Our kitten had to be euthanized today

I am so, so sorry. I've been there as well. We lost our precious Sage to FIP. *hugs*

I am so sorry for your loss. I have had several pets pass away and I know the pain you're in. Time will heal the hurt and it sounds like you have many wonderful memories to remember him by.

I wish you and your family all the best.

Lauren

I am so sorry. It hurts to lose a precious furbaby.

I am SO SO sorry. I lost a kitten, Maddie, to FIP in June 1997. She was sick for a day or two, we took her to the vet, started treating her for pneumonia, then she got sicker and died at the ER vet of heart failure caused by the fluid in her abdomen. It was devastating--and there is absolutely nothing you can do against this disease.
I think we got her because God knew we'd step up to the plate in caring for her, and love her hard for the month we had her. Sounds like your family was the same way to your precious furbaby.
I am so sorry.

:grouphug: I'm so very sorry. I know how much this hurts.

We had to put our cat down on Monday. We had her for 12 years. Ours got sick on Saturday and we tried to save her but by Monday there was nothing more we could do. Ours was Addison's disease.

Oh my gosh, Tinkmom. Your little post made me so sad for you all. I am so so sorry for you, and your family and little Napoleon. Honestly, the acute pain will subside at some point. But it is clear he will always be a part of your family. :grouphug:

I am so very sorry! Twelve years is a long time and I know you will miss her terribly. At work we had this (very gentle) "debate" about whether it was harder to lose a pet you'd had for a very long time, or it was more distressing to lose a pet you had grown to love, but who went waaaay too soon. The length of time obviously is a huge factor but there is something so inherently wrong in a kitten dying. As you can imagine everyone realized that there was a lot of heartbreak in either scenerio. And part of your grief, like mine, is probably related to how unexpected the death was, and how totally unprepared we were emotionally. I still wish I could have held him one more time before he died and told him just how much I loved him. I KNOW he knew, though. What an angel.

His older "sister" cat is lonely. And my completely insensitive dogs have no clue about cat play! She went running through the house up to them, the obvious signal for a chase, and they just stared at her. :)

:grouphug: We too lost an 11 month old sweet kitty to FIP in May. DD-9 said "she was my best friend". I know exactly how you feel. Just when you find out what it is, she's gone. She too slept with DD every night. DD carried her everywhere in the house with her (to the point that our kitty would cry outside of the bathroom if DD didn't take her in with her). DH and I went out one evening while DD was staying with friends. DH and I were trying to decide how to tell DD that kitty was going to die soon. When we returned the next day, she had already passed. I thank God that our precious kitty didn't die on the pillow where she slept next to DD each night, but I also feel guilty for leaving her alone that final night. I still miss her greatly. We did just get a new kitten last week, but it's still not the same :guilty:

We had to put our cat down because of FIP, I noticed his abdomen was really bloated and a test revealed thw worst news. He was 3, his name was Brody.Trust me I felt the EXACT same way about not wanting another pet.
Well a small pure gray female showed up at our house one evening while I was cleaning a cooler after the 4th of July. She just came out of the bushes and she was so friendly and my husband said, "oh great, here we go again."
So of course I feed her because she looked thin.
Well 2 years later and one litter later,we discovered she was pregnant but managed to find good homes for all five kittens. She has been the most loving amazing cat.We cannot imagin our lives without Lily.
When you least expect it another pet will come into your life, sometimes they pick us!I know it won't replace your dear cat but it's amazing how much it heals the heartache.I know it hurts but at least he had a GREAT life for 4 months. Good luck.... :grouphug:

That's funny about your dogs. Our angel cat has an older sister too (by about a year, we got them close together -- actually Bandit, the one that recently past found us! She was a stray at work that no one else wanted to take home. I resisted even going to see the kitten because I knew if I did we would have another cat. DH had been asking about a 2nd cat for a while. So, she found us!).

Her older sister is not quite sure what to think of things. She keeps meowing very loudly in the morning at me and follows me all around. She won't jump on my bed though because that was the other cat's space. So, instead I get woken up to EXTREMELY loud meows way before alarm clock time (I know it's not to be fed, etc..).

I'm so sorry about little Napolean, we have 3 cats and I would be devestated to lose one :(

I'm so sorry you had to go through this. I had to put down my sweet 15 yr old dog this summer. It was the hardest and most painful thing to do. My thoughts are with you. :grouphug:
