Take a a taxi!! The only time our son had a "melt down" (and DH and I weren't far behind!) the entire trip was waiting in the sometimes overwhelming lines for a bus back to the resort at the end of the day/night. So twice we took a taxi back to our resort and it was amazing how it kept the Disney magic alive! (Ok, sounds corny, but true!) We did this twice-once from MK late at night and once after an afternoon of shopping at DTD. The fare to ASMovie (basically at the other end of WDW from MK) was only about $11, plus gratuity. This tip may sound trivial to some, but believe me-it kept the magic alive for us! :cheer2:

Thanks for the tip. We were debating our mode of transportation during our stay in Oct ....take buses, drive our car to the parks...etc. Sounds like it's worth trying!

How did you get a taxi at MK? I only see the buses.

Great idea for families with small kids or elderly folks. Sometimes the bus wait is longer than expected and it could cause a major meltdown in the toddler set. :)

Since we're just a couple of middle aged people, we must endure the pain of waiting for the bus, and my teenager and her friend can suffer too. ;)

We drive our own car from Texas and it's the best thing after a day in the park!:crowded:

Either take the monorail or the ferry over to the TTC (2 minutes away) and then walk through the main gates (NOT to where the buses are) you will see the taxis lined up. :cool1:

Oh yeah, I also meant to ask.......do you just call a cab company or what?
Just ask at any of the "bus info" boothes at any park and they will direct you to the taxi stations. HINT: Ask where they are before going into the parks for the day-just in case you want to hop in a comfy taxi at the end of the day!! :goodvibes

I didn't think they'd let a toddler ride a taxi without a carseat? Surely you don't carry a carseat around in the parks?

Who said anything about a toddler?! :confused3 It's not only toddlers who can have melt downs! :rotfl: :rotfl: A taxi at the end of the day is great for anyone!

We've used the taxis also and it IS a good tip. Thanks for the reminder.

This is exactly why we will be renting a car. Our 4th trip, 2nd with DS4 and have always driven ourselves to the parks. Don't have to wait for the bus, stand on the bus or be squished on the bus...

If you drive to WDW, take your car, especially of on property, it's free....
If it fits your budget, rent one...

Only 14 more working days til Disney!!!

I agree - we rent a car every trip. There was one night we took the boat from MK back to WL and we waited in line for that STUPID boat for almost 45 minutes. I was the one that was about to have a meltdown  It was terrible and really ruined my Disney spirit for the day.

For many years, when I read or heard "Disney boat" I thought to myself, "Long wait".

I never use taxis unless I absolutely positively have to.
