Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

That sounds really nice, and it won't break the bank. You're an awesome buddy!:goodvibes

Thank you. I figure that it is the least I can do with all of the money she is saving me with her discount.

Nope, still just working one job :rotfl2: Had a wicked GI bug yesterday...ate a piece of leftover meatloaf (which I should've tossed...my bad) 2 hours later :faint: I am better (and 5 lbs. lighter) today :lmao: You must be SO excited. Tomorrow is Brandon's 13th birthday, I can't believe it! His plans, to volunteer at school for a band event. LOVE that boy! On request I am baking him a cake today, he said my cakes are better that the bakery. And I took the day off, hope he spends a little time at home ::yes::

I hope you feel better soon.

Happy Birthday to Brandon!! :bday:party:

Exactly!!! DH & DD are onboard .... surprise surprise. Here's the plan .... 2 weeks ... one week with DH and one week with DD .... funny how I get 2 WEEKS!!! This mama can plan! :beach:

oooo, that sounds amazing!! I would love to stay at Aulani one day.

Happy Saturday Morning to everyone!!! :wave:

My pictures are running low so I'm having to dig deep.....come on June! Hurry and get here soon!!!

Heather

Beautiful!! I wish I were there today.

Unfortunately, that part of Northern Virginia (NOVA) is ridiculous expensive. If she can get outside the DC Beltway, prices will drop a lot and she'd get more bang for her buck. Also, she may want to check out Annendale or Mclean - it would add a bit to the commute but I know several people who live there and work at the Pentagon. Also, the DC Metro system is fantabulous and really helps link the area in what is otherwise a ridiculous gridlock.
Feel free to PM me with any questions: we have several friends stationed in NOVA and I can ask around for more details if need be!

I'll tell her to try the areas you suggested. I said something to her about getting using public transportation, and she said she would rather drive, even if it meant horrible traffic. I will make sure to PM you if she needs anymore help. It was so cute when she got excited about buying her first ever snow shovel.

We enjoyed the food - which was one of our biggest complaints in Hawaii (the food tends to be dry/bland since they are cooking for so many). We had one fave luau in Hawaii (Paradise Cove) and I'd say Disney ranked right there for us... when you live in the islands, you get to go to lots of luaus with all your visitors.

I bet you have to. I would just assume the ones in Hawaii are really good. I just wonder how the bread pudding ranks with 'Ohanas. I would honestly eat dinner at 'Ohana just for the bread pudding.

Can't type much - kiddos are fighting colds thanks to the ridiculous cold weather and DH has been working crazy days (14 hours yesterday... ugh!)

Keep on changing and *fingers crossed* for warm weather!!!

Hopefully it gets warmer where you are. Winter isn't bad in North Texas. The lowest the temps should get in the next 10 days is 20. The greatest chance we have for any snow in those days is Tuesday with a 20% chance.

One of my favorite students is applying for the Disney College program! :-) I hope she gets it! She'd be an amazing princess! :-)

Fingers crossed that she gets in.

What is my issue. I can't stop changing my mind about where to stay.

You have no issue. It's not your fault Disney made so many wonderful looking resorts.

:grouphug: To all the awesome RC peeps!!! Hope everyone is staying warm!!!

Hoping for some advice:

I have a friend going to Disney in 2 weeks and I am trying to find some way to offer a little surprise or treat when she's there. She has been a great asset to me with the birth of our youngest and in my last two surgeries and their family is taking this vacation before her DH has to spend time away.

I looked into the Disney florist stuff but it seems so pricey. Would love other ideas or ways to make their trip a touch more magical!!! TIA!!!

How old are the kids? Maybe you could book and pay for them to do the Behind the Seeds tour, or the Pirates and Pal cruise?

Or the Wishes dessert party. :-)

I would love to do something like this - especially the Wishes party - but she's more OCD about planning than I am so I'm worried about stepping on any plans. I did ask DH to talk to her husband and see if there was a free night we can try to squeeze something in.

The kiddos are 6,4, and 1 and she's pregnant... I think they are looking at a possible babysitter for some of the evenings to watch the youngest but am still feeling it out (want to find out without being too nosy) :goodvibes

Thanks for the ideas... hoping I can get one to work!

Day#4 of our emergency snow/cold days...I don't mind the extra day off right now, but I'm really sick of this wintery weather...Bring on Spring! :-). (Or Florida!)

Hi dimndgal1 :flower3:

First, hoping you are feeling better every day! :goodvibes

As to doing something nice for your friend, I like both the ideas from Wookie and Koh.

As she is a detailed planner, I'll throw out one that is always appreciated.. a Disney gift card. :goodvibes It's good towards everything... a special meal, a tour, gift for herself or family, photopass pictures, etc. A gift card never goes out of style. You can give it to her before she leaves in a nice card or mail it to the resort for a surprise. You can get creative too... making it your version of "mickey mail" to her. :goodvibes

Not sure if the Post Office still sells the Disney in the box mailers, but you can check. Last year I purchased a Mickey "in the mailbox" plush from the Post Office for a friend. It comes attached to it's own mailer so one just folds it ito the box, seal it, send it (there is room for a card/gift card too). Also available in Winnie the Pooh. Since mine was the Mickey one, I put a message in saying that here was her "mickey mail" :)

Any thoughtful gesture will be appreciated, coming from you. :flower3:

:wave2: Jen & Krystal! It feels a bit warmer here today :)

How does GFV rank against your favorites?

Definitely one of the best. I am surprised, but I preferred being in the Villas to RPC. It is soooo quiet on the DVC side! :thumbsup2

The only let down was that the boys couldn't play on the cute Alice in Wonderland splash area that they put in since we were last at the GF. They were very strict about the under 48" height restriction. DD wouldn't go without her brothers so it was a bit of a bummer. :upsidedow

Mousemommy - I've been meaning to mention this to you in case the girls are over 48" and have been planning on using the splash area.

ok QOTD - Spring Break - me, 3 kids, mom, dmil
Choices:
AoA $300 a night
Pop two rooms for a total of $250 a night
CS - two rooms for a total of $300 a night

What would you do?

I haven't yet tried any of those options, but I think I'd pick CSR for the 4 queen beds and the Dig Site! I can't wait to try that out someday.

Have you made up your mind yet?

Hello ladies. :grouphug:

I bought the Frozen soundtrack for Miss M yesterday. Or was that for me...? :rolleyes1

Also, I booked the dessert party for the day after we arrive. :woohoo: Very excited about trying it out and thought it'd be something special for her. So far, it's just Via Napoli on her birthday (followed by Beaches and Cream... or was that gelato... or was that a funnel cake? :confused3) and the dessert party. I'm going to call and book the Behind the Seeds tour too and leave it at that so we don't feel like we need to rush around the entire time.

I cannot stop singing Let it Go. :goodvibes DD is obsessed with Elsa and has a whole little routine with throwing off a glove and running up the stairs. So cute. :cutie:

Love the DP for Miss M's B-day trip! :cool1:

Iheart: YAY!! So good to “see” you posting… just the other day I was driving to work and you popped into my head :goodvibes I’ve been wondering how life was going for you. Congrats on your great deal on the Poly :banana: from the Travel Agency that “must not be named”:)

Hi Janet! :wave2: I was thinking about you the other day too. How is your mom doing?

Did you get to see Frozen yet? :hyper:

Thinking can be dangerous!!! I starting playing around on the computer .... maybe Hawaii .... airfare is just a little more than to Orlando ... I could use my DVC points ...... oh what to do what to do???? :confused3

Excellent idea! :beach:

One of my favorite students is applying for the Disney College program! :-) I hope she gets it! She'd be an amazing princess! :-)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nothing new to report here. Still freezing and the superintendent is being a butt about canceling school so my poor kiddos were at the bus stop with -20 windchill. Brrrrrrr. I hope they are off tomorrow. I want to make soup, bake cookies, drink hot chocolate and watch movies all day. Maybe I'll keep them home either way. :scratchin
Hope everyone is doing well :goodvibes
I_heart - we're under a wind chill advisory til tomorrow at noon, but not sure what the actual temps are supposed to be...-20 with windchill used to be the cutoff. Not sure if it's changed or not...we're quickly maxing out our emergency days though...
What if DS is right at 48" (or 49")? DD is definitely the right size, but I can see her not wanting to play in the splash area if her brother can't...
Only 165 more days!! ;-) what am I going to do with the next 100 days until I can do FastPass+ options?? Ay yi yi...
Thank you for all the birthday wishes for Brandon :grouphug:
I've been busy with work and school, I keep meaning to pop in and I get sidetracked :headache: Hope I haven't missed too much :flower3:
Yay for 165 days! Stay warm and dreaming of Florida sunshine!
I'm not sure about the height thing. There is a measuring pole thingy just like for the rides there, and they did use it to check. It might depend on the CM, but it's a posted rule. :confused3
It's cold in Michigan, too! I think all the school districts are closed, I've never seen so many business/school closings listed on the news websites.
( At last count, 519 total)
Snow everywhere, -25 wind chill predicted for tomorrow morning. A wind chill warning goes into effect this afternoon until tomorrow. Dh had to work, I am hoping they will have an early out day today. (And I'm really hoping they cancel tomorrow...)
165 days??? What fun you will have! :banana: (And no snow!!!)
Hope DH gets out early! :goodvibes
Hi Everyone! :) hoping you are staying warm. we had a small reprieve of our -40/-50 temps, it even made it up to PLUS 8 deg C the other day, only to plumet back down to -25 DEG C today!! and down, down, down we go back into the deep freeze! What a winter, I'll be happy to see it go, it's wrecking havock on our roads, pot holes are everywhere!! Since we're in Alberta, and this IS Canada, we are no stranger to -50 degree C weather! and wicked winters! they won't close schools/ businesses down here for anything, life goes on -- I envy those of you who get a snow day :) oh how i'd love to not have to go into work some of these horrid winter days! I'm so ready for spring and some warmer temps.
My birthday is tomorrow... I don't think hubby and I'll be celebrating until the weekend, as I may end up having to work, my partner's hubby may need surgery, and if so, I'll be coming in tomorrow to cover her shift. I want to go to the Keg for dinner, probably just the 2 of us, as it's a pretty pricey place, if I bring the gang, that'll end up being over $100 just for dinner!!! It would be nice to have a quiet evening with my hubby, haven't done that in a long while. I also want to see Labour Day, it's out on Jan 31 -- so maybe DH will suffer through a girly flick to keep my happy :) (After all, I am going to sit through Monuments Men with him in a week or 2 when it is released!)
Hope you are all doing well, I think of you all all the time! Can't wait until I can plan another trip to the world.... I miss it so much!
Happy Tuesday my friends!
Marie
You all are troopers up in the cold! I'd say hats off but keeping them on is warmer. :-)
Happy early birthday! Hope you get some QT with the hubby!
Had first post opening appt yesterday and doc is pleased. Still stiff and sore - mostly from the cold - but start PT next week.
Looking at possibly moving to Japan next... a little exciting, a little nerve-inducing, but also near a Disney! ;-)
LO is learning to crawl so I must corral... Stay warm all and *hugs*
Hi Jeanette, Marie, and everyone else! Just did online check in...35 days to go!! Whoot WHoot!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
I hope you have a wonderful birthday.
I can't even imagine temps that cold.
I don't know if you said and I just missed it, but how is the hubby doing?
I'm glad the doctor is please with how your doing. Hopefully PT will be easy for you.
Moving to Japan would be so much fun. My bil's (sister's hubby) best friend lived in Japan for years as an English teacher.
Well my the friend that I work with is officially off her rocker. She texted me on Sunday and she has decided to close her in home day care and open a day care center. She will be the "owner/director", and I will be the director. It's crazy, but I will eventually make more money for Disney. We've been working on making lists of what we need and getting information together so I can make a business plan. My husband's only stipulation is that I am home every morning to get the boys off to school, and every evening to start dinner at 5 PM, his parents have to eat early due to health issues.
