Our *outstanding* 8th trip to WDW!! (Photo's Added!!)

It was pretty neat to see her taping stuff and then to get to watch it on TV and say you were there. From what I read here, she was all over the place that week and many people saw her out and about. Not as cool as another fellow trip reporter who literally ran into Neil Patrick Harris at Animal Kingdom (NPH!!) Suit up!!

Oooh- I think I know who you are talkin' about here;) But I must say that my DH would have much rather seen/met Samantha Brown. As much as he enjoys Barney, he is totally in love with that woman. He watches all her shows and specials and calls her "Sammy". He will be so jealous when I show him your picture!

Gus looks mighty handsome with his haircut! I bought DH that same Mickey shirt for Christmas!

I just found your TR today and absolutely love it. :goodvibes I especially loved seeing the hidden mickeys on the Jungle trek. And since I'm watching the Empire Strikes Back right now I really enjoy seeing Gus's Jedi shirt. :rotfl: Keep up the good work. :)

:welcome: and thanks for the comments! Now I want to go watch ESB!! It's been far to long!

That's so cute about your husband. Hopefully you guys can run into her someday. When we first started watching the Travel Channel we actually couldn't stand Samantha Brown. She was just far to perky for us but eventually she totally grew on us! Now we watch just about anything she's in. It's kinda hard not to like her!

I can't believe I missed your last update, and it was SUCH a good one!

First of all, the Gus OJ Explosion story is HYSTERICAL! Trying to hang from those poles is something my DH would so try to do. He would also probably have fallen, and I would have done what any good wife would do----walk away as if I didn't know him! :goodvibes
When Gus was "rehashing" his breakfast, did anyone stop? Did anyone notice what was going on?

Awesome pic with Miss Brown! I bet she was just as nice in person as she seems on tv.

Aww! We're in your trip report! Those were the days... I think we may actually be able to see Gus' 15x15 OJ upchuck stain still...

No, no one was brave enough to stop but we did hear people snickering as they walked by! One lady said, "oh, he must be pregnant."

No way!! Well at this rate...you guys will probably be back before us so let me know. Those were the days, now it seems like another Grand Villa extravaganza will never happen. Growing up sucks!!

Is anyone still there??? lol

Sorry...again!! I'm lagging, I know!! Hopefully I can update tomorrow night or Saturday!!

I love your TR:thumbsup2 !! Now I can't wait for our Whispering Canyon ADR:lovestruc !! I am with Gus - I love OJ, but if I drink it something bad happens:scared1:

Thanks for reading! :)
BTW, if you like milkshakes, make sure you get one at WCC, good stuff!!

:thumbsup2 Loving the TR. And can't wait for Whispering Canyon ADR!

So, it's official...I'm the slowest updater in Dis history!! In my defense, I was sick, Gus was sick, my 87 year old grandma (who lives with me) had pneumonia, it was Gus & I's 9th year together so we went to Vegas to celebrate and now I'm sick once again!! Nothing like an endless cycle of excuses!! :rolleyes1

Day 5, Bonus Feature...:woohoo:
I realized I completely forgot that on Saturday night (Day 5) we spent a few hours at Jellyrolls (a dueling piano bar) at the Boardwalk. We used to have something similar out here in So. Cal called Sing Sing but it's now closed. Anyway, since it was Saturday night we paid $10 bucks each to get in and the place was packed. We got lucky about 20 minutes later when a couple sitting right in front of where we were standing gave up their seats! We ordered a few drinks, ate some popcorn and sang along to all the usual stuff like Sweet Caroline & Margaritaville. After about 2 hours we headed back to our room. Not sure how I forgot those 2 whole hours but I have almost hit the ripe old age of 32!! lol.

So, it's finally time for Day 8....Segways!!
The plan was to have breakfast at Pepper Market but neither of us could get moving once the wake up Stitch called so we decided to skip breakfast and use that credit on our last day. After we were on the road we found we were hungry after all and there was really no time to stop so we drove thru the ginormous happy meal for a small McBreakfast.

It's about 10:15 when we pull into Fort Wilderness and since we have about an hour to kill we hop on the bus that takes you to the Pioneer Hall area. At this point Gus is already foaming at the mouth and twitching with anticipation to get his hands on a Segway...again! Nevermind, that we've already taken the Segway Around the World tour & Washington DC by night tour! lol. We spend some time walking around the Settlement area and down by the marina.

Gus decides we must walk by Mickey's Backyard BBQ to see if anyone else is there yet so we head over and of course no one is there waiting an hour early!! We've been here before for Hoop-De-Doo but it was always dark and crowded so I never noticed just how quiet and peaceful it is here!!

We keep walking past the BBQ area and come upon Tri-Circle D Ranch where we meet some new friends of the non-Dis variety!!
67247Tri-Circle-D-Farm.jpg

Meet Dan, my new favorite Equus Caballus!!
67247Chas-_-Dan-the-horse.jpg

Awww, friends forever!!
67247Gus-_-Dan-Again.jpg

John was a man's man.
67247Gus-_-John-the-horse.jpg

We loved having the horses all to ourselves!! However, there were signs posted not to touch them which was a bummer since Dan & John were very friendly and were just begging to be scratched!! We couldn't help but touch them! Since we were in there a good half hour a cast member eventually came and we asked them why you couldn't touch them and he explained that a bunch of the horses got sick a year or so back and it had something to do with all the germs people carry around on their hands. So, we said goodbye to our new friends and promised to stop by on our next visit!
After washing our hands, we strolled over to the petting farm that's not really a petting farm since you can't touch them either. Booo! But it was still fun seeing all the creepy little mini horses.

It was finally the moment Gus had been waiting the whole trip for....

67247Our-Segways-med.jpg

We are still a few minutes early so they offer us a bottle of water and we wait for the others in our group to show up. That's when we meet some fellow Diser's Dane & Roxane from Rhode Island! It didn't take long to figure out we had a ton in common and they made the experience that much better!!
Around 11:20 everyone had showed up and we began all the legal stuff like the safety video and death waiver. Ok, so there was no death waiver but I'm pretty sure somewhere in the paperwork they protect themselves against death by Segway.

** Segway Fun Fact - on our Segway Tour in Washington D.C. our guide was really laid back and pretty much let us do what we wanted. So, Gus talks him into letting us use the higher speed and he gives in!! I tried to warn him that Gus is a limit pusher but he had them fooled! Keep in mind there are 10 of us zipping around the busy streets of D.C and it was most people's first time on a Segway!! I had a bad feeling about this!! Well, not more than 15 minutes later an older gentleman tries to squeeze in between two poles in front of the Capitol Building but hits them head on and goes flying over his Segway at about 7 mph...landing face first on the sidewalk!! :scared1:
So, we all roll over to see if he's ok and he's not getting up. The guide comes over and after about 5 minutes he's able to get him standing but his face is bleeding and he's eye is brusing badly. There was some debate on whether to call an ambulance but the man insisted he was ok so we took a 15 minute break and then pushed on. Anyway, he really should have gotten some help since his eye was completely swollen shut by the end of the tour. And the crazier part is the person he was with was crossing the street at full speed a few minutes later and ran straight into the side of the building without even slowing down!! He bounced right off the Segway onto his butt but ended up being fine. Anyway, point being...there's a reason they cap the speeds on those things!!! :sad2:

Next, we do the training course which is pretty boring if you've been through this a couple times before! I think they need to come out with intermediate sessions for those who have done the training a few times already. It kind of sucks to have to spend 30 minutes training when you could be riding around already. And that's when I saw the seed starting to grow. Gus was already trying to show Dane how to ride his Segway over rocks and hills. I stuck back with Roxane who had just ran into the instructor. :rotfl:
After that he would jump out in front of her on purpose just to make sure she could stop in time. I'd say he got lucky about half the time!! Poor Roxane!!
But by the end of training everyone seemed comfortable enough to explore so off we went!!

I'm taking the pic & Gus is about 3 people ahead of me.
67247On-the-Tour.jpg

Basically we toured the various grounds around Fort Wildness, which are huge!! Along the way they would throw out random fun facts but you had to be closer to the front to hear them. You weren't supposed to take pictures while driving but this was the first time someone had told us we couldn't and being the rule breaker that I am...I snuck in a few. I understand why they frown upon this but we were encouraged on our first two Segway tours to use our camera's as much as we wanted so I'm kind of a pro at it now.
They do stop towards the middle of the tour for pictures...

A Happy Gus!!

New Friends!! Hi Roxane & Dane!!
67247Our-New-Friends.jpg

Overall, we like the normal Segways better than the off-road model since they handle better. Gus like to do donuts and I like to cut corners quickly so the smaller tires and wheel base on the normal segways work better for this.
Kids, don't try this at home!! hehe The tour was still mucho fun and I'd recommend to anyone who is into this sort of adventure!!

After the tour Roxane and Dane told us about Welcome Home Wednesdays held at the Boardwalk resort and we agreed to meet them there since we are DVC members and had never been. Once Dane told Gus about the free cheese popcorn it was a done deal!!

We then headed over to Epcot to just hang out for a while before our dinner ADR at my favorite...Le Celliar!!

We took a ride on Test Track, Mission Space & Universe of Energy! And then headed over to dinner!!

We checked in right on time at 6:30pm. We were seated right away and had a friendly enough waitress. Gus and I both ordered the 7-oz Filet Mignon Glazed with Maple Barbeque Sauce and accompanied by Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes - which I just read was taken off the menu last month!!!!! That just completely breaks my heart since this was truly my favorite meal ever!!! It's also extremely popular!! :confused3
For dessert I had the chocolate mouse head which I always love! Gus had a tangerine sorbet that he wasn't to fond of. Anyway, now that they took away the thing I loved the most I doubt we will go back here since everything is starting to be the same as everywhere else. So sad!! :sad2:

After dinner we caught Illuminations...reflections of earth...once again and ended the night hanging out at Adventure's Club!! Kungaloosh!!

Coming up eventually... Our blustery day at Typhoon Lagoon!! :sunny:

Cant wait to hear about TL!!! I want to do the segway tour over at Epcot, but this one sounds cool too!

fun TR im just joining now, but it was nice to have all of those very detailed updates to keep me busy all night

Your Segway tour sounds fun! :moped: I can't wait to hear about TL - I have been bugging and bugging DH to go to one of the water parks, but he doesn't like to swim and so isn't really into water parks. :confused3
I CANNOT believe that they took that filet with the cream cheese mashed potatoes off the LeCellier menu:faint: - I just found that out this weekend! We are actually starting to plan our next trip and LeCellier was everyone's favorite (2 of us had that dish and LOVED it). We had LeCellier penciled in for one of the nights but are now considering not going there after we scanned the new menu:worried: The chocolate mousse isn't on the menu anymore either!

Thanks!! Hopefully, I'll be able to update next weekend!

Yeah, I don't know what I'm going to do without my BBQ Filet with Cream Cheese Mash Potatoes & Chocolate Mousse Head...I might have to quit going to WDW in protest!! :rotfl2: Yeah right! But I really can't understand why they'd take away something so popular!!

R.I.P Chocolate Mousse Head :worried:

Just subscribing. Thanks for a great report

Hi and thanks for joining us!! :goodvibes

This will be pretty wordy since there is no way either of us were going to allow pictures of us in our bathing suits to get out into the world. lol.

Anyway, we had a quick breakfast in the room and arrived at the park about 10am. We wanted to get there early so we could try and meet Dane & Roxane over at Atlantic Dance Hall for DVC Welcome Home Wednesday's.

Keep in mind this was not a very warm day! The temp was about 65 and overcast when we got there and probably only reached the low 70's throughout the day. I know this probably isn't cold for some people but it was also windy so it wasn't the best day to be in the water for me. Anyway, it wasn't a great day for a lot of people because TL was empty!!! But it had just opened so we figured that would change!

We then went to find some chairs to relax on later by the wave pool. :beach:

The first thing we did was go on Crush N Gusher!! Holy Crap!! That was one of the scariest things I have ever been on!! :scared1: First off, we decided NOT to go on the same raft because every time we do Gus flips us over and we end up free styling our way through the rest of the slide and I'm not very fond of that!! I like the safety and security of my fluffy round intertube thank you very much!! ::yes::

So, I'm a little nervous because I've never been on this before and didn't know what to expect so Gus goes first and I see him vanish instantly and wonder where the chicken exit is!! Now, I never have issues going on anything but this doesn't have anyway to keep you in and some of those drops look rough!! Anyway, I get myself together and get on my tube and hold on so hard my fingers turn white. By this time the cast member is looking at me like I'm pathetic. lol. Anyway, a little push and off I go..... Oh, I forgot to mention we hadn't even gotten wet yet because we were hoping it would warm up a little first so as I was zipping through the water I was screaming in shock as gallons of freezing water pelted my body!! Not to mention, I was dropping and zooming all over the place. And just let me say, I'm not a screamer!! I might giggle and laugh but I don't do the whole screaming thing. Anyway, I almost lost my voice on this one!!
After getting over the shock of the cold water and anticipation, it was all kinds of fun and since there was no one there we went on about 5 more times in a row!! Oh yeah, just an FYI, I took my sunglasses off and held them in my hands so I didn't loose them but as soon as I hit the water, the force ripped them right out of my hands!! Since they weren't cheap glasses I asked if they could get them for me and someone came and got them from the back of the pool area. Hold on super tight!!!

After this, we went to my utmost favorite attraction here....yep, the mini-donuts!!!! :rotfl: I sooooo love these!! We usually get a dozen with the raspberry sauce and sometimes that isn't enough!! I highly recommend these!!!

My second favorite thing here is the glorious lazy river!! I can't convey to you guys enough what it's like to lounge around on your little tube and just float heavenly along for hours!! Yeah, I know people are scared of what's in the water...snakes, creepy crawlies and probably things we just don't want to think about but Disney puts enough chemicals in the water to make you blind so we don't really care all that much! There are much worse things in life to worry about then what may be in the lazy river!

We spent the rest of the day in the wave pool and going on different slides.
So...you can't tell anyone you saw this....
67247Us-at-Typhoon-Lagoon.jpg

I'm not brave enough to do the super big fast slides that give you an atomic wedgie (ouch!!) but Gus went on a few and I did do one of the smaller high speed slides....Humunga Kowabunga!! This was more than enough excitement for me!! And yes, my board shorts turned into a thong on the way down! Meep.

We've done the Shark Reef in the past and really liked it but it was just toooooo cold for that this time so we skipped it.

Eating here is a usually a bad way to spend a meal plan credit so we headed out of the park about 1:30pm and headed back to the room. We took showers and headed back over to Boardwalk around 2:30. To be honest, I really can't remember where we ended up eating and for some reason I didn't write it down so it was probably at Pepper Market but I can't be sure.

Around 2:50 Dane & Roaxne showed up and at 3 we all went into Atlantic Dance Hall for the DVC event. Gus and I had never done this so we wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Not to mention Gus wanted some free cheesey popcorn. So, Dane saves us a seat on the dance floor and we all take turns getting drinks and popcorn. Umm, I think the boys went up like 3 times!! The stage was set up like Jeopardy and they pick 3 people from the crowd to come up and answer Disney questions for DVC prizes. Roxane & Dane really tried to get me picked but I'm on the shy side so I was a little relieved when I wasn't. Phew! For the next hour they basically just had the game show and gave us the latest DVC news. Overall, it was corny but fun. It was nice to get together with other people and play! lol.

After that we walked around the Boardwalk for a little while and then headed back to AKL to just hang out at the resort and do some shopping! Good times!

Next up: Day 10: dinner at Epcot, an unexpected death and a little Off Kilter!!

So, I know it's been forever (I caught the Gma's pneumonia and was really sick for a few weeks) since I've updated and I still have the last 2 days to post but I just want to make sure at least someone is still on board before I spend hours posting...

Anyone still out there....

There is still someone here! I love your trip reports and I have been waiting forever to hear about the end of your trip. Please post some more!
