I couldn't figure out where else to post this- but I figure it's a "trip report after the actual trip reports I already posted" kind of thing.
I had finally emailed Disney about a month ago about some things that happened on our first trip (incident with first visit with Mickey in all my 33yrs/etc) as well as some things that happened on my solo trip (incident with misleading advertising on mugs at PI/AC and how one mgr treated me poorly, one treated me nicely but couldn't do anything, how resort stay wasn't up to par and hadn't even realized it until I was leaving/etc).
I wrote letting them know I just wanted to let them know of some things they could improve and also gave praise where it was due for some things. I really didn't expect them to even respond- just figured they'd atleast read it- yanno?
Well a few weeks later I received an email asking me for my phone number as someone would be contacting me in the next few weeks. Sure enough a few weeks later (which was just the other day) they contacted me. I have to say the person doing the calling (not sure if I can say names here?) is REALLY good at his job. LOL After listening to a rather lengthy praising spiel about how grateful they were for my email/etc. he got down to business saying that they totally understood how I felt even if DH thought it was silly (LOL) and wanted to make it up to me. And this is how they are going to do that (even though I assured him that they didn't have to do anything for me- I already have reservations for another trip and planning a trip in 2004 camping at FW- so it's not like I'm not coming back! LOL):
He gave me a phone number to call 2wks before our trip so they can make plans/arrangements for us to have a special private meeting with Mickey while at MK and we'll have some time to spend with him, have pictures taken, etc (what etc means I'm not sure- I didn't ask. LOL) Even if there is no "etc"- that's exciting enough for me! That is going to be a really magical time for me and I'm sure it will be plenty enough to make me forget all about that first meeting with Mickey ever.
Also he gave me HIS number to call him 2wks before because he said he noticed I had changed my reservation from preferred to standard with a note about the football building. He asked why I'd done that and I'd explained that we were "celebrating" my son's birthday around that time and had planned going to ASSp for him and the only sports building there that he's interested in is the football building. I was told when changing our dates to make our vacation longer that if we were "preferred" there is NO WAY they'd give us the non-preferred football building- so we had a better chance just reserving without preferred building. So he said to call him back 2wks before we go and he'll do everything in his power to make sure we get the room we would like in the football building- if possible.
How cool is that?
Disney was never really "tainted" in my eyes- wasn't nearly as "magical" as I would have liked but I was perfectly willing to give WDW many more chances to make that happen for me. LOL However, the way he made me feel appreciated by calling and what he said when he called and doing something so special for us really makes up for ANY minor unhappiness we/I had on our last trips. Can't wait for our special time with Mickey now!
