I am going to start this by introducing my family so you will know who you are reading about:
Me: a 29 year old 4th grade teacher. I am the person who tells everyone yes to everything they ask me to do at school, church, family, whatever, where ever...I needed a vacation!
DH: a 29 year old automotive factory worker who would work himself to death so that our family could have what we want/need. He is also my high school sweetheart who I dated all through college. He waited for me. What a doll!
DD5: a high-energy sweetheart who would live at Disney and eat every meal with characters if she had a choice.
Our vacation started on May 28th when we left Tennessee at 8:00am for sunny Florida! This was to be a trip of a lifetime, a surprise for my daughter's 5th birthday and my husband's first trip. I knew that my husband needed to be as happy and comfy as possible. He can sometimes decided he doesn't like places at all when he is inconvienced, and I knew I wanted him to WANT to go back, so we were headed to the Polynesian! My DH got of work at 6:30, came home, showered, and we hit the road. We drove it straight through, I should say, my husband drove it staight through with no sleep. What a man!
We arrived at the Hampton Inn Lake Buena Vista at 7:00 eastern time. It was very nice and the price was fantastic! After a good night's sleep and mickey waffles for breakfast (off-site, no less! Who knew!), we surprised DD5 with a small wrapped box that let her know that we were headed to the World! We quickly loaded the car with our overnight bag, and drove to the Poly to check-in.
Check-in was easy since we had completed online check-in. They basically handed us our leis and folder with our info. Our room, Figi 1315, was not ready so we walked to the TTC and headed over to Epcot. We made rope drop (not something I thought was even possible), rode Soarin' and got fastpasses, and then went to a late breakfast in Akershus with the princesses.
Our breakfast was wonderful, just as I remembered it. The only odd moment was when the people in the character table rotation ahead of us were very cruel to the princesses when they came to their table. Snow White was completely caught off guard. So much so, that she broke character when she came to our table, telling us "That guy was just so mean to me! I mean, he cannot talk to us that way!" She then signed my DD5's autograph book, smiled for a picture without really even talking to her, and left to go tell the other "royalty" to avoid the table. We paid and left after seeing the rest of the characters.
Next, we went around park of the World Showcase, counter clockwise, enjoying several giftshops as we went around. My DD5 and I each picked a pearl in Japan. We both picked oysters that contained silver pearls. The lady behind the counter was super nice, but also very loud, so she kinda scared my daughter who is not normally shy. We had them mounted into matching flower pendants. I just love them!
After riding Soarin' again, we received a text that our room was ready, so we left Epcot to get "moved in". This was perfect timing because as soon as we got to the Great Ceremonial House, the sky opened up, and it started pouring!
My husband pulled the car up, and unloaded it with the bellservices as my DD5 and I waited. I was apprehensive about actually seeing our room because I read some not-so-good reviews here on disboards before leaving, and I was very worrried!
Our room was beautiful! It was clean with a towel-Mickey on the bed, which my DD5 loved. Shortly after getting settled, everyone was hungry, so I went to Captain Cook's to get us a snack.
We napped (both my husband and my DD5 were exhausted) and then we were off to 1900 Parkfare. I ordered a birthday cake through the GF Bakery weeks before we left, so I was also anxious to see if it would be what I wanted...
More tomorrow! Thanks for reading!
