Today we had PS at Chef Mickey’s for 8:45. Since we were doing so good getting up and out early, we decided to make our move before breakfast. So we got ready, packed up the car, and left ASMO by 7:10. We got to the Polynesian and checked in all by 7:45. As happy as I was with ASMO, I absolutely LOVE the Polynesian. It is my favorite place on WDW property. Anyway, our room wasn’t ready, so we locked up the car and hopped the monorail to the Contemporary. We got to ride up front, except DH(we elected him to sit out since he had ridden in front with the kids on another trip). That was a neat experience. I just wished Colton didn’t pick then to have a temper tantrum(maybe that’s why we didn’t get lisences?).

We arrived at the Contemporary around 8:15, took a bathroom break and let the kids watch the toy train and monorail that they had set up, to kill time. We checked in at Chef Mickey’s at 8:30, got our picture taken, and were told to wait until our table was ready. As soon as we left the picture area, Goofy came over to us and gave Colton a banana (one of those “too cute!” moments). While I was trying to take a picture, we were told our table was ready when we were done with Goofy. Breakfast was great, as usual. This is DH’s favorite part of every trip (he is a breakfast person). The characters were constantly at our table, and we got a lot of great pictures.

When we finally couldn’t eat anymore, it was off to MK, and we entered the gates at 10:00am. I found today to be more crowded than we had seen all week. We rode Alladin 2x (with a 5 minute wait), Jungle Cruise, and Thunder Mountain . I got to do this 2x since we did the baby swap. Next it was on to Haunted Mansion with a 15 min wait. I still cant get Cameron on this one. Now to finish off Cameron’s quest it was back to Buzz Lightyear. Although the wait was posted 15 min, we only waited about 7. We did it 2x so that Cam could reach his goal of 4 rides on Buzz Lightyear. By now DM had enough of us(LOL) and she took off shopping. Next we were going to try out the Diamond Horseshoe Revue, but when we got there it looked pretty full, and we weren’t hungry so we skipped it. DH had remembered from when he was a kid that he liked the Swiss Family Tree House, so we did that thinking the kids would like it. While I wasn’t thrilled, the kids (well, Cameron at least) wanted to do it again. So the boys did that again, and I took DM's idea and went off shopping too. Later we all met up in the Emporium. The boys went to get ice cream, while DM and I finished up and grabbed a space for the new MK parade. We watched this and really enjoyed it. I don’t know if it was having the castle right in the background, or the parade itself, but it just seemed very magical to me.

After the parade we took the monorail back to the Polynesian, arriving at 4:00. We got our leis in the lobby, and then went to our room. We were on the first floor in Raratonga. We could see the monorail from our room. Even Cameron was excited about this place (maybe he’s been listening to me too much?). The room was gorgeous (no smell), the grounds were gorgeous, we even had ducks outside on our patio. Did I mention I love it here? We got settled in and try to come up with a plan since this was the one night I sort of didn’t have a plan for. We decided we wanted to eat at the Kona at 8:00. We called for PS and were able to get it at 8:10. So by 5:00, we were off to the volcano pool. The view from the pool/beach area is breathtaking. Just seeing that castle beyond the water gave me chills. The kids loved the pool, and with the entry the way it is, it was very convenient for little ones. Its almost like a wading pool at the beginning. At 6:00 DM & I went to the lobby to catch the torch lighting ceremony. We couldn’t get the kids out of the pool for that, but I videotaped it. It was pretty cool to see that. Then I went back to the room to get ready and soon everyone else followed. We were in the GCH by 7:45 so we did some shopping there. We checked in at the Kona around 8:00 and were seated immediately. The Kona is now my favorite restaurant in WDW(or anywhere for that matter). Everything was wonderful! At about 8:50 we were done (we eat fast) and the waiter came to see if we wanted anything else. DH suggested another drink, but I looked at my watch and said , no we might make it to the Electrical Water Pageant. When we booked our PS, I thought for sure we would miss the EWP, but we did great on time. When the waiter heard this, he was very prompt in getting us our check. We made it to the beach right at 9:00 when EWP began. That was another nice thing to see, especially with the castle in the background changing colors. It is just so beautiful there. Then to end our vacation, we went up to the Tambu Lounge for one last drink. DH & I had spent the last night of our honeymoon there during a hurricane (6+ yrs ago), so it always has special memories for me. Just sitting there, sipping a tropical frozen drink and watching the castle change colors cant be beat.

Tomorrow- Kona, & Goodbye:(

It sounds like you ended a Perfect day with a Romantic Moment! I am enjoying all your trip reports! Thanks for Posting.

much to life for us the readers.....thanks again

What a special evening you had!! Sounds very magical! The rest of your day was great too! The Kona Cafe sounds like a great place for dinner.

Its funny, this was such a great evening and it all came about at the last minute. MK was supposed to stay open until 9:00, with Spectro at 8:00 and Fireworks at 9:00. Then they reduced the hours on us and cancelled those(they had just extended the hours a few weeks earlier). Thats why we didnt really have any "plan" for that night, except to enjoy the Polynesian. Everything did work out great though.

In fact, DH & I are currently booked at Pop Century for a night in July before our cruise. After spending time at the Polynesian and remembering why I love it so much, Im having a hard time not changing our reservation to there. I just have to work on DH a little more. ;)

CamColt--another time when we were together and didn't know it. We were at the pool the same time as you. I sat with my feet up reading the paper while DH swam with the kids at the Volcano pool. We were there about 5-7. But I left early to do some shopping too before our 8:15 ps's at Kona. We were also at the MK most of the day too! Small world!!!

That is so funny! DM & I were on chairs at the low end of the pool facing it, with our backs toward the beach. There was a woman next to us sitting out, was that you? My kids were the ones who kept running out of the pool to eat character cookies every 2 minutes. Everytime Colton would run back in, he would wipe out. He loved it though, so we could laugh at it. Im trying to think of things that might have made us stand out. Where were you? Ill have to check my video and look for you because I did take some footage of the pool area(isnt it beautiful?). Now that I think of it, Cameron was playing with another family there. They were all lying down in the low area trying to listen to the underwater music. that wasnt your family, was it?

I was sitting exactly opposite the volcano at a table under an umbrella with my feet up on another chair. I was reading the paper I had received that morning and drinking from a refillable mug. My boys, 8 and 12, and my dh were playing continually in the water. They did mention several times about the music being heard underwater. I do remember that the pool wasn't very crowded at all. Come to think about it, I was standing at the shallow end taking some pictures of the pool. I'll have to check the pictures and see if your kids are in them, or you and mom. How old were your kids again?

I was over in your area taking pictures of the volcano. This is just too weird.
Colton is 20 months & Cameron is 4 1/2. DH was in the pool with them. I was wearing a black one piece bathing suit with a sheer black, long sleeve cover up(can you tell it was the end of vacation, after eating all week, I was covering up as much as possible, LOL!).

I remember you walking past me!!! I loved your cover up, and wished I had the nerve to wear something so pretty! Did you have a camera around your neck?

I probably had the video camera over my shoulder(with the shoulder strap), or I would have been carrying the regular camera. Yes, I was the photographer of the trip :) . Im working on getting some pictures up here. I got them scanned, I just cant get them up to Photopoint so I can post them(of course Im doing the same thing Ive done before, they just arent showing up:confused: )
Thanks for the compliment too!
Well, keep checking, hopefully Ill get the pictures posted here sometime.

Check out those sticky wings!!!

CamColt--my dh's head is sticking out of the water on the far left side of your second picture, about in the middle. Too funny. I'll have to look through my pool pictures and see if your kids are in them.

Love the pictures, thanks for sharing!!

My husband also had the sticky wings on our last trip to the Kona Cafe, I can't believe how many they give you!!

:)

Oh yes! And they are soooo good(DH said only my Chinese Chicken Wings are better;) ). Everything at the Kona was delicious. I cant wait to go again in July!
