Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

I have a couple of questions.

1. We're 20 days out from our check in date to our DL good neighbor hotel, shouldn't we have gotten Mickey Mail by now?

2. Also, when you fly, will I be able to put my backpack under the seat in front of me, or does it have to go in the over head storage bins?

As long as it fits underneath the seat, you should be all good. :-) we normally keep the kids' backpack(s) under the seats for easy access!

Sorry wish I could help but I never book my DL trips thru Disney.

GG, any opinions on which side of DL we should attack first? We'll only have one day in DL, and I want to get as much done as we can. We plan on being there right at rope drop.

9 am - 9 pm

Ok here's what I'd do .....

My priority would be to hit all the stuff that isn't in WDW.

Hit DL at rope drop. Fast pass Indy, continue on to Pirates (better than in WDW .. longer ride), continue on to Splash (also longer than in WDW), you could then head over to Thunder if you want but I like the one in WDW better, next Matterhorn (each side is a slightly different ride but I can't remember which is which), you might want to do Mr Toads Wild Ride since it's no longer in WDW, fill in time with Space, Buzz or whatever you like.

I'd spend late afternoon/early evening in DCA. Tower of Terror is different so it's worth going on. Soaring is the same. I think Toy Story is the same and last time I was there it didn't have a FP. Also be sure and spend some time in Cars Land since they don't have that in WDW. The Rapids ride is fun. We've needed to do the single rider line for the Cars ride (can't remember the name right now but it's on a track like Test Track).

I would do World of Color and if you can manage to get across the Plaza between the 2 parks in time for Wishes I'd do it.

In the past you've always been allowed to hold a FP in both parks so I've been known to get my FP in DL do a couple of things there and then rush across to get a FP for either Soaring or Tower.

I'm sure I've forgotten a lot if you have any specific questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best to help.

You got a package? They have, in the past, generally sent out the packet for packages around 21 days out. It's been, in the past at least, by UPS. You could call Disney or your TA to see.

If there's early entrance to Disneyland on the day you're going and you don't have access to it, do NOT enter Fantasyland at the start of the day. You will walk into a wall of people waiting for Peter Pan, Dumbo, etc.

If there's early entrance that day and you don't have access to it, hit the parts of the park that doesn't have early entrance. When we haven't wanted to take part in MM/EMH (whatever it's called LOL) we will enter and wait at rope drop for Adventureland, so we can hit Indy (assuming it's open for your trip! this is what we have done) and Jungle Cruise before their lines fill up.

Later in the day head to Fantasyland if it's on your list. Not around fireworks time, if there are fireworks that day, because they close FL for that.

So head to the areas that won't be filled for the hour before you can enter. :)

Hi, Jenny!!!

Hmm...$300 to add another night at WL CL and see the 4th of July fireworks (from FW beach)...Worth it? And go! :-)

Agree with wookie: go for it if it won't stretch you thin!!!

Always have a backpack at my feet! Flying with the kiddos makes it a necessity, though DD6 keeps her own now so mine is lighter... until LO starts needing more. :-)

Agree with GG and bumber, but make sure to hit up IASW! Love the DL version (indoor and out!). Also, we got our Mickey Mail 18 and 15 days out on our DL trip... the 15 was when we lived closer so I always thought it was funny.

LO has discovered she can crawl through the house - before she stayed in whatever room people were in. *sighs* my days just got longer.

*hugs* to all!

Oh what I wouldn't do for that problem again! When they can drive it is so much more scary.

Thanks for the image. Now imaging your little one scrawling and smiling around:wave2:

Hahaha, I know the feeling! DD is 11 months and she's walking so she's into e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g!! I can't do much while she's up unless she's confined in her play area! I definitely am finding our new normal.

We had a bit of drama this week with the travel agent we booked with putting on the wrong dates for our holiday- whoops! easily fixed though with a couple of phone calls.

Wish we had waited and booked UK free dining through Disney direct again though :(

:( Pirates will be close when we are there. Luckily, we are doing one full day just for DL. The day before, we are going to La Brea Tar Pits in the morning and then DCA the rest of the day.

The day we are going to be at DL, they have early entry at that park. I tried getting the DH to swap days, but I don't think we bought the tickets where we could get in early anyway. I might see if I can get the DH to swap the days.

Sweet!! Since I plan on knitting, or watching a Disney movie, on the flight, I wanted to make sure I didn't have to get in the overhead compartment to get to my bag.

:'( Sadly another one that will be closed during our dates. I was really looking forward to riding IASW.

Also I know your kids are older but if you get a chance check out the Bugs area. It's cute and not something that is in WDW. I love the smells on the little train ride.

Hope you aren't disappointed in the La Brea Tar Pits. I would not drive clear across LA just to see it. If you are doing a Hollywood/La tour that day then maybe. I've been to a couple of small concerts at the museum there that were nice. I think that is also the day you are doing the beach ... that should be fun. Depending on the day of the week 3rd Street right near the Santa Monica Beach may have a farmers market and also street performers.

I just watched a ride video on Heimlich's Chew Chew Train, and it's so cute!! I have to ride it.

I really don't want to do the Tar Pits at all, but that was the deal I made with the DH. I would get one day per park for DCA and DL and we would go to the La Brea Tar Pits. The plan is on Monday, May 19th, we'll get up early, pick up a rental car, drive to La Brea, spend a couple of hours there, head back to the hotel, return the car, and head to DCA until closing. Tuesday, May 20th, we'll be at DL. Then Wednesday, May 21st, we'll do the LA/Hollywood tour, and for the beach part go to Santa Monica Beach. It looks like the farmer's market is open that day, but it closes at 1:30. I'm not sure what time we'll get to the beach.

I hear a Space Mtn is a lot better in DL!

Glad you have it sorted out. Any way TA can switch you to UK free dining? But depending on # of people & resort level, free dining isn't always cheaper. For us (2) at a deluxe resort the discount is a better deal.

Morning all!!! I'm up way early this a.m. :upsidedow Couldn't sleep...so I decided to catch up on the DisBoards :teeth:

news yes, Heather I was able to add on an extra night CL, but had to loose lagoon view :sad1: only had GV for second night so switched both days to GV. TA will see if anyone cancels she can switch me back to lagoon.

:thumbsup2 Excellent news!!! You will totally enjoy CL. Are you done changing now??;)

Lots of changes to December trip coming up this next week... need to cancel with TA (I feel too guilty having her make ADRs if there's a strong likelihood we can't do property resort (chance of it is about 10%), and I'd rather just rebook with her if things change. Sort of loathing the idea of having to wake up early each morning to make ADRs but at least the general consensus was one sit down a day and only 3 days have our total group of 11.

Can't wait to hear what you decide!!!!

Just poppin in after a late night at work...
No changes here, DH and I still holding strong at WL for August. We sooooooooo need this trip, much needed for us. Love our precious girls but need to have some bonding time

:cool1: for WL!! Isn't it nice to have something to look forward to?! I'll get plenty of pics in June just for you ;)

See you back here next month my friend

I'm back ....end of school is slow, so maybe I'll pop in more :teeth:

...I'm up to my 7th reservation #

:faint: :rotfl: Love it!!!

Y'all know me and pictures....so just had to share a couple from our beach trip. This is what we left on Sunday. I just hate last days...almost depressing.

And what Disney lover goes to the beach without making a Mickey Castle, mom??!! ...those were Faith's words

When DH returned from fishing, he just rolled his eyes! Had a great trip, but back to reality!

Now I must get ready for work....1 day closer to WDW!!!!

Janet, trishadono, piglet, Linda, wookie, Sparkly, Crystal, Candace....a big hello to all of you

Heather
