Our Ten Day Adventure Around the World with(out) Malficent!!!....with lots of pics!!!

That is the first Day 0 report I have seen! Very clever and sounds like it is already full of drama!

I am in! Can't wait for more! popcorn::

Day 1: Thursday, June 11, 2009: Travel Day

Plans: We will leave around 4am from Louisiana. We will be driving to Florida. We will be taking three cars.

I don't know about the other two cars, but mine will be jamming to Disney music!!!

After getting to the house, we will go to the store to purchase the perishable food items. Our plans are to eat breakfast at the house before going to the parks in the morning (except for the two days we have a breakfast ADR). We will also purchase food for the evenings (sandwich stuff, frozen pizzas, etc) for after the parks. Afterwards, we will go back to the house, unpack and get to bed early so that we can get a fresh start for the morning.

Acutal: I left off with the first car leaving at midnight with half of our group. My brother Wes did most of the driving. I slept most of the drive. The only pic that I got was when we stopped for a bathroom break (we had ALOT of those this trip)
IMG_0837.jpg

I drove for about three hours (7am to 10am) while my brother slept. We ended up getting to the check-in office around 2pm. Thankfully, we were able to check-in and get the keys (check-in was 4pm). The house was in the same neighborhood as the office. (the house was right down the road from disney on 192; it took us about ten minutes to get on disney property and no more than twenty minutes to park in the parking lot).

We had a four bedroom two bath house. It had a private pool and a full kitchen. Since we did not have luggage, we only had to unpack the few items with brought with us in the van. (Sorry, but I did not get any pics of the house) But, pics can be found at the following website: http://www.advantagevacationhomes.com/PropertyDetails.aspx/3411

This was the home that we rented. It was a positive experience (but I am still waiting to receive the security deposit back. will let you know when I do.)

Everyone but me and Liz got in the pool once we arrived. We ended up getting Papa John's pizza for dinner.

The rest of our party left Louisiana early this moring (8am I think). They did not show up until about 9pm. When they got there, we all unloaded the truck. After this, my mom, bro Leonard and Roy went to wal-mart to do the shopping for the food stuff. The rest of the adults got the kids bathed and ready for bed. Once the shoppers got back, we picked up the stuff and proceeded to get ready for bed. It was probably between 11pm and midnight. I don't know about the rest of them, but once I laid down I was asleep. (Dreaming of disney world in the moring).

up next.................day two..........magic kingdom: here we come.............

That is the first Day 0 report I have seen! Very clever and sounds like it is already full of drama!

I didn't think "Day -1" sounded right, so I went with "Day 0".

I'm glad your in. It was full of drama, but we did have a great time (how can you not have a good time in disney?)

I am hoping to update at least once a day (if life allows mabye more often). We will just have to wait and see!!! :goodvibes

Friday June 12, 2009: Magic Kingdom
●Park Hours 9am to 10pm

[My alarm went off at 6am this morning. I got up immediately. I started the day by knocking on everyone's door to wake them up. I got Elizabeth, Rebecca and Alexis ready for the day (breakfast, teeth brushed, dressed and park bag packed). I got myself ready and my stuff packed. Our plan was to leave for 8am (but that did not happen this morning). Everyone else got up and ready for the day. We left the house around 8:45am. After arriving, we parked ($12 a day per car). This morning we took the ferry boat to the Magic Kingdom (the monorail was very busy this morning). We walked onto the boat (no wait) and it left just a couple of minutes after we got on.

We ended up getting through security and the ticket turstiles around 9:45am. After picking up some maps and times schedules, we decided to head towards Frontierland. My brother Leonard headed to Big Thunder to get fastpasses (it wasn't necessary with Liz because they told us, even though we had ten people, that we could have just gone to the wheelchair entrance together). The rest of us headed to Splash Mountain. Most of us were looking forward to riding this. (**This is where the arguing started. Rena and Alyssa were not sure what they wanted/would ride. This would go on the whole trip. Instead of everyone getting in line and decided while we were waiting, they (my brother Wes and Rena) would argue on whether they wanted to ride or not. Rena did not want Wes to ride anything that she wasn't going to ride (and he wanted to ride everything). You can see where this is going to be a problem. The rest of us were getting impatient waiting for them to make some sort of decision. This happened on most rides. I suggested that mabye we would need to split up so that Wes, Rena and Alyssa could decide what they wanted to ride; but Wes wanted to ride with us, hence the problems.**) So,......................eventually we all got in the stand by line for Splash. It had a 45 min. wait. We only waited about 25 mins (but that was because they eventually sent us to a alternate entrance due to the wheelchair). Once we got to the ride, Elizabeth decided that she was not riding. What we did was, everyone but Elizabeth and Wes' group (Wes, Rena & Alyssa) rode. When we got finished, Wes' group rode. The rest of us (with Elizabeth) walked to the exit. We got fasspasses for Splash at this point for another ride. Everyone who rode loved this ride. (and we did get wet-which was the reason we rode)

After Splash, we headed to Adventureland. We all rode Pirates of the Carribean next (wait time was about 20mins;waited in regular line with wheelchair). This is a favorite of my family. It was a great ride.

After Pirates, my mom wanted to stop for a Dole Whip. My mom, Roy, Leonard, Elizabeth and I stopped for a snack break. The rest of the group walked through the Swiss Family Treehouse. After walking through there, they joined us for a snack break.

After our break, my mom, Roy and I walked through the Swiss Family Treehouse; while the rest of the group rode The Magic Carpets of Aladdin (waited in regular line with wheelchair). I am unsure about the wait time, but by the time we were finished with the treehouse, they were done.

Some pics from the treehouse:

IMG_0908.jpg

Next up was the Jungle Cruise. We went in through the wheelchair entrance. We ended up waiting about 20 mins. because we were waiting for the wheelchair boat. Elizabeth decided that she did not want to come out of her chair this trip. She had ridden almost all rides on previous trips (except Rock-n-Roll Coaster and Mission Space) but this trip she was in one of her moods and did not want out of her chair. She would ask if she could stay in her chair for every ride. There were only a few rides that she would "allow" us to take her out of her chair for. The skipper was funny (can't remember her name). She had a few new jokes. She ended up letting Alyssa and Rebecca "steer" the boat. She asked Alexis if she wanted to dock the boat, but Alexis said no; so Rebecca did it. Both girls loved that they could help steer the boat.

After this everyone decided it was time to eat. Meals were the one thing everyone agreed 100% about. We decided to eat at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe. It was between 1pm and 2pm at this time and they were busy. Wes and his group broght food; so they went and saved a table with the kids while the rest of us went and got our food. I don't know what anyone else ate (probably cheeseburgers); but I got the cheeseburger with fries and an orange juice for me and Rebecca to share. (Rebecca does not have a big appetite. I was constantly "forcing" her to eat something because she would have ate nothing otherwise). Elizabeth ate her babyfood and drank some of my mom's coke.

up next.................."what time is the 3oclock parade?"............................................

By the time we were finished eating, it was almost 3pm. I let everyone know that Elizabeth really wanted to watch the parade. They could have ridden something or watch it with us. They decided to watch it with us. We really enjoyed the parade. Elizabeth loved it. The only complaint I have is that they removed the villians float. Elizabeth loves Malificient and was upset that she did not see her. (We did see her the last day of our trip in the castle show.)

After Splash, we went to ride the Haunted Mansion (30 min wait). Elizabeth decided that she did not want to come out of her chair. So, me and her sat out while everyone else rode it. (I was alittle sad at missing it, but knew I would ride it before we went home). My family loves this ride. (*sometime between the parade and haunted mansion we got fass passes for the Peter Pan ride)

Next up was Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. (10 min wait with fasspasses & wheelchair; wheelchair entrance to the right of the main entrance towards exit) We all rode it and most of us loved it (Rena and Alyssa did not like much of anything).

After Big Thunder, we rode Aladdin again (10 min wait).

IMG_0912-1.jpg

Then we did the Enchanted Tiki Room (waited about 10 mins). It was a nice break from the heat. We did enjoy it, but Rebecca was alittle disappointed. I have a CD with the music from the Original Tiki Room (and she loves it). I did tell her before hand that it was "under new management" and that it was not the same as the song. But, overall she did enjoy the show.

Next up was Peter Pan's Flight. We rode it (four) with fasspasses (six) in wheelchair line. The fasspasses had the longest wait of about five minutes. This is a classic and a MUST DO everytime (it is one of Elizabeth's favorite; and she coudn't wait for us to get her out of her chair!!)

up next......................what will be the last ride of the day?.....................

Now, this was where we finally split up during the day. It was probably around 7pm. I really wanted to ride the Liberty Square Riverboat. Others did not. I said that me and my girls would ride it with anyone who wanted to and the others could do something else. Well, they did not want to seperate, but they did not want to ride the Riverboat. I was MAD at this point. We had spent the whole day with people arguing about what we were going to ride, who was going to ride and using the restrooms every time we turned around; and I really wanted to ride something and everyone was acting like I wanted to committ murder just because I said we should split up. Well, after arguing, me and my girls and Wes and his group ended up riding the Riverboat (the last one of the day, I believe); while the rest went shopping down Main Street.

We waited about 10mins for them to start letting everyone on. We had to go to the right of where everyone else boarded, down a ramp, to get Elizabeth on (wheelchair entrance). The Riverboat was something I don't remember every riding. I thought it was very interesting and we all had an enjoyable ride around the river.

After the riverboat (which was our last ride for the day), we met up with everyone else on Main Street and made our way out of the park. While we did not do half as much in one day as I had previous (no character meetings, did not do as many rides), I was happy just to finally have made it to Disney World.

After getting home, the kids (except Elizabeth), both my brothers and Rena went swimming. I bathed Elizabeth and got her settled for the night. I took my shower and got myself ready for bed. I did eat a salad at the house for dinner. I got me and the kids' stuff ready for the parks for the next day. My mom was bathing Rebecca and Alexis; so once Elizabeth was settled, I went to bed around 10pm. My alarm was set for 6am again.

up next.................Hollywood Studios.............................what adventures await us this day?.........................................

I am really enjoying your TR!! The w/c info is helping me to sorta figure out how this may work on our December trip.

So, Elizabeth was able to ride BTMRR??

We could not let Lauren get on any of that stuff, but she has the rods in her back and a baclofen pump, so I guess that is why? And she can't sit up in a chair at all.

Does Elizabeth have the ability to sit up when she is put in a ride?

And how did you guys do the Peter Pan loading? That was HARD with Lauren. She still tells me that I hit her head on that ride. :rotfl2: I have no recollection! I figured the fact that we got on and didn't fall out was quite an accomplishment! :lmao:

Anyway! I am enjoying your TR! Hopefully everyone starts behaving soon.

I'm glad the w/c info is helpful.

Yes, Elizabeth can ride BTMRR and she is able to sit up when put on a ride. She is top heavy but has very strong arms (from pushing her w/c); so she is able to hold herself up if needed.

Loading Liz on Peter Pan (and any ride with a continuous lmoving loading area) is hard. That is why I always go with others (usually one or both of my brothers) so that they can help with getting her on the rides. This trip both my brothers and my mom's bf Roy helped with picking her up. I could not do it all the time by myself (Liz is heavy!! 60lbs solid weight. She does not "hold" on so well when picked up)

I'm glad you are enjoying the trip report, but unfortunately the arguing never really stopped. The only days when it was calm was when the group did go their seperate ways (which wasn't often enough!). But, it was a great trip overall.

Hopefully, I will be able to post the next day soon. Mondays and Tuesdays at work are BUSY! I tend to end up bringing it home with me on those days.

Have a great day!!!!

That is awesome that you guys had help!

Lauren is 65 pounds. She looks really little. But she weighs a lot more than she looks. I guess because her muscles are always having spasms and it makes them strong and weigh more. Lauren eats like a horse and never gains an ounce. :headache:

I have seen people try to pick Lauren up and are quite surprised with how much she weighs, since she looks tiny.

Getting Lauren on Peter Pan was quite the sight. Especially since she was dressed as Tinkerbell. I wish I had a video camera on the whole thing. Picking her up, but keeping her "covered" and putting her on the ride without completely busting it on the moving walkway. I thought the CM was going to have a stroke right then and there. :lmao:

My trip in December will be with another friend of mine who we don't transfer, she will just ride the stuff she can get on in her powerchair. It is just too tiring for her to transfer and Disney will be tiring enough.

So keep the info re: w/c stuff coming! It is so helpful!! :)

and I can't wait for more of the drama!

I will try to give as much w/c info as I can. I'm glad it is helpful.
And in case you didn't know, each park has a park map for guest with disabilities. It tells you about the rides and where their are companion bathrooms.

More drama will be coming up soon!!! :rotfl2:

Plans: Day 3-Hollywood Studios
Park Hours 9am to 9pm

I was up again at 6am. I woke everyone up (well, at least I knocked on everyone’s door). I got Elizabeth, Rebecca & Alexis ready for the day. Then, I got myself ready for the day. Everyone else got up (eventually) and did their thing. Eventually they were all ready.

Today was a Star Wars weekend day at Hollywood Studios. Being Star Wars fans, we were looking forward to this day. We left the house around 8:30am. We got to the park gate right around 9am. As we were entering, there were Storm Troppers on top of the Entrance. They were talking to each other about the park guests. It was really funny. I had been hoping to get to the park before 9am so that we could have seen more of their “show”; but of course that did not happen.

After entering the park, we had to do the “bathroom stop”. (we had member(s) of our party that had to “go” every time we turned around). While the “bathroom group” went, the rest of us walked into the first store on the main street on the left to look around. I ended up buying some CD’s (4parks 1 world, wishes, and another one) and a Malificent shirt for Liz.

After we all got together again, we had to “discuss” where to go. We ended up heading down Sunset Blvd. We grabbed fast passes for Rock-n-Roll Coaster and decided that we would ride Rock-n-Roll Coaster. The group debated who would ride and who would sit out with the kids (Liz, Becca & Alyssa). Rena ended up sitting with the kids. The rest of us rode and loved it. The wait was about 30mins.

IMG_1349.jpg

IMG_1356.jpg

Next up was Tower of Terror. Rena and Wes sat out with the kids for this ride. The wait was about 30mins.

IMG_1271.jpg

Wes & Rena were fighting apparently over her not riding Rock-N-Roll coaster (she said she didn’t want to but, she claims she thought we said Tower of Terror.) So, Wes, Rena & Alyssa ended up going off together.

At this point, the Star Wars Parade was going to be starting in 30 mins. So, we went towards the main street and got a spot up front (well Liz was up front and everyone else ended up behind her). The kids kept complaining about not being in the front. But, I told them that they moved out of their spots and other people crowded into them. I was not going to tell them to move. The parade was fun to watch.

After the parade, my mom, Roy, Liz, Becca, Alexis and I went and watched the Beauty and the Beast show. Leonard did not want to see the show; so he went and rode Rock-n-Roller Coaster. Wes & Rena were still fighting so they ended up going off together. We really enjoyed the show. We sat in the back row with Liz in her wheelchair (there is w/c seating in the front if you show up early enough).

up next.....................lunch at Sci-Fi...........................

The Star Wars Parade looks super cool!!

Was it really busy at DHS that day? It seems like it would be since it was Star Wars weekend? :confused3

I love the Beauty and the Beast show. :) But I could skip ToT in the future. :rotfl:

Awesome update! :)

:cool1:Great pics, I love the Goofy-Vader one.

Sorry about the family disagreements, it's hard when others have different expectations of what a vacation should be, especially when it's family. I know that on our trips my DD & DS always want to sleep late & I'm ready to go to every park opening. I've made up my mind that on our next trip, I'm going by myself if they don't want to come early. I've scheduled some pre-opening breakfasts at Epcot & MK to get them going, wish me luck.

The parade was really cool. I was glad we were able to catch it.

We mostly stayed on the side by Sunset Blvd. It wasn't really busy. When we went towards Star Tours, that is where the crowd was. But, it was manageable (as long as you didn't want to go in Tatooine Traders, they were PACKED!!

I also love the Beauty and the Beast show. But, I also love ToT. It is a must do for me.

Glad you are enjoying my report. I am working on an update now. I am going to post it soon. :goodvibes

Thanks about the pics. I also love the Goofy one (he is my favorite!!).

Yeah, it is hard. The problem was that my brother's GF and daughter had never been to Disney (they are used to vacationing at the beach). They did not know what to expect. And whenever I suggested we all get together to talk Disney, my family thought I was crazy. For future trips, I will make sure that anyone that goes with me knows that they don't have to do the same things as us or even stay together the whole time. We will defiently make sure everyone understands each others needs and wants before we go.

I'm glad you are reading the report. I am going to update tonight. :goodvibes

It was almost time for our lunch reservations; so we started heading down Sunset Blvd (my group: My mom, Roy, Alexis, Rebecca, Elizabeth and I). We had alittle time to kill; so we checked out some of the stores on Sunset Blvd. As we were doing that, we came upon a “streetatmosphere” show. It was really funny.

After the “show”, my group headed to our lunch reservations at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre. I did not get any pics (it was dark in there). But, I loved the atmosphere. This was Becca’s pick. I got the burger, fries and the Orbiting Oreos drink. They were all good. Becca and Alexis shared a fries and had chocolate/oreo shakes. My mom and Roy shared an onion rings, a chocolate shake and a beer. I would definitely eat here again. Elizabeth decided to stay in her chair during this meal. I was able to park her chair right next to the car. There was plenty of room for her chair to stay there and for the workers to walk around her. It was not a crowded space.

We were unable to locate the others, so we decided to do The Great Movie Ride. Elizabeth was able to stay in her wheelchair. (you enter through the regular line and partway through they direct you to the wheelchair line). I believe the wheelchair accessible vehicle gets the gangster side.

Now after this ride, we finally reach the others. They were mad at us for not “calling enough” to find them. They actually said that we should have kept calling until we reached them. We told them that we were not going to stand around waiting on them. I told them that we were heading to the Little Mermaid show. They wanted to watch Beauty & the Beast. We told them that we would meet them after the show.

So, Voyage of the Little Mermaid was next up for us. This is another favorite of ours. It is a good show. But, I was feeling tired and hot; and sitting in there made me sleepy. I almost feel asleep! We sat in the back row. I don’t know if there is other wheelchair seating because we have always sat in the back.

IMG_3252.jpg

After the show ended, we headed towards the Beauty & the Beast theatre. The kids were hungry so we decided to eat at Rosie’s All American Café. We all ended up getting burgers and fries. Roy got a beer. Wes, Rena, Alyssa and Leonard met up with us to eat. The food was good.

After much debate, we all decided to watch the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. It is the same as before; but we had 1st time visitors and they enjoyed the show. We sat in the back row again (and some of the party sits in the row right in front of us).

We were all hot and tired. We decided to check out the wait time for Star Tours. It was only 20mins; so we got in line. We, of course, really like this ride. I wouldn’t mind if they updated it; but will ride it at least once a trip. Elizabeth was put in the first row of the ride. We were able to push her wheelchair down towards her seat and pick her up to put her on the ride. My brother Wes rode next to her and put his arm in front of her to prevent her from going forward too fast (she has never had a problem riding this, even with her fingers in her ears).

IMG_1510.jpg

(**The only thing we didn’t do that we wanted was character meeting. It was just so hot that noone wanted to stand in the lines.**)

We headed home after Star Tours. Our evening was the same as before (everyone swimming, except my mom, Roy, Liz, and me. We bathed and got ready for the next morning.) I was in bed by 10pm.

Dreaming of lions, tigers and Yetis. Oh My!!

Day 4-Animal Kingdom
Park Hours 9am to 7pm

This morning we had reservation for BBB at Downtown Disney for 9:30am. My mom, Rebecca, Alexis, Elizabeth and I arrive at Downtown Disney around 9:15am. We go to the entrance for BBB and the Fairy Godmothers are waiting. We were greeted and then got the girl’s checked-in. (According to my receipt, the girls were done and I paid at 9:52am.)

This was the best picture they could get of Liz. She starting throwing a fit before we got there. She was saying that she was not going to get her hair done. Once she saw the chair, she decided to let us put her in it. Once they started, she would not let them do the make-up. But, she did let them do her nails. Also, she would not let them put the crown or mickey clip in her hair. She would not wear the sash. But, they were able to put her hair up in the bun. Also, we got to take home the crown & clip; along with the left over make-up and nail polish.

After that, we did alittle shopping in World of Disney. The girls got a baby Marie in a tote, a baby Minnie in blanket, autograph books/pens and a DVD of the Magic Kingdom. (we finished shopping and checked-out at 10:24am)

We headed to the car and I realized that I forgot the Photopass Cards. My mom went back to retrieve them and I loaded the girls into the van. After what felt like forever, my mom got back (with the cards). Thank goodness!!! We were then headed to Animal Kingdom. While on the way, we got a call from the others, saying they were just leaving the house and heading to the park.

By the time we got to the park and through the turnstyles, the others were in the parking lot. Once, we all got together, we had to do the whole bathroom stop.

up next.................will we ever get to ride anything??......................

After the bathroom break (and photo session), Wes went and got fasspasses for Expedition Everest while the rest of us headed to Dinosaur. After Wes met us, we did the whole, “who is going to ride?” dance. Everyone ended up getting in line. The wait was only about 20 minutes. (I’m not 100% sure, but I believe we took an elevator to the loading area and had to pick up Elizabeth to put her on the ride).

After Dinosaur, there was another bathroom break.

I noticed that a Finding Nemo-The Musical show was starting in about 30mins. So, we decided to get in line for that. The line moved for a few minutes and then it stopped. We waited about 10 minutes and then the line moved again. We ended up sitting in the back row and all the way to the right (when facing the stage). We all really like the show. It is definitely a show that I would want to see each trip.

After the show, everyone decided that it was time for lunch. We ended up eating at Restaurantosaurus (my receipt said 2:04pm). I got the chicken nuggets and a coke. It was good. I don’t remember what everyone else had; but everyone was satisfied.

Next up, we head towards Triceratop Spin. When we got there, it was down. Wes, Rena, Alyssa, Alexis and Leonard decided to ride Primeval Whirl. My girls and I sat next to Triceratop Spin to wait for the others.

My mom and Roy decided to walk into a couple of shops right by where we were. Once the others got off of their ride (which they enjoyed), we all rode Triceratop Spin. The kids, of course, really enjoyed this ride.

Our next ride was Expedition Everest.

Elizabeth, Rebecca and Alyssa decided that they were not going to ride. So, Wes & Rena waited with them while the rest of us rode. We LOVE this ride. After our ride, Wes and Rena rode.

Well, everyone decided that we would leave the park so that the “swimmers” could enjoy some pool time (the swimmers are Wes, Rena, Alyssa, Leonard, Rebecca & Alexis). Everyone was in bed by 11pm. Ready for our day at EPCOT. And the girls were looking forward to breakfast with the Princesses!!!!!!!!!

Up next……………..EPCOT……………………and breakfast at Akershus……………..

Hi. I just wanted to let you all know that I received the deposit back on the house. It was returned on 7/17/09. That would be right about 4 wks after our vacation. So, it was within their timeframe. I was very pleased with the house and the company. If I were to stay offsite again, I would definelty use them again.

I hope to have my next park day up by this weekend.

I am glad you got your money back! :)

I am still here! I don't know how I missed the last update!

I don't really have much desire to ride Dinosaur? Isn't it scary? And loud? Is it worth riding?

But I love, love the Nemo show!! That is definitely something I will catch every time I go down there!

Great update! Can't wait for more! :)

Dinosaur can be scary and loud, but that is part of what we love about it. I definetly feel it is worth riding. We ride it at least once every time.

I loved the Nemo show!! I will also see it each time I go to Disney.

I hope to update by this weekend. Mon thru Fri is just so busy for me at work. And this weekend the girls are going to their dad's (first time since last August :confused3). So, that should give me so free time to get another day or two done.
