Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

What's the special??

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

That's the special wine drink that they put out in a pitcher 5-7pm. It has 11 different things in it. Some are sprite, white Zinfandel and Grand Mariner. Sweet but delish! The recipe is on poly thread. :thumbsup2

The Ku’ulei Special is the full name.

Flights opened up on the 4th!!

Do I price out CR, GF, or Poly for 2-3 nights?? Hmmm...

Heather enjoy your last day! What a beautiful view to wake up to every morning!! The last vacay day is always sad :sad2: my spring break is just a distant memory :upsidedow in March!! But I bet you're almost done with school now!! Yay :goodvibes. My last day 6/18! When I look at the calendar, with long 4 day weekend, there really isn't that many weeks left for me. :cheer2: lol

Yep! 4 more weeks of school and that's it!!!! Then WDW!!!

Just waiting to hear back from TA to see if there are any CL rooms left. Send some pixie dust!!

:confused3 Did you get it????

DH laughed at me this morning. He said that if we were leaving for Disney tomorrow, our stuff would have been packed two months ago, and he would have been relegated to rotating between two pairs of underwear for the duration. Yet, I leave for MD in less than two hours and just asked him to bring up the suitcase.....

Priorities people!!! :rotfl:

I sure hope you got those suitcases packed!!! Safe travels!

Well I tend to talk about dd here often. That's because this is what her and I have in common.... Our love of of all things Disney:goodvibes. She just did a paper in English on Disney again. Her favorite topic;)

Well....do you blame her

Anyways here are some pics that a professional took from an invitational last night. John is in the Tiger/black uniform and that is the Steeple Chase at the Ithaca NY relays.

Yep, I really do have a ds16!

Now If I can CHANGE his mind and go back to disney... Perhaps a marathon???

Love looking at pictures!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Go ahead and sign him up for the half...then full  It'll give you another reason to go to Disney!

Another beautiful beach picture! You probably said but I've either missed it or forgotten .... what beach is this?

New Smyrna Beach....it's between Daytona and Port Canaveral...about an hour from Orlando. While there are definitely better beaches in Florida, we go to this one because it's fairly close and the fishing is good for the husband:thumbsup2 The boat ramp is literally 2 miles from the condo...super convenient.

Heather, I love the way your pictures are framed:cloud9:

Photobucket ;) It works wonders

I SO miss the beach...definitely need a break from WDW after this trip I think...the kids need to see the mountains and the ocean!

We were just discussing a ski trip for the kids so they can experience the snow. Ya know we don't have that stuff down here

Flights opened up on the 4th!!

Do I price out CR, GF, or Poly for 2-3 nights?? Hmmm...

Tough decision....all 3 are fabulous in their own way. You can't go wrong with any of them.

If I could possibly talk DH into a split stay, would you do 2/5 or 3/4? And which hotel for best fireworks viewing? poly (with construction), GF, or CR?

Cr is nice in that you can walk home. We may watch a parade then walk back for fireworks, etc. The view is great from MKV rooms but they also have a viewing area on 4th floor outside.

Poly is special from beach. Love that too.

Gf is good but not as good as the other two. I have watched from the dock and like that spot but there may be others.

As for split, with my kids I wouldn't do when young. I hate transfer day.

Staying WL the whole time is a good option. Watch fireworks from there or time it it leave MK and be on boat back at the time of the works. It is fun to be out there on the water for fireworks or ewp.

You could watch from cr then take boat to WL from there after.

Good luck deciding. It is hard to choose.

Ps Where is everybody today???

I was wondering that myself...(where everybody was today)

I'm not braving the crowds for the 4th at MK I don't think...hence the reason for staying (or eating I guess) at one of the other resorts. I don't think you can see (and hear the music) at WL like elsewhere.

And the kids are 7 (almost 8 ) and 3...I'm not crazy about a split either... :-/ Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Just had someone say they pipe in the music for the fireworks over at the FW beach! May not have to do a split at all! Now I just need to price out a room only night through Orbitz plus dinner vs adding another night on our already booked package... :-)

I'm here!! :yay:

Getting pumped up for our trip! I've already started our "Disney Bin" and putting things in there that we'll need. This is the only vacation where I am totally, utterly, SO EXCITED to pack! DH was like, why can't you do this a night or two before?!? He doesn't get the excitement like I do. DD and I have been listening to the Disney Pandora station together. We love it! :thumbsup2

Oh and I went ahead and called Kids Nite Out. I cannot technically reserve for the sitter yet (3 months out, so June) they reassured me of my worries. We will be getting a younger gal who is in school (that makes me feel better!).. DH and I can enjoy our evening together (drinking around W.S and dinner at Cali Grill! :woohoo: )

Been a good day! :)

I love the "pre-packing" too:goodvibes

Getting close so I am making my piles too.

With dd away at college I have so much more free time. I am on the boards almost daily, mainly checking for mine train. I so want FP+ !!!

For myself I usually pack 30 days out unless in our summer months it gets tricky.

:wave2: have a great end to your weekend.

No they don't pipe in music at WL. I don't think I've ever been able to see fireworks from WL. Some say if you have a high floor woods view in north wing you can see the high fireworks :confused3

news yes, Heather I was able to add on an extra night CL, but had to loose lagoon view :sad1: only had GV for second night so switched both days to GV. TA will see if anyone cancels she can switch me back to lagoon.

Oh well, it was more important to have 2 nights same room, to avoid being homeless the second day when youngest daughter has 2pm DME going back home. We planned on a resort day/pool etc. Not doing any wdw parks while she's there. First day & a half. Ticket prices are stupid for a 1 or 2 day ticket so first day is Typhoon Lagoon, then a resort day for her leaving day. We will prob need a break anyway after 3 days Universal!

Sounds fun!! :-)

Would love to add on the extra night to our July trip (and basically build in an extra resort day), but not sure it's really worth the extra $$ unless we can take the 11:30am flight and save the airport hotel cost the night before...maybe grab something to eat at MCO when we land then CL snacks and apps and just grab some fried chicken over at FW before the fireworks... (Thinking aloud). :-)

Well it's not exactly an extra as in more total days. Maybe I phrased it wrong. Still same 14 days booked, but now 2 out of the 14 are CL. Then 12 standard GV room.

Mmmm fried chicken yum!! I'd just pack some food for the plane & skip the MCO food and wait to grab something at a Roaring forks for a late lunch to tide you over for CL Appies!

My house!!!! Not that I don't love company but it's back to my house!!! At one point this weekend we had my folks and DH's folks and I was just getting a little overwhelmed... all good now!

Thanks for all the kudos for the pics! Not sure who enjoyed the egg roll more - me or DD6! Glad to have done it... def required some major strategics in executing. Also glad DD got to see her cherry blossoms... the girl can't get enough!

Trying to catch up but know I'm missing tons!!!
MM - hope you have a blast in the area! Can't wait to see your pics (I love MD and love seeing the touristy stuff!!!)
Kohl - I would always opt for a split that is more even (3/4 or 4/3) just because one or two nights makes things feel rushed to me. Also, I think fireworks from any view point will be great and save the $$$ on a view to see them... $$$ that can go for so many other wonderful things! Also, we did a split with 6 adults and 5yo DD and found it a lot easier than expected. Loved the chance to do it and it helped break up the week... that said, we did change over on a pool day so we packed, grabbed lunch at DtD and got to second resort for afternoon swimming which made the transition easier.
Heather - loooovin' the pics!!! Makes me wonder if we can get back to Jax or Pensacola in our future tours.

Sue, Janet, trish, piglet, pas, GG, and all the other RCers, and hope you had great weekends!!!!!

Not much to report now - hit up the local Celtic Festival yesterday and tasted some haggis (eh) and lamb burger (yum!). Woke up with a case of the 'icks' this morning and hoping to shake it off so I can catch up on everything I couldn't do with company.

Lots of changes to December trip coming up this next week... need to cancel with TA (I feel too guilty having her make ADRs if there's a strong likelihood we can't do property resort (chance of it is about 10%), and I'd rather just rebook with her if things change. Sort of loathing the idea of having to wake up early each morning to make ADRs but at least the general consensus was one sit down a day and only 3 days have our total group of 11.

Just poppin in after a late night at work...Dmndgal I loved your pics too!! Sue yay for more nights CL at Poly!! Heather thanks for your vacations pics...really lovely!

No changes here, DH and I still holding strong at WL for August. We sooooooooo need this trip, much needed for us. Love our precious girls but need to have some bonding time. :lovestruc

Helping a friend with a trip in September and waiting to see if FD is coming out this week for her dates! I will be a hero if she can snag that one!

See u all later!:smokin:

Hmm...$300 to add another night at WL CL and see the 4th of July fireworks (from FW beach)...Worth it? And go! :-)

Agreed:teacher:

Kook knows all :goodvibes

He is a HS junior and runs cross country in the fall, was on our first winter indoor track team this year and runs 800, 1600 and 3200's and relays on spring track. They only have the steeple chases at some meets and usually only 1 athlete from the team gets to do it. This time it was a relay and 4 guys from our team had to pass the baton and john was picked as 1 of the 4. I am hoping he can do again. I actually caught him smiling during the event:woohoo:

FYI 3200 is 8 times around the track and cross county is a 5k/3.1 miles.
Thanks for the pics!!! Awesome. I used to run hurdles, now I can't even clear a hot wheels car :rotfl2:

Yep! 4 more weeks of school and that's it!!!! Then WDW!!!
:cool1: See you back here next month my friend

Wishes from FW was neat. They do pipe in the music and the kids are all running around. Fun fun fun!!
