Our first trip to HH started a week ago Tuesday. The Savanah airport was so nice, small and efficient. We had our luggage and rental car within 15 minutes!

We arrived at HH and immediately loved it. It is beautiful. THe grounds were perfect and our accomadations were great. The room was honestly the cleanest of any DVC resort we have stayed at.

We looked around for about an hour. Went for some pizza where we talked about all the great things we were going to do (bike ride, swim, beach, dolphin cruise, nature walks, crafts, visit Savanah and Beaufort, etc). We hit the Pig for some groceries and went back to our room.

That is when our trip took a turn for the worst. Our dd (almost 8) began vomiting for the next 25 hours every hour. She continued to have intermitent vomiting until this Monday night! She became lethargic and we took her to the Parkway Medical Urgent Care Clinic. They gave her 4 different medications for a bunch of infections she didn't actually have. The next day, she was worse and began hallucinating from one of the drugs they perscribed. We took her back and they started an IV. After 1000 cc of fluid, she was unresponsive and had to go to the ER by ambulance. Can you tell we aren't having fun yet?!

It got worse before it got better. We ended up coming home a day early. She is 10 days into this and I can honestly say she is finally at about 90%. It was a very scary ordeal.

Now for the positives. The staff at HH was WONDERFUL! They gave me a ride to the hospital. They watched my 5 year old son for us. When we returned from the hospital, there were 4 CM's watching our son including the manager! They sent many gifts to our room for our DD. I can't tell you how many times I had to call housekeeping for extra sheets, towels, toilet paper, kleenex, etc. They were always so quick and nice. My dh or I took our ds to the gift shop at least 4 times a day so he could pick out new videos to watch because we couldn't do anything else. On our way, almost every CM we passed would ask how our dd was doing. There were CM's that we hadn't talked to that asked how she was doing. Everyone knew us by the end of that trip!

I tried my best to thank everyone in person and tip everyone that really went out of their way. However, I was a bit on the scattered side during the trip. I would love to send a letter letting someone know how wonderful everyone at the resort was. Does anyone have any suggestions on who/where to send it to?

THe vacation was a nightmare but all that matters is our dd is finally getting well. We will return to HH in the future because it really looked like something we would enjoy. It just didn't work out well this time.................okay, that is an understatement!

My advice for anyone with a sick child on HHI is to avoid the Parkway Medical Center. Look for a pediatrician (Dr. Salerno is excellent) or go to the hospital. Trust me on this one.

I am very glad your dd is feeling better.

It warms my heart to hear of everything the CM's did. That is truly magical.

Again, glad your daughter is starting to improve.

Hope you have better luck next time you go.:D

Just another example of how great the CMs at HH are!

I'm so sorry that this happened to you and I hope that you'll have the opportunity to get back to HH some time soon to do all the things you had planned on.

Glad your daughter is getting back to normal. What was the diagnosis?
