Our Rockin' Trip to the World~February TR! UPDATE 5/15 ~ LINK TO PTR!!!!!!

Beautiful by Carole King. I'm still in the game. Only about twenty points behind Glenn. :rotfl:

Breakfast looked like fun! I'm glad Max enjoyed the characters. I love the picture of the Castle. Nothing like an empty Main Street. :cloud9:

You are correct...so a point for you! Unfortunately, Glen is so far in the lead at this point, he just might take it, virtually uncontested. :rotfl2: Honestly, though, this is almost as big a challenge to myself as anything else. Just want to see if I can come up with some appropriate lyrics for every chapter title on this trip. I came up with the idea upon reflecting on our rocky airplane ride down to MCO.

Wow, Way to go waking up and getting to your morning ADR at CP on time :thumbsup2

Cute pictures of Max with the characters

There must have been Mickey magic flowing through you to keep you from being tired?;) Looks like a great breakfast I'm so jealous, we were suppose to do the same on our trip, and I ended up cancelling it. :confused3

Must of been! I was pretty tired for the a lot of the trip to be honest. I scheduled three early morning breakfast ADRs right in a row...probably not the best plan in hindsight! :rotfl:

Crystal Palace was great and I would definitely do it again. We have an ADR for July, but I'm debating whether or not I want to keep it. I'm not sure we need to see the characters twice in six months, especially since Pooh and Tigger are around in some other places. And since we're staying CL, it seems silly to spend money for breakfast, especially since we're not huge breakfast people. So.... I'm not sure. :confused3

I am enjoying reading your updates, and am waiting to see your full opinion on the Deluxe DP....seemes like a lot of $ for food...

How excititing to go back this summer and at AKL!

I love all the pictures of you and yours in the park with very little to no one else around. (even if some are while they are walking away from you. ;))

Lots of early ADR's though? And you wouldnt do it again like that? Hmmm... I will have to keep that in mind when scheduling our trip. I think I am in fact planning several early morning ADRS (assuming I can get them)

I hope you have a great Sunday, too. And yes, we're on break this week. Not doing anything special; just spending some extra time with my favorite boys. :rotfl2: Oh, and spring cleaning! I'm determined to organize my house this week, even if it kills me, which it might. :rotfl2: I suspect this also means quite a bit more updating this week. I so want to finish this TR just so I can start the PTR for AKL! Have I mentioned how excited I am about this trip?:banana: :rotfl:

What are you doing this week?

Good to know you are on break as well! We need to get away from school once in a while, don't we? ;)
Like you I am not planning on doing anything special during my Easter week. I need to get the insurance guy on the phone for changing the cars in the policy - YES, we did buy both cars on Friday/Saturday! :woohoo:
I need to clean up this place and I need to UPDATE my reports and reviews! :rotfl2:

And yes, Tina, it IS possible to have two threads (or three or four or five) at the same time! ;) :rotfl2:

Thanks! I could go on about that topic right now...but I'll save it for the end. ;)

I don't regret doing them. You can't beat being among the first group to "open" up the restaurants, or being among the first people in the parks. And I suppose that if I am going to have eat mediocre or buffet food, it migh as well be at breakfast. I just dont' think I would have done them back to back to back. :rotfl: A day off in between each would have probably been good. Or I should at least have not planned on doing one the morning after evening EMHs! :scared1:

Oh, yes, we do! Although, I think I could have easily gone for another couple of weeks before break. The stretch from our April break to the end of the year always feels super long to me, although it is broken up with Memorial Day weekend and our end of the year trip. Which, believe it or not, is to CALIFORNIA this year! :scared1: Crazy. We know that not all of our kids are going to make the trip this year (its sort of a behavioral incentive for them and they have to earn it), and I'm secretly hoping that if they don't all go and have a surplus of chaperones, I won't have to go. I know, I know...free trip to California, but it would be kind of nice to not deal with that this year. I found it very difficult to be away from both Mark and Max for a whole week! :sad1: But, I have a feeling I'll be going! :rotfl:

Enjoy your week. Its nice to get to sleep in and get some things done around the house that need to get done, especially since my summer break is incredibly short this year...and we're spending a week of it at Disney! :goodvibes

And as for having two threads going...I can barely keep up with this one and all the threads I subscribed to!

WOW! I missed not one, but two updates whle I was off. So sorry I was gone for so long! I ran out of internet on the 13th, and didn't have it again until the 16th, but then we ran into the weekend that was super busy!

Your EMH evening looked so super fun!! I am so glad you and Karin and Tom had such a nice time! You really got a ton of attractions done! Sounds like you really all hit it off nicely!

Your CP breakfast looked like a big hit with Max too. :thumbsup2 I hope he warmed up to the Pooh characters because of your buffet! Ahhh... the empty Main Street! NicE!!! :cloud9:

This past Sunday evening, being the the beginning of my week off (and my husband’s), I ventured down to New York City. I was lucky enough to be having dinner with two of my oldest friends from college; one of whom lives in Brooklyn, the other in Queens. We met at a lovely midtown Manhattan restaurant called Artisanal. It was a lovely French bistro-y type place that was, for a restaurant outside of Disneyworld, pretty nicely themed. The restaurant prides itself on its rather impressive collection of cheeses from throughout the world. We were lucky enough to be seated inside the cheese cave, which meant we had our own little private room, and we were surrounded on three sides with the most elegant cheese case I’ve ever seen.

Not wanting to embarrass my city friends, I refrained from taking pictures, although I regret this now. We had a great meal, with a cheese board, of course. It definitely put Chefs de France to shame, but what wouldn’t at this point? No offense to anyone reading this who happens to love Chefs. It remains the worst meal I’ve had at Disney as an adult.

Yesterday, Max had his follow up appointment with his ear, nose and throat doctor after which we decided to do a little shopping . Or the boys did. I came home almost empty-handed, save for a new bathing suit, which I desperately needed. But when you are limited to suits that look like they are either from 1920 or the latest edition of the Amish swim catalog...let’s just say swimsuit purchasing just isn’t all that much fun.

We stopped at one of our favorite restaurants, which also happens to have a carousel outside. A very small, very boring carousel. After Max jumped off he wanted to know where the rest of the rides were. I assured him there would be more when we went back to Disneyworld this summer!

I leave you with a few Max pictures...

PLEASE do not apologize, Liesa. We all get busy. I'm actually just curious about the folks who apparently visit my page without stopping to say hello! :goodvibes I hope you're all transitioning to your husband working again fairly easily. Your family has certainly been through some big changes since you've moved.

We had an incredible time. I really was so nervous meeting everyone for the first time. You just don't know how it will go. And we had never so much as spoken on the phone before.

CP was fun and Max did have a great time.

And there's nothing better than an empty park.

When my girls went to the zoo, they rode on a carousel there. They did not understand why the only rides were the carousel and a train. I explained to them that this was the ZOO, not WDW...so they started singing "It's a Small World" to make it seem more like it:lmao:!

Sounds like a lovely restaurant. Glad you were able to get some time to yourself and have a girls night.

Yeah for a new swim suit, even if it's not fun, I really don't like swimsuit shopping and have had the same suit for a few years now, need a new one, but just cringe everytime I go try on what is available to me, so I'm hoping to purchase two this year so I don't have to buy any for a long time :lmao:

Max is so cute on the two rides, and yippee for wanting more rides at Disney :yay:

And now my net book died. I'll likely spend way too much time trying to recover pictures and getting it replaced. Luckily it is still under warranty.

His first day of work was great. The state issued him all the gadgets a true geek could ever want... GPS, clinometer, State radio, you name it. He even beat me home from playing Taxi Mom last night, despite his hour long commute. I think he's going to like it just fine :)

I was so nervous for my first DISMeet too. Not really with Mary, but with the others- they all end up being WAY too short.

Cheese.. I LOVE cheese!! My faves are the hard Italians! I even love a stinky brie or camembert as well. I had a nice offering somewhere at Disney, although I 'm not saying where just yet...

How very cool you took a little trip down to NY. I guess I didn't realize how close/easy of a trip it would be for you. My dh has a business trip in September to NY. I might go with him. Neither of us have ever been to NY... I think I want to since I really could use a mini vacation at some point this year... but it could be a bit scary for us small town, west coast folk. ;)

I have never seen a Pumbaa ride before. That's very interesting. Max looks cute riding the carousel, even if it's no PC Regal.

Your dinner sounds fun. It sounds like a really cool restaurant. I picture it sort of like Le Cellier, only Frenchier and with more cheese.

How nice you got to go out with your friends! And believe me, nothing odd about taking pics of food! ;) Our friends even wait until we have taken the pictures before they "dare" to dig in! :lmao:

And how fun to read that Max was missing "the other rides"! :rotfl2: He is just sooooo cute!

Cute pictures of Max on Pumba and the carrousel.

I hear you on the bathing suits...I'd rather go to the dentist than looking for a bathing suit.

:lmao: Max has been known to break into "It's a Small World" occasionally. :rolleyes1 And someone...don't know who...might have made him listen to the song from Carousel of Progress so many times that he knows that one by heart, too!

Thanks, it was a lovely evening. And I was definitely encouraged by his reaction to riding the little carousel.

Sorry about your computer Liesa. That's tough. Ours died awhile ago and we had to replace it. When I think back to how long I had my original computer and printer and how many we've gone through in the last ten years or so...it boggles my mind.

Glad to hear the job is going well. What is a clinometer?

The cheese was great. Its truly one of my favorite things in the world.

Its very easy! I went to college in Bronxville, which is just north of the Bronx, so I've been making the drive for a very long time. I'm used to it now and have my own preferred way of going. I can do it in under two hours, as long as I don't hit crazy traffic. I tend not to hit a lot of traffic by traveling at off times, like late Sunday afternoon, for example.

I hope you get to come to New York. It is amazing and something everyone should see at least once. I can't imagine actually living there full time, though. Its too much for me. Too much of pretty much...well, everything. :rotfl:

And who knows...maybe there could be a Dismeet while you're here, too! :yay:

You're too funny, Karin! And, yes, Max is very cute! Mark and I are in the middle of spring cleaning (what a way to spend our time off, huh? :sad2: I somehow remember my last break being a lot more fun!) and we organized and found all of his cars and he's so super excited, its adorable.

I think you managed to post while I was replying. :rotfl2: And yeah...bathing suit shopping..a necessary evil, for sure.
