I have to say, I can totally understand Max being afraid of the flamingos. If you think about it, they look like giant pink birds, not unlike Pink Elephants on parade.

That could be unsettling for a little kid.
AK looks so cool all empty and misty first thing in the morning. FOTLK is awesome! So glad you all got to see it. Oh and if the bleacher seats bother you, if you sit in the very last row in the Elephant section, the wall provides a bit of a backrest.
We had a truly magical day at AK. The mist in the morning was beautiful and I'm glad that my pictures communicate that, even if just a little bit. Thanks for the tip...they didn't bother me, I just was expecting a theater. I loved the seating, actually. Not a bad seat in the house.
I've read so many great reviews of Tusker House I am convinced our family must try it, though the thought of characters and my boys has me

Love the picture of Max with Daisy so cute
You AK day turned out pretty nice, we did not attempt the boneyard but might have to try it on the next trip
More pool time

can't wait to see if you make your dinner ADR
Yeah, we did some practice runs with costumed characters with Max before we started running the character meal circuit. And every time, he was his usual, charming self, thankfully.

Because he so often isn't.
The Boneyard was great for Max. I think because it was quite clearly just a seriously souped up playground, he felt comfortable there. He knows how to slide down a slide and climb things. He's less sure of dark rides or things that are designed to startle or scare you.
The scary part of the Boneyard for parents, though, is how easy it is to lose sight of your child and with that many kids there, I didn't feel comfortable just letting him run loose while I watched.
And I had the next update all set..ready to go...and then I lost it. Hit something on the computer and POOF! Oh, well. I'll get around to re-doing it soon, I'm sure.
whoopsie! Didn't see a Pt. 2 last time!
Why, oh why, is it so hard to get any decent shots on Safari? Bad cameras? (in my case) Worse photography skills? Uncooperative animals?

I liked yours though!!
I"m afraid I"m going to have to join the Nemo camp. Whereas FoTLK made for some great energy and sing-along, Nemo brought me to tears. And not just the story, the sheer beauty of it is so amazing. Then again, we have only seen the LK movie only a handful of times, and don't have that emotional connection that you and Max do.
The Boneyard seems to be a BIG hit with the 5 and under crowd. Someday, I'll have grandkids to take there!!
As for the safari photos, I know that for me it is combination of my lack of technical skills and my junky camera. I still got some good onces and I'll always have that mental photo in my mind of the exact moment the bus turned and what appeared to be the African savanna just opened up in front of me. I had one of those moments were I truly felt that I was somewhere else... Magic!
I think Max liked it so much because its very familiar to him and he likes to know the lay of the land, so to speak. And, yes you will...
Tina your photos and update are terrific. I just love the empty misty park in the morning. Makes me even more determined to make rope drop at AK, even if I have to do it alone (and I'm pretty sure that would be kinda nice...

)
Max looks so cute giving his big hug to Daisy. Love it!!! Katie's first characters ever at WDW were Donald & Daisy
what's the puddin' reference? I guess I will hit google after this.
Love the Lions Sleeps.....reference. we are corny enough that we probably sing this at least once everytime we go to a zoo or AK!

(ok, I am anyway, DH tolerates me..

)
Thank you! And I would strongly encourage you (or anyone) to go and do at least one or two of the things you alone really want to do while you're at Disney. Personally, I know I will be sneaking off to evening EMHs at MK.

Luckily, I have a husband who'd rather be sleeping at that time of the night!
What a great day at AK! I've been dying to eat at Tusker House for some time now, but for some reason I can never make it happe.

Next time!
We spent over an hour in the boneyard when I was there...and a good thirty minutes of it was solo babysitting time for me, which was a bit stressful! What a cool spot for little kids, though!
AK was really fantastic. Definitely one of the best park days of the trip.
You were solo in the Boneyard.

That's frightening. Luckily, my mom and my husband were all there, so it was much easier to keep it covered.
What great updates! I loved getting to AK before RD to go to Tusker for Breakfast. So much so that I plan to pay oop for a breakfast there on our next trip. It is such a sight seeing the park misty and empty.
I am glad you liked FOTLK. I also am in the Nemo camp... but I do love this show too. I like all the shows...
Funny you say that about Tusker House, as I'm 99% sure it is the only character meal we're doing in July, and I will be paying OOP for it. I really loved it. I hate to sound corny, but we've all fallen so in love with the Lion King that AK really connected with me this time in a way that it just did not when we went last year, prior to my seeing the movie. Don't know I managed to not see it when it was first out.

I saw "The Little Mermaid," and "Beauty and the Beast," so I don't know how I missed LK.
After the comments in response to this update, I think we'll have to try Nemo this time around! And probably try to fit in both of them. Max really enjoyed the shows!
