I've never posted a review before, so bare with me. This will be brief as we were only there 6 nights and I could only get a few ADRs for this busy time of year. We are a party of 2 adults, me and DH and 2 kids, DD 12 (WDW adult price) and DD 8. We also had a TIW card for the 20% off.
Day 1:
WGPExpress Lunch - Meal was great! Great service too! I had the Spaghetti and Meatballs, it came with a side ceasar. They were both great. DH had
Sorry! DD 8 had the cheese pizza, loved it. DD 12 had the Holiday sandwich from Earl of Sandwich. She loves those things and it didn't disappoint this time. Great meals at a good price.
Biergarten Dinner - I had been looking so forward to this one, because we hadn't been in a while and we have always loved it there. We were a bit disappointed this trip. The food I have always liked, not loved and it was the same I liked the food. Everything was good, but nothing great. The entertainment was a disappointment. The band only played for about 25 minutes. When it was over the lady sitting next me said, don't they normally play longer and I agreed. There also wasn't a chicken dance, which is our main reason for dining there. I'm hoping it was only taken out for the extra Christmas songs, but I did miss the normal songs. Then came the price!!!!!
After discount, tax and tip it came to over $143!!!
We will not be back for a while. We normally like it there, but that is way too much money for that meal. DH and I only had one drink each so there wasn't a bunch of beer in that price.
Day 2:
Rose and Crown Lunch - I was apprehensive about eating here again, because I have not been that fond of it in the past. The menu is much better now. DD 12 had the potato and leek soup and it was very good and rich. The three of us split the cheese and meat plate for an appetizer. It was very good and DD 8 ate just about all the candied walnuts by herself, very good. The cheeses were not so exotic that most couldn't eat them. DD 8 had a child's portion of fish and chips, it came with peas. It is not listed on the menu, but they will do it. DD 12 had the adult fish and chips. Both were very good and the fries were as well. DH had the porkloin with fruit. He loved it. I didn't try it. I had the Chicken and mushroom pie. It was wonderful as well. The girls also order strawberry smoothies each and I had 2 stellas and DH had a beer. After tax, tip and discount it came to $110. I find that to be a reasonable price for a very good meal for 4.
Wishes Dessert Buffet - I was looking forward to this very much. We all loved the experience. Good desserts, some great, some not so great, but overall good quality of sweets. Tables seemed crammed together, but in the end everyone goes to the balcony edge to watch. There is room for eveyone around the edge, so don't worry if you get a table in the back. Although it would be more difficult to manuever in and out of to get the food, but you will have a great veiw of the fireworks. We will definately do this again! About $95 for the bill.
Day 3:
Mama Melrose Fantasmic Dinner Package - This is the second time we did this and we really loved it again. We have found the food to be good every time we have eaten here. We each got an appetizer. DD 8 got the minestrone, liked it alot. DD 12 and I got the bruschetta. It was very good, and a lot of it. DH got the Ceasar salad which he liked. For entrees, DD 8 ordered the pasta with cheese sauce or penne with Alfredo, it was very good. DD 12 ordered the spicy sausage dish and it was spicy, but she liked it. I ordered the Shrimp, with artichoke hearts and cream sauce dish (sorry can't remember the names of the dishes). It was deliciious. DH ordered
Gosh, I can't remember again. Whatever it was he loved it! DD 12 got the chocolate rasperry dessert, which she absolutely loved. DH and I ordered the tirimus. They were okay, not great. DD 8 got ice cream, she was disappointed she couldn't order a fancy dessert. We also drank a pitch of Sangria. It was very good. I forget the price here, but it was a great dinner and loved having the reserved seating on a night like that...crowded!
Day 4:
Lunch - Piccabus Cafeteria because we stayed at the Dolphin. It was okay. I had the nachos, DH had the lasagna, creamed spinach and collard green. DD 8 had a kids burger and DD 12 had a premade sandwich. All was okay, cafeteria food...no complaints. Be sure to give them your AAA card if you have one, it's 20% off. So the 4 of us ate for under $40!
Dinner - Shula's This was by far the best steak we have ever eaten at WDW. It was expensive, no discounts here, but wonderful. We each ordered off the $60 menu (there was no steak on the kids menu, so DD 8 ordered off the adult). Apps. DH and I had the barbeque stuffed shrimp, that was a bit of a disappointment, sauce was very sweet, don't like sweet barbeque, it was only okay. DD 12 had lobster bisque, very good and DD 8 had a ceasar salad, polished the entire thing off! The 3 girls ordered 8 oz. fillets, cooked medium...OMG!!! Melt in your mouth unbelievably good. DD 8 and I finished ours entirely, while DD12 left about 4 or 5 bites. DH had a NY strip, which he loved and it was tasty (fillet is better IMO). We ordered 2 stuffed potatoes to share (they were pretty good, had better) and 2 oders of aspargus to share, very good. Dessert was chocolate lava cake for the girls, they loved it and polished it off, while DH and I shared one very large piece of cheesecake, very, very good. Don't ask the price it was ridiculous, but it was a treat I don't regret at all.
Day 5: New Years Eve
Lunch - ADRs at Nine Dragons. We managed to get in Epcot and fight the crowds over to the restuarant. The food was good as usual. Not great, but good. We go there because the kids love dumplings and generally like Chinese. DD 8 ordered the child's dumplings and sweet and sour chicken. She was happy and finished her plate. DD 12 ordered the sweet and sour pork over spicy noodles, she ate all the pork and some noodles, too full, but her dad loved the noodles she left over. DH had the Chinese Chicken salad that he liked and I had the fried rice which was good. DD 12, DH and I shared 2 orders of dumplings. We had a good meal at a reasonable disney price of less than $75 after tip, tax and discount.
Dinner - We had ADRs for Mexico, but no way were we going back into the park crowds. So we went to the pool at the Dolphin and ate poolside at Cabanas. It was very good. DD 8 had pizza, very good. DD 12 had pizza also. DH ordered the Cuban sandwich. He has never sent back food in the 15 years I have known him, but he couldn't eat it, it was too salty. So they brought him the 1/2lb. burger. I also had it. I had onion rings, great! He had waffle fries that he liked. The burgers were very good. It was a nice quiet way to spend the New Years.
Day 6:
Lunch - Pecos Bills We always eat there or Cosmic Rays while in Magic Kingdon. The burgers and chili fries didn't disappoint. DH didn't care for his chicken wrap, but it was okay.
Dinner - Garden Grove (Swan) This was a character seafood buffet. Ceasar salad good, clam chowder good, now if only I would have stopped there. The rest was pretty much yuck! Don't eat there! After discount (DVC 20%) and tax and tip it was $110 of yuck!
Gotta go do laundry now!!!
