Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

I will. I'm even think about getting one of the guns and painting it sparkly pink.

Actually, I think I'll go without a blaster. Now that I think about it, it's not a good idea. I'm thinking of carrying a Darth Vader trick-or-treat bucket instead.

Janet - we're using award travel miles and they have the same flights available on the 4th and the 9th. :-). easy WDW lists the same crowds all days except the 4th, but since we wouldn't be AT any park except AK, it might be ok?

That's great about the award points and not having any blackouts. :thumbsup2

Depends on how much you want to see the fireworks. Do the kids enjoy them?

Janet just finished ADRs ugh. Stupid MDE not working, after 2 days trying had to phone dining line! And they couldn't get the ADRs on MDE so had to phone tec support :faint: took hours to accomplish a simple thing. You'd think they'd have the glitches ironed out by now!!!
And also my friend who I meet up with in wdw who is on my family/friends for planning sometimes shows up, sometimes her icon is blank! Grrr. That web site is so fustrating!

Not sure about Ohanas! But Capt Cooks, or ? What day do you have Ohanas on?
I plan on lots of CS meals, they have been getting pretty good.

I've done some preliminary ADRs: not doing TS every day. We arrive 8/20 & I don't have any ADRs booked till 8/24 when friend arrives  so I'm pretty open on 8/21 & 8/22.
We have-
8/24 SciFi lunch
8/25 Beaches & Cream lunch @ 12:30. Are you at YC? This may be a possibility?
8/27 Liberty Tree dinner
8/28 BB day, dinner at AMC DTD
8/30 BOG dinner
8/31 Brown Derby lunch

Thanks Sue!! Perhaps Friday must be best and we go from there. :) Yes we are at YC and not sure what park we will go to on Monday. Saldly we have to leave Wed AM. :(

No worries. I'm just sad about us having to keep Justin Bieber now. :lmao:

I've just been obsessed with figuring out a costume for MNSSHP. I know it'll be hot, but once I paint the Stormtrooper armor pink, I'm going to attach it to either black, or heather grey, thermal PJs. I know it'll be on the warm side, but it's close to fitting like the material I am cutting the armor off of. I just don't know if I should get black, which is what the the current costume has, or use the heather grey. I don't know if the grey will make it any cooler. Also, the helmet is a full helmet. The DH thinks I should attach a tiara to it after I paint it pink, but do y'all think it will be too hot in September to wear a full helmet?

Awesome idea Wookie!! Reading those "thermal PJs" in September makes me think you will be hot.

And yes, I think a helmet will be short lived on you. :) Go for the Tiara!! :thumbsup2

Actually, I think I'll go without a blaster. Now that I think about it, it's not a good idea. I'm thinking of carrying a Darth Vader trick-or-treat bucket instead.

And the less you have to carry, the better.

I was just thinking, they might not let you in with the blaster. Security and all. :thumbsup2

Yep, Candace, in Disney's infinite wisdom, it might be considered a "weapon" :rolleyes1

Well the princess Stormtrooper idea is dead. It was just going to cost more than I wanted to spend. The Stormtrooper costume was going to be $69 + tax and shipping, the thermal PJs $20 + tax and shipping, Darth Vader trick-or-treat bucket about $5 + tax and shipping. Then you have to add in painting supplies, tutu supplies, and the cost of a 2nd check piece of luggage for the flight to and from ATL.

Now I am going to do Belle. I found a tank top t-shirt dress for $30. Then I just need yellow ribbon the put around the bun in my hair, and tutu materials. The dress is long, like down to my ankles. I'm trying to decide if I should leave it like that, make it knee length (but straight) or make it knee length by gathering it up and sewing it to make it look more like the yellow ball gown Belle wears. Hopefully, the "straps" of the tank top, will stay put just off my shoulders, so it will look like Belle's dress.

Ok -- so we switched to AKL CL in order to have a new experience. That was right up there yesterday in our options but we shelved it due to not being able to have balloons (DD7 objected to that notion), but in exchange for the promise of an awesome stuffed animal....AKL CL it is....:lmao:

Well, I was RIF'd today, so more eventful than I would have liked...Hopefully they will find a place for me, but nothing is guaranteed right now...and no clue as to where I'll end up if I do get to stay in the district...

It is a wine and Disney planning evening tonight... :-)

What does that acronym stand for? They cut your actual position, but not you, right???

I am so sorry you got bad news, that must be so frustrating. I hope things work out soon and they find a really nice position for you.

I don't even know what it stands for. Lol. But it means I am displaced. Basically, if there is an English opening in the district after everything plays out and people leave or whatnot, then I will most likely get it (I would before they'd open it to someone else) but there is no guarantee and there's certainly no guarantee I'd stay at the school I'm at right now. I wouldn't mind staying where I am or one of the other high schools, but if I ended up at the 3rd high school or a middle school...? I would definitely NOT be happy.. :-/

Injection was crazy - felt like a celebrity with all the curious medical peeps. Won't lie, hurt A LOT more than I expected... but the docs are super optimistic and I am focusing on being able to ride coasters with DD this summer (she finally cleared 48" so the steel, looping world is her oyster)

Now, to catch up before explaining the drama!!!popcorn::

Mousemommy1 - I'm gone one weekend and you ch-ch-change all over the world!??? :goodvibes You do what I'm too scared to act on!

Ok I switched to the YC GV from BWI Stnd for 10/18-10/26 today :cool1:
Fun! We would've picked BW last trip but DD has a weird clown thing so that got shot down. Love all the Epcot resorts, but BW is just right THERE! :thumbsup2

JessicaRabbit - DH has a running tally from our last trip (4 changes) and this trip (I think 7)... and the Trip-Which-Shall-Not-Be-Named (TWSNBN) (8 already!)

Much thanks, Janet! Raglan was the FIRST place FIL said we had to do - he loved it last time - and I'm def thinking Sanaa will have to move up there, too. I hadn't thought about the seating issue at GG but you're right - we were crowded with 7 last time. Hmmmm.....

:thumbsup2 for YC!!!

I haven't been to DL in years, but still remember Blue Bayou!! So cool, I wish wdw had it too. Don't understand why they didn't do it :confused3. Not for lack of space, that's for sure!

LOVED Blue Bayou! Loved Club 33 more, but BB was totally awesome! Still crave the Monte Cristo

Thanks for the recs! Might have to look into Ale House... to drown by Beiber sorrows!

Don't get stressed...of course easier said than done, right? Hope you can get things worked out:)
Thanks! I know you're right... just hate foolishness!!!!!

Koh1977 - hope the trip works out for you and I am so sorry for the foolishness in your work. Will keep my fingers crossed!!!

dimndgal1, sorry to hear about all the drama. Perhaps take a step back and let DH to handle it. For now, focus on September. :flower3:
Definitely focusing on Sept!!! Mahalo!!!

8/24 SciFi lunch
8/25 Beaches & Cream lunch @ 12:30. Are you at YC? This may be a possibility?
8/27 Liberty Tree dinner
8/28 BB day, dinner at AMC DTD
8/30 BOG dinner
8/31 Brown Derby lunch

:thumbsup2

wookie - I totally understand your costume drama! Finally started getting our groups' together this weekend! Important stuff!!!

To everyone else and anyone I missed :grouphug::flower3::grouphug:

So sorry about your shot hurting so much .... just keep thinking of all the fun you'll have with DD on the coasters! :thumbsup2

Koh  I know how you feel. Our school district is facing a huge budget deficit, we had huge layoffs/staff cuts last June, and it's not over. The word us this June will see more cuts. Ugh. I'm not sure if I'll have a job next Sept. Stupid board/trustees. Totally mismanaged the budget, spent money they thought they had, but didn't :scared1: and who pays??? Everyone but them

dimndgal . Haha, yes you must drown your Bieber sorrows!! Word is they don't want him in Georgia! :rotfl: Heather did you start that petition???

I will. I'm even think about getting one of the guns and painting it sparkly pink.
:rotfl2:

Sounds like another good option!! Are you making a tulle full skirt to go over it?

Love AKL CL! Must do the sunrise safari!! It's amazing.

So, the D R A M A!!!

BACKGROUND: A year ago my 18 year old nephew passed away unexpectedly. The last time we all saw him was at Christmas and he passed weeks later. Because of that, DH's sister (nephew's mom) is pushing for a non-traditional Christmas .

Soon after the idea of a Mouse filled holiday was mentioned the idea of visiting other family in Florida came up. DH made the comment later, one-on-one with his mom "I'm sure our crew (meaning the 4 people he can safely speak for) could probably swing that." Somehow, MIL took that to mean that our group of 11 would trek from Orlando to Tampa to Ft Myers and went ahead and told the family in those locations we would be there -- all before we had 1) reservations, 2) a budget, 3) leave schedules, and 4) *most importantly* talking to her two other children.

DH talked to his mom and said that while some of us might be able to go on to other places, if the Florida people wanted to see ALL of us, they needed to come to Orlando. He also suggested inviting them to a big Christmas meal somewhere and tossed out several other ideas. Fast forward to Friday night and DH's sister texted saying MIL had just talked to family in Tampa and made it sound like we were all going out there.

The problem has now become BIL and SIL's husband have very limited leave and will probably have to cut out of Florida Christmas night or early the next AM (hence why we were waiting for schedules before even TRYING to come up with plans). Both DH's siblings (and us) agree that they want to have a relaxing Christmas with family and not caravan around the state... not to mention the logistics of toting 8 adults, a 7yo, & two 18 month olds to three different locations in 7 days.

DH talked to his mom and now his she seems hurt and distant and keeps saying "but they are so close, it wouldn't be that hard." Siblings have all pointed out it's easier for 2 people to come to Orlando than for 11 of us to go anywhere... not to mention the added cost of rental cars!!! I suggested we just go see the family for Christmas but siblings and DH all agree that if we are just going to a house they could save a ton of money and stay local. Basically, the idea is "we're spending a lot of money we want this to be a vacation... if the Florida family want to join us on vacation, great! If not, we'll catch them next time." So, now there's a lot of tension and I'm just glad I am not the one on the phone (though I am DH's sounding board).

Grumpy - how are you??? I was thinking of you in PT last week!

Sue - I think DD summed Bieber up best: "Why does that boy sing like a girl and wear his daddy's pants?"

Really sorry to hear that. Never easy not knowing what's to come. We'll pray that there will be another job opening somewhere close.

Thanks! I know you're right... just hate foolishness!!!!!

Foolish people :snooty: They don't understand the Disney dilemmas we face....tell them to get with the program ::yes::

.... just keep thinking of all the fun you'll have with DD on the coasters! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

Heather did you start that petition???

Absolutely! ;) We don't need the likes of him in these parts!
