DME dropped us off after AKL, CSR drop off. The line at the check in was long. It was about half hour wait. I requested 50s bldg, 4th floor, non smoking. Everything was granted. We were facing the lake and if we go out and go around the building, we can actually see the Spaceship Earth and the fireworks. I think this makes staying here more magical.
The room is very clean and smells fresh. It was very quiet and no traffic since we were facing away the pool and on the 4th floor. They have hair dryer and iron/iron board in the room already. The room is small comparing it to the moderate and deluxe resort. But it was only the children and I in the room, so it was no big deal.

The transportation we didn't get the chance to use. I felt kind of sick the day we arrived so we didn't do the park on the day we were at POP.

The kids enjoyed the pool at the Hippy Dippy. We didn't try the bowling pin pool. The kids also played and swam at the the kiddie pool behind the Hippy Dippy pool. We didn't get a chance to walk around this time. The kids didn't get the chance to play at the playground.

The food court was busy and crowded. The food was very tasty and have lots of choices to choose from.

I enjoy listening to the 70s and 80s and 90s music. It really takes me back when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s in high school. I find myself singing sometimes and my daughter dancing. I didn't get the chance to watch the CMs do the "Hustle" or "Twist." I was kind of bummed about that. I was looking forward to that too.

Please someone confirm this for me. When you look at the Spaceship Earth, look to the left of it and see if that's Cindy's Castle. It is color blue-ish purple-ish. My daughter said it is Cindy's Castle and I thought the same thing too. It is very tiny from the 50s bldg. You have to look really hard and it has to be at night or you will not see the color.

The place is fun and very colorful and filled with very vibrant children. Overall stay... It was a very good stay. Would I stayh again...most definitely!!

Ps... I would use DME again.

HI, I know you from the UO boards. I am glad to see that you like POP. We are Loews Plat., but could not give up that great free food deal for Sept. at least for a few nights at POP. I have never stayed there. It is one of the few places at DW I have not spent a night. I hope it is ok?!?!

Could you PM more info like the room number, etc.

I don't have the room # in front of me. however... any room is a good room. If you want quiet, I would definitely suggest the 4th floor facing the lake. There are so many rooms that are facing the lake.

I don't know what Disney resorts you have stayed at, but if you keep an open mind and open heart, you will enjoy this resort and possibly find the "magic" there. If you are going to compare this with deluxe or moderate, then you might find yourself disappointing.

I haven't been to USO in a while now. I am starting to miss some of my rides and my favorite resort- Royal Pacific. Maybe I'll do it again next year.

Ok.. I got it. It's 3417 is the room number. We were at Tramp bldg, 4th floor. Enjoy your stay there!!

Thanks, I am missing UO also. Our family is missing Portofino right now bad.

Hi!

We've stayed at POP, 50's 4th floor, Lake view 3 times - the building you see in the distance is Tower of Terror :) Last time we were in room 3413 - end room - great location, except for the smokers who stood on the walkway smoking every morning and evening.

What a treat to be in a value and see Spaceship Earth and Illuminations, yes?

:):):)

We love Pop too. It's funny how long the line for check in is? When we were there during Hurricane Frances, it was never ending. Glad you had a good time.

Just came back from the POP on Friday and loved it. We did not have to wait at check in, but then we were there at 11:00 (don't know if that made a difference or not). I, too , loved the music throughout. Did you check out the shadow boxes in the lobby of the items from the past? It was a nice trip back in time and remembering the "good ole days" from the 70's and 80's. :)

I am going down for a quick trip in October to be with my CP daughter on her birthday - free dining made this a reality. My sister and brother were going on about how they feel value resorts have no class and are gawdy - mind you my brother only stayed once at POFQ and my sister never stayed on property... they also felt free dining wasnt worth it and are holding out for room only rates or the CM discounts that we are not sure of...

Its so nice to read your positive reviews, I too feel that the magic is in your heart and if you cant find it, you wont find it by paying more.
Dont get me wrong, I intend on staying (one day) at coronado springs before my son is too old -- then after that - perhaps I will make a childhood dream for myself come true and stay at the Poly - I have always wanted to stay there.

Thank you again, your so sweet.

We saw this for the first time when we were there last month. Absolutely hilarious! :rotfl2: When the "hustle" came on all the CM's got into a line in the food court, even the security guards, and started to dance! :rotfl: A few brave guests jumped on the dance floor and joined in the fun... we just took pictures. ;)

Stupid question...Do they have elevatiors there? Would the 1st, or second floors be as nice on that side? My father has leg probelms. TIA!

Yes, they have elevators in each building so no worries :)

Thanks for the review. Would you stay there if it were just 2 adults? We don't have kids. The price is tempting.

I would say absolutely yes!

DD (18) and I really loved the theming and both thought it was probably adults that "got it" better than the little ones. CM's greet you with "Have a groovy day" and play 60's music in the food court. :rotfl:

If nostalgia is your "thing", this is a great place! :teeth:

Yes, we did look at the memorabilia that was on the wall in the lobby. It does take me back in the 70s and 80s. I was telling the kids how it was back then when there was no computer or Playstation or CD player. It was pretty neat!

Strolling along the lake is nice. Along the lake, there are signs and has facts one each decades. Very educational.

This resort is nice. It definitely has the "up beat" to it!! It is very Disney. With the rate you pay... you can't go wrong!!

This resort is very good for older or younger. Because it's "POP Century" the theme here is about taking you back in memory lane. So this is good for the older folks as well as the young ones. The younger ones learn about how things were back in those days even before they were born. There's some edcuational facts like I said earlier, right along the lake if you walk it. And the icons are very colorful and fun to look at. This resort is great for all ages. I would definitely come back here!!

We can not wait we will arrive at POP on July 30th for 6 nights and then we are off to the beach. I really need to get away it has been a busy year so far. We just moved so that has been very hectic. Glad to hear that once again you had a great trip...even though you weren't feeling that well in the beginning:) We requested 50's building, facing the lake so hopefully we will get that also!!
