I am going to start this by introducing my family so you will know who you are reading about:

castle.jpg

Me: a 29 year old 4th grade teacher. I am the person who tells everyone yes to everything they ask me to do at school, church, family, whatever, where ever...I needed a vacation!

DH: a 29 year old automotive factory worker who would work himself to death so that our family could have what we want/need. He is also my high school sweetheart who I dated all through college. He waited for me. What a doll!

DD5: a high-energy sweetheart who would live at Disney and eat every meal with characters if she had a choice.

Our vacation started on May 28th when we left Tennessee at 8:00am for sunny Florida! This was to be a trip of a lifetime, a surprise for my daughter's 5th birthday and my husband's first trip. I knew that my husband needed to be as happy and comfy as possible. He can sometimes decided he doesn't like places at all when he is inconvienced, and I knew I wanted him to WANT to go back, so we were headed to the Polynesian! My DH got of work at 6:30, came home, showered, and we hit the road. We drove it straight through, I should say, my husband drove it staight through with no sleep. What a man!

We arrived at the Hampton Inn Lake Buena Vista at 7:00 eastern time. It was very nice and the price was fantastic! After a good night's sleep and mickey waffles for breakfast (off-site, no less! Who knew!), we surprised DD5 with a small wrapped box that let her know that we were headed to the World! We quickly loaded the car with our overnight bag, and drove to the Poly to check-in.

Check-in was easy since we had completed online check-in. They basically handed us our leis and folder with our info. Our room, Figi 1315, was not ready so we walked to the TTC and headed over to Epcot. We made rope drop (not something I thought was even possible), rode Soarin' and got fastpasses, and then went to a late breakfast in Akershus with the princesses.

Our breakfast was wonderful, just as I remembered it. The only odd moment was when the people in the character table rotation ahead of us were very cruel to the princesses when they came to their table. Snow White was completely caught off guard. So much so, that she broke character when she came to our table, telling us "That guy was just so mean to me! I mean, he cannot talk to us that way!" She then signed my DD5's autograph book, smiled for a picture without really even talking to her, and left to go tell the other "royalty" to avoid the table. We paid and left after seeing the rest of the characters.

Next, we went around park of the World Showcase, counter clockwise, enjoying several giftshops as we went around. My DD5 and I each picked a pearl in Japan. We both picked oysters that contained silver pearls. The lady behind the counter was super nice, but also very loud, so she kinda scared my daughter who is not normally shy. We had them mounted into matching flower pendants. I just love them!

After riding Soarin' again, we received a text that our room was ready, so we left Epcot to get "moved in". This was perfect timing because as soon as we got to the Great Ceremonial House, the sky opened up, and it started pouring!

My husband pulled the car up, and unloaded it with the bellservices as my DD5 and I waited. I was apprehensive about actually seeing our room because I read some not-so-good reviews here on disboards before leaving, and I was very worrried!

Our room was beautiful! It was clean with a towel-Mickey on the bed, which my DD5 loved. Shortly after getting settled, everyone was hungry, so I went to Captain Cook's to get us a snack.

We napped (both my husband and my DD5 were exhausted) and then we were off to 1900 Parkfare. I ordered a birthday cake through the GF Bakery weeks before we left, so I was also anxious to see if it would be what I wanted...

More tomorrow! Thanks for reading!

It was still raining when we woke up from our lovely naps. We got ready and got on the monorail to go to 1900 Parkfare. Upon checking-in for our ADR, I asked if it was possible to have the cake delivered to the table before the meal. I wanted it to be in all the pictures. It was there when when we were seated and it was beautiful. It looked just as I had asked, blue fondant with white polka dots, a white sugar butterfly and rose, and a white chocolate slipper on top. All the characters were great, but the food was on the brink of nasty. We ate there in October, and I remembered the food being better.

At the end of our meal, we let DD5 have some of her cake. I tried a piece as well. YUCK! I think because it was a 6 inch cake, maybe it was a frozen one, but that still should have had some flavor to it. It was like eating a tasteless kitchen sponge. :headache: The icing was gritty underneath the fondant. My daughter did not even eat it. She ate the rest of the decorations off the top and we threw the rest away. It did look great in our pictures though:goodvibes

After dinner, we went back to the hotel and got ready for the next day in Magic Kingdom.

May 30th- Magic Kingdom

We started our morning with a 7:30 ADR at Ohana. Our breakfast was as delicious as I remembered. The characters were very attentive. We were seated so that we were the first to see the characters as they came out of the kitchen. Our service was kinda stinky here. We had to ask for a plate of fruit and for more juice multiple times.

We rode the monorail to Magic Kingdom for rope drop. I had never been to rope drop at Magic Kingdom. My DD5 loved the characters coming in on the train. When we finally managed to squeeze in through the hallways entering the park, we were with 1000 people all rushing to Dumbo. :dumbo:This was first on our touring plan, but the line was VERY long by the time we got there, so we rode Peter Pan and It's a Small World, which were basically walk on. We then went down and got Splash Mountain fastpasses. Since we were right there, we jumped on Thunder Mountain, which we rode 2 times in row because DD5 loved it so much. We rode Splash Mountain next, and then went over to Space Mountain, grabbed some fastpasses and some icecream.:mickeybar
At this time, it was already very hot and all I could think about was the episode of John and Kate where they went to MK. She kept screaming after they ate the icecream "The children are ruined!:scared1: They are ruined!" Being that I DID NOT want to overreact like this (and I do overreact quite often), I just watched DD closely and it seemed like there was no mess at all. By this time, it was around 11:00, so we needed to go get into line to meet Tiana. We were the first ones in line to meet her, and this is where we discovered that apparently a piece of the chocolate from the outside of the Mickey icecream bar had fallen into the stroller and our DD had sat in it! She looked like she had messed all over the bottom of her shirt and all over her shorts. We managed to get most of it off with wet wipes, and ended up tucking her shirt in, so no one was the wiser.

We toured Tom Sawyer Island, rode Splash Mountain again, and then went to our lunch ADR at the Crystal Palace.:tigger::eeyore:

That is quite a drive from TN, but nice to be there and get to Poly, then EPCOT early after a restful night off site. Did you enjoy the marina view?

Enjoying your TR - looking forward to more. :)

sounds like the start of a pretty good trip. looking forward to more

Thanks!

Our view was amazing! The 2nd day while sitting on my Poly patio, I posted on the resort boards that I coud not remember the last time I was that relaxed. It was a massage for my soul! I requested another building, but I am SO glad we got Figi. Now, next time, I will be scared that I won't get it!!!!

May 30th continued...

We were starving, so we checked in for our Crystal Palace ADR early hoping they would take us, and we were pleasantly surprised to only have about a 5 minute wait. The food was just as fresh and yummy as I remembered it. My husband, loved the mashed potatoes and carved roast beef. My favorite is the pasta prima vera (sp?). I sure could go for some now! The service here was the best of our entire trip. Anyway, they brought my DD a birthday card with the signatures of all the characters and a cupcake with a lit candle on it. We sang happy birthday to her, finished up, and rolled ourselves to the monorail.

Speaking of the monorail, I was amazed at just how great it was to be back at our hotel in a matter of minutes. I knew it would be faster, but wow, I did not miss waiting on those buses!

We got a nice long nap and then we were off to the Grand Floridian Cafe for dinner. The food was really good, however our service was very bad. We saw our server 3 times, when she took our drink order, took our food order, and brought our bill. This was the worst service of our trip, and I did end up saying something to management which made my husband mad because he says everyone has bad days now and then.

We went back to MK and were very glad we had hoarded fastpasses all day. We each had 1 Space Mountain, 2 Thunder Mountain, 2 Splash Mountain, and a Peter Pan. We rode all of these and the Tea Cups. My husband rode the Haunted Mansion while my DD and I scoped out a place for Wishes. We ended up on the bridge under the Tomorrowland sign. It was a great place to see Tinkerbell, but the trees covered some of the fireworks. After Wishes, we moved up to Main Street and got a place for the second SpectroMagic parade. It was beautiful!

I gotta say, that we could have gone home after this day and it still would have been a perfect vacation. I was very nervous about this day because it was a 10 on the crowd calendar, but with smart planning (thanks to my Dis friends), it was still all I wanted it to be...

The next day, was Memorial Day at Animal Kingdom...

Wow! It sounds like you did a great job planning! I'd love to see a picture of your DD's birthday cake! (Even though it didn't taste good. :sad2:) We're going for my DS's 6th birthday and I've been thinking of ordering one.

Thanks!

I remember that post! I replied to that one too. ::yes:: It was fabulous to hear from you "live" right from Figi!! :goodvibes

Have always wanted to try Figi, but with 10/12 stays since 1982 we've always been Tokelau or Rapa Nui (both had different names back then). We're spoiled by the wider hallways, and extra large rooms....but....Figi is such a fabulous location and views to die for that I really must request it one sometime.

Three DIS'ers have a mom's only trip in Dec (all of the kids will have gone before then) and we are staying Poly CL TPV!!!! (thanks to a 40% pin).:yay:

Hey, you are one away from 10,000 posts! I'd find something to say to someone! Too cool!

Oh my gosh, I never would have noticed!!! Thank you!!

Okay, here's to post # 10,000!!! :dance3: :woohoo: :yay:

Gee, guess I talk a lot...and lurk more than I actually post!!:scared1:

We started out our day eating muffins and cinnamon rolls we snagged the night before from the Main Street Bakery. YUM! Then, we headed over to Animal Kingdom and managed to make rope drop again. We went straight to Everest, where we first got our Fastpasses and then rode within 5 minutes. We walked the trail (I'll edit the name in later) where my DD oved the huge bats and the tigers. We went to get Kilamajaro Safari Fastpasses next, and then went to our brunch at Tuskerhouse with Donald. We had to wait almost an hour for this one. It was worth it, though. Good food, service, and that yummy juice! After brunch, we rode Kilamajaro Safari and walked the other trail. That was when my husband said, "Let's go ride the Dinosaur." My DD had ridden everything we had at this point including Space Mountain. Not a flinch. I knew it was scary, but what I did not realize how loud it was! At least in the Haunted Mansion she could cover her eyes if she was scared. It was TERRIFYING for her! She did not want to ride ANYTHING after this! I know I should have researched this better. I just know how she loves Littlefoot...I'm smarter than this. Needless to say, all her Great Valley friends (from The Land Before Time) are sacked up ready for the church yardsale. Oops!

My husband rode Everest again and gave away our Fastpasses (DD was NOT going to go again:headache:). Then, we went back and just sat around until our 6:00 ADR at Kona Cafe. YUM! YUM ! YUM! The food was fabulous and so was the service. We both had the chicken noodle soup for our appetizer and bread (OH THE BREAD!). My husband had steak, I had the coconut chicken salad and DD had the grilled chicken over noodles. It was all so good! For dessert, we shared a Kona Kone, chocolate fondue, and DD had the make your own sundae. It was all just so good! Then we went back to the room where DD slept, and we relaxed.

The next day was Epcot again!

We spent the next day in Epcot. We had an early ADR at Akershus (again, I know! Love those pototoes!), so we got into the park early. We had a lovely breakfast. Funny to me that all the princesses were different, except Snow White, who had been distracted the last time. She was great this time, so I know the man who was ugly to her is what caused her to be less than friendly last time. After this, we went to ride Misson Space, Test track, and Soarin'. We then went into the World Showcase to meet some characters. We met Mulan, Aladdin, and Jasmine before going to our ADR at LeCellier.

Now, my LeCellier review. DO NOT FLAME ME! THIS IS JUST MY OPINION AND I HAVE NEVER CLAIMED TO BE A FOOD CRITIC! I was just not that impressed. It was good, but I expected AMAZING! I had the cheese soup, mushroom filet with the mashed potatoes, and the chocolate cake. My husband had the spicy chicken and sausage, new york strip, and he did not want dessert. It was all okay, but I really thought our dinner at Kona was much better. My DH had steak at both places and said they were both good, but nothing outstanding. I guess I gassed it up in my mind because it is so hard to get into. I would eat here again, but I do not think I would stalk them on the computer as I did before just so I could eat there. I don't get it. It was good, but I have had much better.:confused3

After leaving LeCellier, we went to try to meet Marie in France. We waited for an hour and all the CMs (the 3 we spoke to over the hour time frame) said she should be out in a minute. Well, then it began to rain, we left to seek shelter. After about 15 minutes hiding in a walkway between stores, but decided to brave the rain. We rode Nemo and Soarin, again. Then, we went and rode "the ride in the big ball" as my DD called it. We went to Club Cool, Innoventions, Nemo for a second time, and then rode Living with the Land. We went to our ADR at Garden Grill early, mostly because we wanted to go back to the hotel and not come back. We were so tired! Our food at the Garden Grill was okay, but none of us were hungry. This was the point on the DxDP where I wondered if I would ever be hungry again. We really only went to meet Chip and Dale. I will say that I thought their salad was super yummy and the dessert was good, too.

We left after dinner and crashed at the hotel. Exhausted! The next day was Hollywood Studios!

Two nice updates!

No flames here... ;) Know what you mean about LeCellier - we've eaten there three times, but do not understand why it is so popular. Food was just okay.

We've had breakfast and lunch at Kona, but will have dinner in December - that chocolate fondue sounds fabulous...but no dinning plan, so probably will not have dessert. :(

Thanks for the updates- looking forward to more. :goodvibes

We got to see Chip & Dale when we stayed at Fort Wilderness Campground. They have a campground sing along with Chip & Dale, where you watch a movie and roast marshmallows.

Hi there! First of all, your little girl is ADORABLE!!

I was just writing in my TR about our experience at 1900 PF.. we had been there in 2006 and the meal was INCREDIBLE! So we went back this April and wow did it go SO downhill! So sad! That cake you got looked AMAZING, it was disappointing to read it wasn't so good either. We got a cake at 1900 PF in 06, and it was the best I have ever tasted in my life, so I guess the buffet food isn't the only thing that's gone downhill. :( Sad!

It seems like you are finding the DxDP to be a little too much food... I am an addict of going out to dinner and I love making our ADRs.. but I think the DxDP might be just a little TOO much, especially at Disney. We like to resort hop though, so maybe we'll try it for like 3 days out of our next trip or something.

Keep the good updates comin'! :wizard:

im in.. how did you like the dxdp with your daughter? did you feel you were running all oer the place to make your adrs??

Your daughter is adorable!

Thanks for the picture of the cake! It's very pretty--too bad the taste didn't match! I think we'll skip it for my DS. We're going on a Disney cruise starting the day of his birthday, so we'll just take the complimentary cake.

I think I got a frozen cake because I ordered a cake less than 10". I have heard wonderful things about their cakes that are fresh. I think it would be worth the extra $20 to have a larger cake that tastes good.

I did not think it took to much time because we did not park hop, so I had to have our ADRs together in one park. Also, I got our dinners in the park or on the way to the park we were visiting so we were not backtracking. We had a car, so that made it easier. It was super hot so it was nice to know we had a cool place to eat. The very last night we were so tired of real food, that we canceled our ADR and ate CS. Pizza never tasted so good! I will get it next time because she likes character breakfasts and we like steak! It is a good value for us because even if they come out a few dollars ahead on the price, I do not have to worry about money and budgets all week. It really makes it feel like a vacation!

LOVE the pics!! Beautiful family!! Maggie is adorable!

Thank you! I think she is the greatest!
