Our 'Ohana is Making a Splash on Safari: Reporting LIVE from...AKL (8/6)

MK seemed much more crowded today than it was on saturday. I'm not sure if it really was or just felt like it because we used a different strategy. We still managed to ride Dumbo, PP, Space, BLY, TTA, Splash x2, barnstormer, potc x2, HM x2, train, and have a lovely lunch on the castle. The characters were just wonderful and with the help of disney's Bells, we presented our bells with this gift:

It is beautiful and she was very surprised and love it. Aurora was adorable with hercules!
We meandered back to the Poly for some last bit of Polynesian atmosphere and a rest before heading out to the late show of HDDR. We've never done the late show before but it saved us $46 with the TIW. Waitin now to get into Pioneer Hall.
TTFN!

Surprise??? Can't wait to hear!
It was the tiara with the real Bells. Hope it wasn't too anticlimactic!
You are very sweet to post all this for us. Thanks for making memories for us to read!
Thank you! It's my pleasure to share. I've learned so much from others I hope I can be of some help!
Did the Brazil Groups leave yet:mad:. Last year 5 teens cut in line of me.
They seem to be gone. We saw only one group yesterday at dhs and today none. There certainly are no more br'zillion brazilians!
Subbing!!! This live report has been great...We leave in 30 days and staying at CR fro 8 nights I plan on doing a live report also...Thanks

Thank you and you are welcome. I'm looking forward to reading yours.

Just wanted to say, "Still reading!" ... and that's a gorgeous tiara. I'm sure she was stoked!

Thanks for putting in all the effort with these updates. It's keeping some of us fiends placated. :thumbsup2

What a great surprise. Did you bring it from home or buy it in the World? My DD has plans to get one on Main Street on the morning of her 16th - which is also the day we check into the Poly!

We're loving your trip report. :goodvibes

I'm enjoying all your updates. Time seems to fly when u are on vacation so enjoy your last day at Poly and the ones still to come at AK. I'm glad you were able to see Fantasmic, it gets really crazy aorund there specially during the first show.

What a beautiful tiara! I think it may be prettier than the one I wore at my wedding! LOL

Thanks for the compliment on the tiara and I'm so glad you are still reading. When I know people are enjoying it, it encourages me to keep going!

We brought it from home. We found it in the garment district in NYC. Aladdim took very good care packing it so it wouldn't break and keeping it a surprise. We did see a bunch around here too, and waiting until we got here never even occurred to me. I didn't check the prices on mainstreet but if you are interested I will. There is also a nice selection in a kiosk outside the Germany pavilion.

We enjoyed every minute at the Poly. As I am typon right now, we have just checked out and are on our way to DTD to shop for a few hours and have lunch before heading to AKL. Thanks for reading!

Thank you! We looked for that thing for months. E-bay and prom gear web sites and finally found it in a shop in a neighborhood in Manhattan that we now call "tiara city." We got it for a great price, too, we thought. I didn't wear one for my wedding, but I want one now!

The HDDR was amazing last night! Belle got to ring the dinner bell and open Pioneer Hall. Our table was in the second row, and the players all did a great job. The food was wonderful. No dry chicken there. We left laughin and full. Aladdin and I got to dance to let me call you sweetheart for our anniversary. Buses were ready to bring guests back to their resorts rift away and we we're back home by about 11:30. My teens still LOVE that show. I feel like a walking advertisement but if you have never done this show DOO it!!

I'd love to know prices from the jewelry store on Main Street (Uptown Jewelers??) if you get back there. She was scouting tiaras on our February trip but I'm sure she never bothered to look at prices! :rotfl:

We plan to go back to MK on monday morning departure day. If I have time, I will check!

That tiara is gorgeous! Did you get it at WDW or before you left? And who's calling my husband to tell him how to surprise ME??? :lmao:

This one is from home (see details above) but there are beautiful ones all over the place here for reasonable prices. We saw some nice ones today at arribas bros in dtd that ran between $15 and $50, with my favorites in the $30 range. I haven't looked at the prices in Epcot or MK yet but will check on those too.

Had a nice stroll around dtd today and some lunch at EOS and dessert at Ghirardelli's AKL then made our way over to AKL. We stopped at registration where Melissa greeted us and escorted us up to the sixth floor CL lounge. First of all everything is breathtakingly gorgeous here. Second every cm we have met has been just wonderful. We are in a room on zebra trail overlooking arusha savanna on the third pod out. We are very close to the elevator tl the pool. So convenient! Little bit of a hike to the loimg but we don't mind. We have already seen giraffe, zebras, thomson gazelles, ankole cattle (one has an ear infection) and more. The lounge is awesome. Dinner tonight was at sanaa and it is beautiful and the food is great. The Kidani lobby is gorgeous and we went out by their fireplace and saw more giraffes. After dinner we enjoyed the pool and hot tub! Loving akl so far! Missing the room size at the Poly.

AKL sounds beautiful! Its the next place I want to stay! Next month we have plans to eat at Mara for lunch, shopping and drinks at Victoria Falls, I am seriously thinking of adding Jiko ressies too..

AKL is an excellent resort - the theming is so awesome and the animals are so calming to watch!
Have fun!

I am so glad Aladsin humored me and suggested the elongated split stay this trip. This place is a resort, spa and museum all rolled int'l one and the animals are a great bonus.

AKL honestly sounds like magic!:thumbsup2 Hope you have a wonderful Anniversary!;)
Yes, thank you. This whole vacation has been feeling magical.

It is very relaxing! I'm watching a giraffe sat lunch and some zebras take a drink!

Nice breakfast in the CL lounge this morning. A few cold cereals, oatmeal and quinoi, muffins, danish, bagels, fruit and tropical juices. Then we took the five minute bus ride to AK. We were most interested in the vet procedures at rafikis planet watch so after everest and dinosaur we went straight there. We found out we were gonna miss a 9:45 thing so we decided to do Pangani before heading over for a 10:45 redneck of a pelican. Pangani is nice but the gorillas were all just lying around so we didn't get to see the baby.

AKL is somewhere we've dicussed possibly staying one day, if we ever decide to diverge from the Poly. I'm just not sure we could! (props to you for having the strength to leave!) From what you say it sounds awesome!:woohoo:
