Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

I just had to share! Look what DH let me buy for my trip!

Dani Congrats on your agency move!!! They gained an amazing wealth of knowledge in you! You'll do GREAT!

PAS only 38 days for me! I'm getting very excited to meet you all! It'll be a whirlwind trip / but one to remember forever! :)

Linda I am hoping your back feels better ASAP! You've only got 38 days to be in tip top shape! I hope you are back to walking and feeling MUCH better soon!!

I had a moment yesterday when trying to fit in all must-dos for my trip, to try and add an extra day on at Disney to fit in everything! Coming from Canada, that's not a simple/ affordable thing to do! It would have cost me another $600 or so just to add one more day - with extra night at the resort, airline change fees, and extra park day -- not very feasible solution! Took a look at our plans and with a few tweaks, we're able to fit in what needs to be done -- my BFF wanted to see La Nouba, and I've never seen it either so I thought it would be fun since we ARE there anyway! After purchasing tickets I realized I had bought on our only night to see Osbourne Lights at DHS!!! Thankfully with some suggestions by our Dear Janet, I was able to arrange things so we can do both! I am so relieved it all worked out! Normally I'd be all excited to add on another Disney day, but not at those prices!! :scared1::scared1:

Happy Saturday Everyone!

:)

If we plan another trip for next year I have decided US PBH or a Studio Villa @ GF. I fell in love with the fountain in the VGF lobby :)
It's not if, but WHEN you plan that next trip to GFV.

Only 3 more sleeps.
Have a fantastical time at you fave place Petey!!!!! Wish I had a hula girl smiley to post for you. :beach:

I remember how Sarah took all the challenges she faced (including that awful storm, Sandy) one day at a time. She was a great life teacher. Her sweet posts are so missed. :grouphug::flower3:
Agree 100% :hippie:

The magic band thing is crazy, isn't it? Between dh and me, we have 8 bands. He suggested we use them to decorate the Christmas tree. :rotfl:
Great idea for a colorful tree!! :lmao:

Ok, it is official. I have left my former agency and signed with a new one! :yay::yay: I am VERY happy about this and confident with this decision. It wasn't an easy one, but it ultimately had to happen for my own professional future and for my happiness with where I am.
Wow, Dani. I am excited for you. You are going full-steam ahead in a great direction. :cool1: When will you tell us the new agency?

Linda I KNOWWW! I am so pumped for tonight. Did you hear Jessica Lange is leaving the show after next season? :scared1: It won't be the same! :worried:
OH. NO. :crazy2: SAY IT ISN'T SO!!!!! I did not know that Jessica was leaving. She is amazing, and always has been one of my faves.

So as it stands Poly Dec3-6. GF Sugarloaf in August :thumbsup2
Thanks for the update! I hope to see you at Poly. :goodvibes

Can I just say I want to close my eyes and wake up in Dec. it's been such a long week I need some Disney magic :) I may have to finagle a trip soon!!!
Hoping the time flies really quick for you. pixiedust:

Just like my DFIL who recently told us we need to stop going to Disney and go to Greece or something...:rolleyes1
Well you could tell DFIL that he could buy you a 9-Night Mediterranean Cruise on Disney Magic with the following Ports of Call: Katakolon, Greece; Piraeus (Athens), Greece; Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey; Rhodes, Greece (Greek Isles); Mykonos, Greece; Venice, Italy

Or for the landlubber version, Adventures by Disney offers: Greek Odyssey - 10 Days/9 Nights including these fines destinations: Athens, Delphi, Santorini & Crete

I just had to share! Look what DH let me buy for my trip!
Love love love that bag!!!! You'll be styling! :cutie:

See this is why I do crazy split stays .... I really can't make up my mind!!! :cool1:
I figured as much... :thumbsup2

NEED ADVICE: Have a good family friend heading to WDW in just over a week. They have 7 across 3 generations, 2 rooms at Poly. Any advice? Any things she should ask her TA for? Her only real request is 'close to coffee' TIA!
Are they std rooms? I'd request Niue for proximity to 2 pools for young-ins and GCH for oldsters. Adjoining Raretonga has a elevator with a catwalk to Niue if you are on 2nd floor, although I'd request 1st floor. Also I personally like Aotearoa's location being near the quiet beach and with a monorail view. :)

disneydreamin - Great news! :cool1: You're going to rock the new agency!

dimndgal - I find new additions to the discounted selection ALL.THE.TIME. Keep calling if you have your heart set on something that isn't available now. ::yes::

pas is right, no guarantees on daybeds at YC/BC. I've gotten a room without 3 times now and there are 6 of us. No worries though, it's still tied with the Poly as my fave resort. :cool2:

A villa would be amazing. As much as I love my CL I loved having the kitchen more. Weird, I know.

The pixie dust is crazy, right? And that wasn't even my biggest. It's kinda embarrassing how much luck we have had. The mouse knows how to keep getting my money, that's for sure.

That's good to know about inventory! I figured as much: when I booked our trip last year, I booked POR standard a year out. Called back a few weeks later and made it POR/YC split and added a room. We had to move to POR water view because that's all that was available. Called back when I heard more about RR and none available. Kept checking monthly and got one RR. :confused3 I guess my problem for this trip is I don't know what I am aiming for… I keep hoping I'll hear it and go "YES, that's it!"

I think it's awesome to have so much pixie dust! We were YC SV and were upgraded to Water view… I thought it was so awesome! It might have been due to some issues we had at POR, but any dust is appreciated!

I just had to share! Look what DH let me buy for my trip!

They are Garden View, so I'm not sure what category that is. I will def pass on the info so they can try to put in the request! I also told them to have the CM at check in and explain what they are looking for and have the CM point out on the map. Thanks so much!

HAPPY FINAL COUNTDOWN to all those who are close! And as October draws to a close, a big  to those with winter trips!!!

Hey y'all. I was listening to the DISUnplugged as I was cleaning and they started talking about how great our Sue M is and I thought that I needed to come here and check in. I'll try and catch up later, after I drop the boys off at their cousin's house. It has been an even crazier week. My grandmother had a stroke on Monday and was taken by air flight to a Fort Worth hospital. Luckily they had given her this T-something shot and she went home this week.

The best news I have is that I have the money saved up already for my half of the room for my August 2014 trip.

OKay here is my attempt at catch up!!

Marie: LOVE that bag....what a sweet DH you have!!:goodvibes

Linda: Sorry to hear you are not much better yet...still sending healing vibes!

Dani: WAY TO GO!! They are one lucky agency to get you!! Very exciting.pixiedust:

Miss: Hope you continue to have wonderful weather and update us when you can!!::yes::

Wookie: Wow you have half saved already?? You need to come to my house and re-vamp my vacation savings strategy!:teacher:

Magic: Hope your mom is doing ok these days.:flower3:

Dmngal: I am with you on the not knowing what you are aiming for resort wise. That is what makes it so darned hard to make up my mind sometimes!!:smokin:

IHeart: So glad to hear you are finally starting to feel better. it didn't take long for the nasty bugs to start going around this year. :worried:

Jeanette: I really want to hear your take on the Poly even with the construction going on.:coffee: BTW thanks for the shout out on the first post, you are such a sweetheart.:lovestruc

candace: LOL about that thread!! Just the picture responses were hilarious!! :rotfl:

Ginny: Hi my sweet friend!!:wave2:

JanetB: How is DD lately?? Everything going well for her in school?:)

Koh: Oh I really hope you can squeek in a December trip! I will keep in fingers::yes:: and toes crossed for you!

SueM: Mentioned on the podcast?? I must listen to this one!:mic:

Sheila: We are almost there!!:cool1::hyper::banana:

Melissa: Hope your weekend is going smoothly, big hugs to you too!!:grouphug:

Well, a big hello and hug to anyone I missed. Just had DD4 b-day party today at Michaels, (craft store). It was a super change of pace, very quiet!! A bunch of little girls doing crafts....too funny.:listen: Her b-day is Halloween but had a the party a little early. Time is flying, I can't believe she is going to be 5. It is like life is on fast forward these days. Can;t wait to slow it down in a couple of weeks.

Love to all!!

Jen

Jen - I just looked at your ticker, your trip is coming up sooooo fast!!!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! DD9 finished her run as an Oompa Loompa last night! It was a great show but I'm glad it's over....it's really so much work for a little kid....she has put in an average of 20 hours a week in for the past two months, and this past week was close to 40!!!! And she has to go to school and complete her homework on top of that, do her violin practice and running club on top of that. :faint:

She got home last night after her show and went to bed...we didn't see her again until 11 am this morning!!!! She said she felt a lot better after her big sleep. :goodvibes

Now, she needs to start focusing on basketball....tryouts are soon...always something...

Ugh, and I'm sitting here right now getting totally irritated by this Red Sox game right now...

Wow what a schedule for her! :faint: It sounds like she soooo needed that big sleep. Are the sox losing??? We are rooting for them too!! Go Sox!:dance3:

Wookie: Wow you have half saved already?? You need to come to my house and re-vamp my vacation savings strategy!:teacher:

Well, it's not that much though. My friend gets the military discount and my half was only $150. The most expensive thing will be my airfare into Atlanta. Someone she is getting 4 day park tickets for $169. Once airfare and park tickets are paid for, I need to save for meals and then I'm going to help pay for gas to WDW.

SueM: Mentioned on the podcast?? I must listen to this one!:mic:

Yep. They were talking about the top ten threads on the boards and one of them was on the disabilities board, where Sue is a mod. Here is the link to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NmG...ew-vl&list=PLJpwPl7r9AGYJ3QD1fl8B0F0HvVyhvND6

I was so happy that someone else recognizes the awesomeness that is Sue.

I bet that was cute!! Time does fly way to fast with your kids. My little Joey will be 16 in a few weeks.

That is a crazy schedule!! I guess if she gets used to that kind of schedule now when she has a ton of energy, being a mom will be a cake walk (in terms of scheduling and having enough energy to run after kids).

I'm a Texas Rangers fan, but since the Sox have MY Napoli I hope they win.

Well the DH wants to do something we both agreed we never wanted to do.....buy a house. We both like the ease of being able to move in a rental house if we don't like the home or neighbors. Then if something major breaks, like the AC, we aren't responsible for fixing it. The only thing is, we could probably get a mortgage, even with our terrible credit, for way less than rent. I know it'll take a while, especially with our credit, but we'll just wait and see. If it's meant to be, then it will be.

Thanks everyone! You all are the best! I am very confident in this decision. I sent in my resignation letter today. I haven't heard anything back. Hopefully it will be an amicable split. I don't need the drama. :rolleyes2
The new agency is Mousekeplanner. I was very lucky that one of my fellow agents migrated over and put in the good word for me. I'm hoping for a much more cohesive environment this time around. :thumbsup2

Sooooo on the planning front, GF looks more and more like a GO! I am actually getting pretty excited about it. I just need to nail some dates down.

Yeah, DD9 is a go-getter. She takes on so many things without us pushing it. She's like Supergirl!!! She gets straight A's too! It's exhausting just watching her. But....I was like that when I was young and up through college (except I only had a 3.7 GPA  ) but I've slowed down a lot in my old age. :rotfl2:

And yay on buying a house!!! We bought our house almost 9 years ago and wouldn't have it any other way. We love having our own piece of the pie, so to speak. But yeah, we have had to replace a furnace, flooring, appliances...get rid of termites.....it can be expensive! But again, we wouldn't have it any other way. :thumbsup2

I'm tired just reading about her schedule.

The DH and I got a surprise date night tonight. The nephew called and invited our DSs over for dinner. He was going to be doing all the cooking and wanted them to come over "just for dinner only, no spending the night." By the time we got there, they were spending the night. We went to an eat in theatre and saw Gravity. I was talking about how if we did buy a house, we could paint the rooms like we like. The DH says that I'm still grounded from painting.

We need to paint a few rooms, again...:rolleyes2

But yeah, stuff like that is fun!! And you'll be paying yourself for a place to live instead of paying someone else. I think that's one of the things we love most. :cool1:

Well I love to paint. It's just that the last time I did it, I had no ventilation in the room. By the time the DH got home, I had painted all four walls, the back of the door to the room, the closet door, the ceiling, and had just started on the carpet. Which explains why he grounded me from painting for life.

In theory, August is best because of value season and crowd levels, but it's sooooo far away and it will be 14 months from our last trip. Can I last that long?! :scared1:

GM ALL :) I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Candace your DD is sure busy of course that means Mom is busy too!

Marie I want to steal your new suitcase :rotfl: Is it a Heys? I love my Heys but mine is Zebra print

wookie Yay for date night :yay:

Dani I have a feeling you might find a way to get back to your happy place before next August

jenny your trip is fast approaching too!

Just 7 Days and I will be in Disney. Still tweeking ADRs in fact I was lucky and picked up a 4:30pm ADR for Sci-Fi last night, Bob wanted to eat there but the only time I was able to snag previously was for 3:10pm and I have a 12:15 MM (Bob's request) He could eat Italian 3x a day so unfortunately no 50's this trip.

I dropped my BOG in favor of keeping LTT, we have never ate at LTT and I just was not feeling the menu at BOG been there done that ya Know. I wanted to try lunch but since I could not make a FP for it not standing in a line for 45-60 minutes.

I think this will be a good trip if I can just get everything done before I need to leave :rotfl:

Happy Birthday to DD! Yes to WL, but maybe no to WDW? Do tell?

I have so much to do that I don't even know where to start. Somehow I got roped into co-planning DS7 and DS9's school Halloween parties that we won't even be here for.
Thank you - belatedly. What did you end up doing about the school parties that your kids won't even be there for?

I'm semi-struggling with the Christmas res. because I dislike the idea of not being able to use TiW on Christmas Eve and Day and even with discounts, the room rates are the highest of the year and those crowds, oh, those crowds. But, DD has lots of time off this year, DH has never been at Christmas and those APs are always tempting to use. I also got 3 fairly good RO discounts, but those negatives keep after me.

As SueM promised, here are her upstairs bathroom reno pics:
I know I'm late on this, Sue, but I love the reno. and it reminds me of the Tower Club bathrooms at CR.

Well, I'm just gonna :stir: a little....and point out that WL CL is about the same price as CR MK view...:scratchin
I'll add to the stirring...the WL/CL room is the same price as a non-CL BLV Tower room. The CR TPV room is more than the WL/CL room.

Big :hug:back at ya girl!!

Dh is saying he doesn't like all the changes at Epcot and Mk compared to when we first started going. You are one of the busiest DIS hostesses ever and absolutely amazing, my friend. You will always be in my royal court  Happy to have you here at home. And that orange swirl YUMMMYYYYYY!!!

And :bday: to your DD15:goodvibes
Thank you, too belatedly. Your DH has a point that when you keep going many times over the years, you do notice the not-so-good changes and it's a bit demoralizing. You will always be the RC hostess with the mostess and always our queen.

Oh how I miss everyone!! :grouphug:
So sorry about your health issues, Deena, but I hope you still love living near our favorite World.

A very Happy Birthday to Kooks DD!!
Thank you, Janet!

(HI KOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) :banana::banana::banana:
:wave2:
I accidentally deleted your silly blurb about wanting lots of snow, but as a fellow Northern Virginian, I kindly ask that you reconsider your request.

:faint: :faint: :faint: Oh boy, am I really finally popping up on page 9 on the new thread??

Well my birthday bash was just super! We did it all "crazy-like" but it was what we wanted to do, and it worked. Just DH and I stayed at the SSR Treehouse

KOOK - love the new orange bird!! Oh and the citrus swirl one, I need to get my hands on that one for sure ::yes:: Any word on the Christmas trip yet? I have been staying away from the CR thread because it makes me sad that we aren't staying there, but as you understand, making our dollar stretch a little further than it did last year at WDW.
I love that you did the "pop-in" here;). I also love your b-day basharama. Two in a Treehouse, that's epic and I love it! We are still booked over Christmas. Are you heading that way then or smartly avoiding WDW at that time? I dislike those additional Christmas overcharges.

WDWKOOK: How is Christmas planning going? Will it be traditional turkey at LTT or Cape May Buffet, or going commando at Tokyo Dining?
Thank you for asking. Well, the first day that ADRs opened back up for CA Grill, I snagged the first ADR of the day for Christmas. But, now that it's re-opened, the reviews have been mixed and leaning toward the not-so-great. We actually love TD and we eat there at least twice each trip. But, DD insists on a "fancy" Christmas Day meal where she can dress-up, so TD is out that day.

It's too bad they change the menus on Christmas Day. We went to WCC once and I was looking forward to the usual fixins', but the menu was a "special Christmas Day" one which was rather generic and not like their usual menu. It was more like eating at LTT.

Isn't it crazy that I do this? :headache: No one understand the Disney fanaticism like you guys do. [Also, snide remarks from the Disney-unconverted aside, it's mainly due to unreasonable expectations that I visit certain FL-living family members who aren't exactly close-by (a rental car and 2+hours away) when we're there on vacation down there. ]
We have the same issue, but ours ends up an additional 7 hour diversion to get there and then get to WDW from there. DH and DD have said NO to that this Christmas. They are braver than I.

Kook-So good to see you stopped by!!
I'm not a very reliable RC poster:blush:, but if any of you need to track me down, I try to get on the CR, WL and BWI threads about once a day.

The magic band thing is crazy, isn't it? Between dh and me, we have 8 bands. He suggested we use them to decorate the Christmas tree. :rotfl:
We'll be getting 9 for Christmas (3 different RO reservations) and I love your idea:thumbsup2

Kook, somehow your December trip is not on the list .... Will do so today :) Miss you around here
:wave2: Hello to your DD!

We're now arriving a day early and departing a day early so 12/22 - 12/30. The day earlier gets us 40% off and departing a day earlier removes a day of only 20% off;). This trip I couldn't book CL with the SoG overflow rate, so we're booked non-CL.

Well, a big hello and hug to anyone I missed. Just had DD4 b-day party today at Michaels, (craft store). It was a super change of pace, very quiet!! A bunch of little girls doing crafts....too funny. Her b-day is Halloween but had a the party a little early.

Happy (early) birthday to DD! I love that you had a party at Michael's - great idea. DD (now 15), loves Michael's and one of her gifts was a Michael's gift card.

Just stopping by to say hi. Sorry that I'm not able to multi quote but I am reading all of your get well posts and each and everyone of them mean so much to me! :grouphug:
