Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

My heart skipped a beat when I signed in to DIS and my fingers moved to autopilot, straight to my long, lost home. Hi cha cha Changelings!!! :grouphug:

It has been so long I don't even know where to begin.... okay.. yes I do, I am planning a trip for August :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Things were so hectic last year that we did not make it to our beloved Disney. I could barely look at a commercial without crying. After we realized that we would be paying for my son's college out of pocket :faint: we had to cancel our trip. On top of this, we were dealing with health issues with my both of my parents. :sad2:

Fortunately, things are looking up and my DH said to me "you better start planning for August" :goodvibes So.... here I am, back home and ready for some serious cha cha changgginnggg with my favorite changlings. So....What did I miss while I was gone??? Who is our current queen?

So glad to be back. ::yes::

:wave2: Totally out of the loop, that's me! Way too far behind - as in months behind:upsidedow Hope all of you are happily planning your next trips. As always, the new thread is great! Well done ladies!! Just wanted to stop by and say hello.

Have a wonderful week!!:goodvibes

Candace Not crazy for liking AOA, I would love to stay there love all the resort decorations and the food court sounds yummy but convincing Bob to stay there NOT GOING TO HAPPEN :sad2:

Ok maybe just a tad crazy since you are talking the GF :cloud9:

I can't say you are crazy, yesterday I was again trying to talk DH into changing to POR or two rooms at a value. :rolleyes1

jenny I know how you feel, I want so bad to go to F&G and staying at a MOD would work but how to convience these men? :headache:

I know right Sheila? He is all like "I work hard and deserve BWI and CL", and it is really hard to argue with that. But I am thinking ahead too, and would love to have a little cushion already there for our next trip. ;)

DH prefers deluxe and CL too....but, he is not one to argue with savings. However, I would just be thinking he was miserable the whole time....well, not miserable but thinking about where we "should" be staying....

I just keep thinking about the fact that we need a new living room set, we want to redo the playroom. DD9 wants her room redone....

It's a $3000+ difference between GF SL and the values....:scared1:

A lot of this stuff we want to do can be done with that $3k!!!!

I even thought about not going at all... but! I can't do that to the kids (or me)....I honestly never thought we would be making annual visits like we have been since 2009....I feel so blessed but like.....we've spent about $25k-$30k on Disney over that timeframe?!?!? Is that normal?

But even if it was not Disney, I am sure your family would be spending $$$ on family vacations somewhere right?? Your family just happens to like Disney....very much....much like mine....and all our RC families!:rotfl:

::yes::

It's funny, I left my house and it is now freezing!!! Literally, frost on my windshield...and I thought of how nice Florida is....:rotfl:

I asked the kids...would you rather have a new living room set, or a big fancy trip to Disney??? They said Trip TO DISNEY!!! They pointed, out...the couch looks a mess in spots, but we can still sit on it. Just throw a blanket over it they said....

And then...I got a text from DH saying "G. Flo is sounding so good right now. Need a vaca"

It's a sign. No changes. :cloud9:

Wait til next week's preview WOWZA

My DH kept teasing me last night that Daryl died. As soon as I get home from work today, I'll watch it.

Yes, you can do a lot with that $3, but the memories you will make at WDW will be worth so much more than that.

Those are some smart kids, that were raised the right way. As long as the couch still supports weight, go to WDW.

I bet your DH would agree to me that you were talking crazy. Then again, I would just love to stay at the GF one day.

Ugh, I am not looking forward to this morning. My friend texted me late last night, and said that she has to take her 16 year old to a doctor's appt this morning at 10:30. We'll have 7 -8 kids, 4 of which are infants.

Good morning RCers! Hope Monday isn`t mundane!
I have a crazy week of driving around the great state of Maryland for dr appts for me and my girls so hoping this board will occupy the waiting room times!

A wise Mousemommy once told bme take advantage of a great deal while you can, you never know when it will disappear!

I totally get the conundrum.... I look at SoG and think "we`d save so much!"... but we can stay SoG anytime and if the mil discount disappears, it`s a lot harder to convince DH it`s worth it, so I am focusing on spoiling ourselves now in case we can`t later. Also, you DD is the perfect GF age-my friend stayed GF at 9 and talks about how magical it was. She even made DH book their mini honeymoon in San Diego to the Hotel Del Cornado to relive the magic. :-)

Hannah I had just been thinking of you recently!!! The Glass Menagerie is on Broadway and it reminded me of you because of the blue roses. :goodvibes Congrats on your engagement. That is wonderful!

I canceled all of my ADRs today for our canceled trip next week :sad1: I am so bummed. I am really looking forward to next year, though! I need to choose a month already. It looks like I am going to have a hard time though because it seems state testing it spread through the entire month. I have to write in to school and have them give me the exact dates so I can start planning.

Awe! How sweet! :goodvibes I am so sorry to hear that you have to cancel your trip for next week. :sad1:

Right now I'm playing the waiting game. I can't book the wedding 'til 8 months out so there isn't too much I can do in regards to the wedding. I just hope I'll be able to find a good officiant for October, the busiest wedding month. I'm having it on a Friday so I'm crossing my fingers I'll still be good. I also need to find a hair/makeup artist, but I think I'm going to wait 'til I have a date set in stone before I start browsing since there isn't much I can do without a date and time. :headache:

DFi and I have been looking at restaurants for our Disneymoon and he wants to try all the Japanese ones. :rolleyes2 We aren't going to make a lot of ADRs because I don't want to have to work around them throughout our whole vacation. I do know we are going to attempt to watch Wishes at Cali Grill. I'm going to stand up for myself this time. Though I am very appreciative that my gramma stood up for me and got us a nice view of Wishes. They were going to send us to another table far away when there were a few tables that weren't being used in some of the most perfect spots.

I'm thinking we will have our "reception" at The Wave. They seem to have a good variety of food that our families will like (and will accommodate an 18 person party). I know my fiance really wants that buffalo steak at Artist Point, but we felt the menu wouldn't be appealing to most of the family. Especially my picky-eater sister. The other option was renting a private room at the Cali Grill, but I don't think we would meet the minimum food and drink requirement. Nothing is set in stone yet. :goodvibes

That post was a lot longer than I thought it was going to be. :rotfl:

Still pretty much flat on my back exercising in bed, trying not to cough and taking short walks around the house attempting not to trip over the 2 puppies!!!

I know a few pages ago someone said they had some car rental codes but now I'm sorry to say I can not for the life of me remember who ... old and sick is not good! If you are reading this could you please pm me the info? Thank you!

Hope all the RC ladies have a wonderful day!

Oh how I miss everyone!! :grouphug:

All has been busy here. Lots of work, WDW, and life happening. We have been super deep into Vinylmation collecting and trading. We now have over 700! Since July I have had an Ulcer, my intestines were tangled (there was a big fancy word for this--but all I know is that I wanted to die), and shortly after they collapsed. I'm still not 100% right, and rely heavily on mashed potatoes, applesauce and cottage cheese. Anything else, I prepare myself to pay dearly for--but I'm tired of this running my life. Truthfully, I haven't gone to the follow up specialist that I'm supposed to because I'm stubborn. I'm sure I'll go as soon as my scripts run out.

I was so excited about going on the Dream for our anniversary, but after a couple trips to the ER, and missing work unpaid----we had to cancel   I was so heartbroken, because after going thru all this mess, all I wanted to do was get away. My work isn't exactly ideal, and the longer I'm there, people show their true colors, and it's wearing on me. So I saved as many pennies as I could, and waited for a FL resident rate.... that didn't happen :(

HOWEVER... there was a Magic leaving out of Miami for 4 days instead of 3 that matched with our approved time off, and we got an amazing FL resident rate on it!!! We're going to see the brand new Magic!! Just pray that they get her all fixed up in time for November 6th!!! Of course it took me days of research and back and forth to find my "perfect" room (out of the available ones). I'm still very much a changer at heart!!

Also!! I went to the Vinylmation event in September and my friend and I had a YC-CL room for one night.... we were upgraded to an AMAZING suite!! It was beautiful. That is my "home"--I just love the YC so much.

I have been on a little more as we're preparing for our cruise. I wish I had more time to keep up around here. I miss all of you very very much and think of you often!!

Love, Pixie Dust, and Happy Changing!! :lovestruc

SOOO Sorry to hear about your medical issues! There is nothing worse than feeling ill, and I can only imagine how hard it was to surrender your trip. Very happy you were able to find a great rate for the Magic, though -- fantastic second choice, IMHO!

My heart skipped a beat when I signed in to DIS and my fingers moved to autopilot, straight to my long, lost home. Hi cha cha Changelings!!! :grouphug:

One of these days I'll get that dream MK view as well.

:genie: ONE DAY!!!!!

We had a nice quiet weekend. I finished the rest of our laundry. Yesterday I baked 6 dozen orange cookies, but had to toss the first dozen out. Silly me thought it was a great idea to cook them on wax paper. Today, we ate lunch at my sister's house for her birthday and the white chocolate raspberry bundt cake was really good. My sister confirmed that they will be moving out of the DFW area. She is looking at Washington DC or Denver. Her allergies are just bothering her too much to stay here. When we got home, I made my lunches for the week. I made one Italian seasoned boneless thin pork chop per day, with Le Cellier's mushroom risotto. Now I just have to hope that the DH doesn't get into the garage frig and eat it himself. Well I'm off to watch the 4th episode of Downton Abbey's season 4. I know it's not on in the states, but I have my ways.:rolleyes1

DC or Denver - both have some great pros and cons for your sister! Just a warning - I live near DC and my allergies are AHHHHHHH! Great allergist has helped me survive!

Awe! How sweet! :goodvibes I am so sorry to hear that you have to cancel your trip for next week. :sad1:

VERY excited to read wedding plans! I find myself randomly visiting the DIS Wedding planning board just for fun. We wanted a Disney wedding but it was too hard (and expensive) to finagle around DH's military time. MAYBE a VR down the road, though.

Still pretty much flat on my back exercising in bed, trying not to cough and taking short walks around the house attempting not to trip over the 2 puppies!!!

:flower3: Watch out for those puppies! After my hip surgery, my little corgi was constantly under foot. I felt bad because I knew he was just worried but AHHHHH, I kept tripping over him!

Hello ladies! Peeking in between frantic emailing sessions with Disney Custom Cakes. Why did I just realize TODAY that I'd need to get a birthday cake? Seriously.

:grouphug: to all of you and it's so nice to see these new faces (avatars anyway  ) and all these familiar old faces popping back in again. Well, not OLD but you know what I mean... don't hurt me. :scared:

I'm following along quietly with all of your shenanigans and changes and ... the whole, crazy-typical RC lot. :rolleyes1

Linda: That was me... will send you a quick note over on FB. :goodvibes

Oh, I'm behind alrready and the thread hasn't hit double digits yet!! :rotfl2:

A very Happy Birthday to Kook’s DD!!:flower3:

Deena, so, so sorry about all the medical issues my friend. Hoping that the worst is over. And Congrats on the anniversary cruise! :cool1: So happy to see you back on the RC thread. You've been missed. :goodvibes

Jen, Disney so missed a great opportunity to gain a terrific, knowledgeable Disney Loving Mom on the panel.:flower3: Their loss.

Sue, great reno pix... every since you talked about your reno in the summer, I so want to do something to my bathroom and basement! Course that means I have to clean out the basement...yikes!

Welcome back StepDisney, sorry to hear about your parents health issues. Our kids costs us so much, don’t they (guess they're worth it :)) And :yay: for an August trip….when you know what you are doing/staying, post your dates and I can add you to the RC (ever changing) Trip list. :upsidedow

Hi Heather!! Is school out already?? :goodvibes Missed you! :daisy:

A big :wave2: to everyone else! Crazy busy day (what's new?), hope to catch up later. So happy to see so many of our RCers find our new home!! And welcome to our newcomers!:)

STEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:welcome: home  SO happy you found your way back! Now it is a party! party: I am sorry you didn't get your summer trip last year, but yay for August...and you are in good company for summer. Glad things are getting better for you and your parents. How's teaching? Are you still doing 9th grade??? Ugh college tuition, I feel you, I recently returned for my Masters in Nursing cha-ching. I've done my bestest to keep our thread happy and ever changing, but you are very missed...with you and Kook checking in, all is good. So for the RCer with the most recent ch-ch-changes is Candace (AKA mousemommy) ::yes:: I am so happy you are here, you made my night !!! Sorry, for being such a sap! But to me...you will always be the Queen, I'm just helping continue the legacy :goodvibes

PAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My HOMIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really mised you guys (HI KOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!):banana::banana:

I am teaching 7th grade. :scared1: It is my favorite grade but my goodness....7th graders are a piece of work. Meanwhile, I have a 7th grader. We were going to try to squeeze in a small trip this summer but my DS was accepted into an engineering program with a summer bridge and the promise of scholarship and internship but it meant that he had to go to school in the summer. It was a GREAT program. We thought that we could squeeze in at the beginning of August but then we received the first tuition bill. :sad1: I am going to book our trip for this August now so that we can get it paid off ASAP!!! I need a vacation. Right now I am praying for SNOW....

You have done such a wonderful job keeping the RCers happy and keeping a home for us. You are NOT a sap. You are so genuine. (I'm sitting here misty eyed). Now.... help me because I've already switched from AoA to Poly to PO (I've never booked a moderate, please tell me it will be okay) I loved Pop but am not sure I like any of the themes at the moderates. So....I'm booked at PO and I know I am about to change soon. :cloud9: Back to cha cha changing.... :)
