Our September 2011 Pre-Trip Adventure!! (Update 09/29/2011 - Link to TR!)

Thanks for the advice Abby! :thumbsup2 I will definitely look into the sleeping pills but am not sure if my doctor will prescribe them and also having never had the need to use them I'm not sure what effect they will have on my body. Do they have any side effects etc? I will have a look online and see what information I can find.

It sure does suck not having personal tv's in the headrest on a long haul flight! Oh well, I hope we can keep ourselves entertained for 8 hours!!

Some doctors might not be so willing to write a prescription for something you don't NEED, but it's worth asking. I would definitely do a test run a few nights at home to make sure you don't have any bad side effects. I didn't have any bad side effects from the Ambien, but everyone is different.
They do tell you to make sure you have eight hours to devote to sleep and that you shouldn't be doing anything too complicated during that time. I usually take the pill as they begin boarding. I've done the Atlanta-Paris flight several times and it's just about eight hours, so it works out perfectly for me.

I'm sorry you're going to miss out on ME! I have never done it either. We usually drive to Disney, but when we fly we always rent a car at the airport.

In response to your question, I usually entertain myself in the car with reading and now that I have a portable DVD player I watch DVDs! I like to read my Disney planning books and watch my Disney World DVDs to get myself pumped for the trip! :goodvibes

Aaw thank you  I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. I would love to rent a car one day but don't think we could handle it for our first trip!

I enjoy reading and loved seeing your portable DVD player during your TR. It looks like a great buy! Reading and watching Disney material sure is a good way to get pumped for a trip! :goodvibes

I am definitely getting a laptop before my trip, I just don't know anything about them, so I'm having a hard time picking one out! I found a really nice purple one for a decent price, but...I don't know if I should buy a laptop just because it's purple! I'm going to be so happy to actually have something to do on the flight down, because my DH just puts in his headphones and sleeps, and I nag him the whole time and bother him, about every little noise the plane makes, and ask him "are we there yet" like some 5 year old! :rotfl: I just want to play the Sims on the way down and get there!

I can't wait to be under 100 days! Soon!!! When I booked this trip, I was in the 260's, I think, so time is going by! Although, you're right, I don't want it to get here too quickly, because then it will be over!

Yay I'm glad to hear that! I love the new colours that laptops are avilable in now - we have a plain black one because it was the only choice when we bought ours. Zaheer is the same - just rests and expects me to keep myself occupied, lol!

Time sure is going by very quickly - I love it but just want time to slow down once our trip arrives! :goodvibes

Oh, I hope you can do a few days in London, it's such an amazing city! :lovestruc When I went there years ago, I came home and cried for like, a month because I wanted to go back, I felt so at home there! It does rain a lot, though...at least, it did when I was there! :rotfl:

London is a great city to visit - apart from the weather I enjoy spending some time there and taking in all the beautiful sights :wizard:

I will sure ask :thumbsup2 Yes, a test run seems like a sensible approach. I'm glad to read you didn't have any bad side effects but like you said each person is different.

I will sure have eight hours on the flight and don't think I will be doing anything too complicated!

Yay for 1000 posts :yay:

Thank you Stefy for acknowledging my 1000th post mark!! :goodvibes

Hi everyone! Hope you are all having a great week so far! I have been busy completing a couple of job applications.

Anyway, I think I mentioned that I may be cooking for this movie! Did that happen? I'm sorry to say it didn't! :rolleyes1 We ended up eating at my mums and then with some friends this week so have not had much cooking to do at all!

If I had been making a meal with this movie it would have been spaghetti and meatballs.

So, the movie I watched this week was Lady and The Tramp!

lady3-1.jpg

I loved the romance that blossomed between them :lovestruc
What are your thoughts on this one?

I'm in a bit of a rush as have to go to Weight Watchers (am hoping to lose weight!) and then we are going to the pics! popcorn::

Look forward to reading your reviews! :)

LOVE Lady and the Tramp! :cloud9: As you know, we just watched that one! In a few days we will be watching Lady and the Tramp 2!! It's so fun and has a sweet storyline :goodvibes

I love Lady and the Tramp!!! :lovestruc The part in the beginning when they get her and try to keep her downstairs to sleep and she cries at the door breaks my heart! :sad1: It's such a great movie, I haven't seen it in a while, I have to watch it soon! And making spaghetti and meatballs to go with it is a great idea! :thumbsup2 Part of the reason I want to eat at Tony's again is because I love this movie so much!

Awww! Such a cute movie. A very good lesson for life as well.:thumbsup2

I know those naughty siamise kitties are so bad, but really I think their beautiful! It's the eyes!

Yay! I love your movie of the week! Lady and the Tramp is one of my alltime favorites! :lovestruc I don't think I could ever get tired of it! I really like the sequel too. It's so cute when you see more of their puppies!

CLassic...love that movie....it's one of a few Disney movies I actually remember seeing as a child! Good luck with WW....I lost 15 pounds before we left last year and thankfully I haven't gained any back, but I also haven't lost any more.....so I started again too!!

Yay - I loved it too!! :cloud9: As I mentioned on your PTR that was funny that we were watching it at similar times! I haven't seen Lady and The Tramp 2 at all (I had watched the first one when I was younger) so will have to add it to the list. I'll make sure to make spaghetti and meatballs that time round as well!

I love it too - it is a great movie!! :thumbsup2 That was sad especially when the chair was put in front of the door, however I knew that she would make her way upstairs somehow! It was also funny how it was meant to be the sleeping arrangement for one night but then ended up being much longer!

Definitely watch it soon and the spaghetti and meatballs sure is great food to go with it. I'm a bit gutted that I never got round to making it. I keep seeing all these theme nights and it puts me to shame. One of these days I may surprise you all and actually put some effort into my movie watching! :rotfl: Yep, eating at Tony's for that reason sounds good. I love the little Lady and The Tramp silhouette on the desserts.

Awww! Such a cute movie. A very good lesson for life as well.:thumbsup2

It sure is a cute movie - I love all the characters!! :lovestruc I have to agree that it is a very good lesson for life.

Nooo I didn't like them siamise kitties at all!! I thought they were evil and very mean to Lady!

Yay - I loved the movie too and like you I remember seeing it as a child! I remembered parts of it but it was nice to refresh my memory!

Thank you - yay on losing with WW before your last trip and even better that you have not gained it back! Good luck with starting again - let us know how you get on. I seemed to have lost it quicker with the old plan. The new plan doesn't seem to cooperate with my body as well as the last one!

We love Lady & the Tramp... such a classic Disney movie!

I love it too (can't really say we :sad2:). It sure is a classic and you can't help but enjoy it! :lovestruc

I LOVE Lady and the Tramp. Tracy did this as her movie night this week and I will be doing it too!!!

We haven't had a movie night in a while--Friday nights have become too busy. This Friday we are going to our friends' house, and the girls are spending the night...I think our next movie night will be Swiss Family Robinson.

Wow 2 hours is not long at all! That is cool that you are going to Scotland and then visiting London as well!! :cool1: Just make sure you are prepared for the cold weather - the rain has returned in Manchester, lol! I have been on 8 hour flights before and they have not been too bad, but I have had the personalised tv screens in the seats. This is the first trip where we will not have this so it will be a new experience for us.

Hi everyone! This is my 1000th post on these boards!! :dance3: It feels like only yesterday that I joined - can't believe it has already been 9 months!! I love these boards, meeting new people and hearing new things about Disney World!!

I'm not sure if the post number updates on your own thread - I suppose I will find out in a minute. I hope it works :wizard:

Edit: Yay it worked...so happy!! :)

First off, congrats on your 1000th post! :)

My DH has already warned me about the "weather" in the UK. He went there with his Dad a few years ago to trace their heritage (ie: to visit the whiskey distillery that used to be a part of the family! lol) and he said it was rather blustery, and wet.

Though that should be no different than things are here at the moment, rain straight since Monday. I'm building an ark!:lmao:

I know those naughty siamise kitties are so bad, but really I think their beautiful! It's the eyes!

Agreed on the movie, I still have the original LP that my parents got me as a kid!

And who doesn't love those little evil kitties? :goodvibes "Do you see that thing swimming round and round....?" Classic!

Lady and The Tramp sure is a great movie!!

I read Tracy's movie night and it sounded so simple and yet so much fun. I just need to get someone else interested in watching movies and then I can start having some fun watching them as well!! :lmao:

Look forward to reading about your Lady and the Tramp movie night! :surfweb:

Enjoy your Friday night and weekend! Have just caught up with some old friends myself and had a blast!

Look forward to reading about your movie nights again. I have never seen Swiss Family Robinson - shall add it to the list :thumbsup2

Thank you for the congrats!! :goodvibes

Yep, that sounds like UK weather!! :lmao: Though we have had a nice bit of sunshine recently. Of course you have to visit the whiskey distillery especially as it used to be part of the family!

Yes, it sure is great!

Okay, I didn't. However, you never know may be I need to give them another chance - they may grow on me in time!

Love Lady and the Tramp. Such a cute classic, Jock is such a sweety and Trusty too.

Need to get back into watching all our Disney movies again before we go. Last year we watched all the movies made in order which was fun. Waiting for Tangled to arrive this morning (fingers crossed it does), can't wait to watch that again :teeth:

I love it too. Jock and Trusty are both great and I love the way they help Lady and The Tramp get together at the end - when they realise they have been wrong about him.

Watching Disney movies made in order sure sounds like fun! I did think of doing that but then decided to just go on a random order as am not sure how many I will be able to fit in before our trip.

Ooh I hope Tangled arrive for you and you get to watch it again! :wizard: Talking about it is making me want to see that movie again. I'm going shopping in a couple of weeks and will probably try and get my hands on a copy of Tangled as well :)

Their little puppies are too cute too :)

I can send you our check list if you like. It doesn't have all the Disney Movies on there because we don't tend to buy certain movies like Santa Buddies etc But it has all the main ones :) Let me know if you want it :)

Ooh yes treat yourself to it, such a brilliant movie. One thing I don't get though is why this movie got such a better reception than Princess and the Frog (sorry to go off here), I loved them both equally, yet Tiana didn't get as much love as Rapunzel :(
