try and do a cost-comparison, but it wasn't easy! First of all, it's hard to compare, since the amount of food we chose to eat was different than what we would have consumed being on the regular dining plan. I much preferred eating exactly what I wanted, rather than what I felt I had to eat. I do not like feeling too full! Also, we were there for NYE and NYD, which are black-out dates for TIW. Had I researched that a little better I would have made reservations for a less expensive meal on NYD, but oh well! All in all, we are glad we did the TIW. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Love to know where you ate, what you ate(just to get an idea how differently you eat from the plan requirements), and what you actually paid. Certainly the total cost of your meals could be compared to the cost of the dining plan for the same number of days.

If you check on the dining reviews you can see where and what we ate. As far as the difference in how we ate, I don't think there was a day where we ate what would have been on the dining plan (1 snack, 1 counter service, 1 table service). I found that using the TIW I ate less, but felt totally satisfied. My husband and I shared dessert a couple of times, I had soup for dinner one night, we shared a breakfast platter, shared drinks, shared a pizza at WPE, and at Raglan Road I had two appetizers rather than a full meal. I think the actual cost would be pretty much the same between the two plans, but using the TIW I ate more of what I actually wanted, and there was no waste. Hope that helps a bit!

We bought TIW during our trip last week. We did not miss DDP one bit! It was so nice being able to go where we want, order what we want, and not have to worry about DDP.
